Build a Fifty-meter Giant Mecha at the Beginning!

29: What! The mecha is nuclear powered?“No, Commander, you should give up on that idea.”

Academician Li Bing and Academician Qian said in unison, simultaneously shaking off the Air Force Commander’s hand.

“Commander, why are you fixated on us? With Comrade Xiao Zhang, that great treasure, why aren’t you looking for him instead of trying to snatch the Yuanhang-2 Engine from us?”

“Isn’t that putting the cart before the horse!”

Academician Li Bing said softly.

“Hmm!”

The Air Force Commander and Li Xiangyang exchanged glances, both thinking to themselves how they hadn’t considered it. Why not ask Zhang Yuanhang to custom-build an engine for their Air Force’s h-20?!

“Zhao Sheng, let’s go. We’re heading to Shancheng now to find Comrade Zhang Yuanhang.”

The Air Force Commander and Li Xiangyang immediately turned and walked out of the research base.

“Alright, alright.”

Zhao Sheng also slapped his head in annoyance, realizing he too had been so stunned by Zhang Yuanhang’s invention, the Yuanhang-2, that he only thought about how to get the Yuanhang-2 for the Air Force.

He hadn’t thought of asking Zhang Yuanhang to redesign an engine for the Air Force.

Watching the Air Force Commander and Li Xiangyang leave in a hurry, Academician Li Bing and Academician Qian both breathed a sigh of relief.

If the Air Force Commander was determined to have the Yuanhang-2, they really couldn’t keep it.

After all, compared to the h-20 strategic bomber, the domestically produced large passenger aircraft wasn’t as important. At that time, the leaders in the Capital would definitely order them to hand over the Yuanhang-2.

“Let’s go, Old Qian, let’s finish the project as soon as possible!”

Academician Li Bing said, and Academician Qian nodded.

The two hurried to the workshop of the domestically produced large passenger aircraft prototype, personally overseeing it.

Shancheng.

After receiving his graduation certificate, Zhang Yuanhang followed Lin Sheng to the outside of a military base in Shancheng.

“Is some big leader coming?”

“Why is the security of this military base so terrifying?”

As soon as Zhang Yuanhang entered the military base gate, he saw at least four heavy machine guns aimed at the entrance, and anti-aircraft missiles were deployed not far away.

Soldiers holding steel guns could be seen everywhere.

The number of people seemed to be at least a thousand.

“No choice, Comrade Xiao Zhang. The mech you built is stored here, so naturally, the higher-ups have to raise the security level to the highest.”

Lin Sheng said.

If Shancheng wasn’t deep in the heartland of China, the leaders in the Capital would have at least deployed an entire army!

“Oh, I see!”

Zhang Yuanhang nodded; his mech was indeed worth such protection.

“Comrade Xiao Zhang, we’ve arrived. This is your residence; you can go rest first, uh…”

Before Lin Sheng could finish his sentence, a disheveled person suddenly rushed between Lin Sheng and Zhang Yuanhang with a whoosh.

“What the heck is this thing!”

Lin Sheng was startled by the sudden appearance of the person and shielded Zhang Yuanhang behind him. Lin Sheng, fearing it was a spy attacking Zhang Yuanhang, immediately drew the pistol from his waist and was about to fire at the figure.

Not far away, Academician Wu and Academician Zhao ran over. Seeing Lin Yun holding a pistol, they were terrified and quickly waved their hands, shouting, “Don’t shoot! That’s Academician Sun!”

Lin Yun immediately holstered his gun, startled. He looked closely and realized it really was Academician Sun. He said, still shaken, “Academician Sun, what are you doing? I almost fired just now.”

Academician Sun was unconcerned about his brush with death. He turned and stepped past the still-shaken Lin Yun.

He came to Zhang Yuanhang’s side.

“You must be Comrade Xiao Zhang.”

“Quickly tell me, how does your mech supply the electrical energy for the Laser Cannon mounted on it?”

Academician Sun had studied the Laser Cannon on the mech for so long and had gained a certain understanding of its various parts. After several experiments, Academician Sun found that the mech’s Laser Cannon could achieve a firing rate of two shots per second.

Such a high frequency made Academician Sun unable to understand how the mech accomplished this.

“Nuclear energy!”

“My mech uses nuclear power.”

Zhang Yuanhang said that to meet the mech’s energy output, only nuclear energy could do it.

“Bang!”

At this moment, the gun that Lin Yun hadn’t had time to put away fell directly to the ground. Lin Yun’s eyes almost popped out as he stared intently at Zhang Yuanhang.

“Comrade Xiao Zhang, did you just say the mech uses nuclear power?”

“You’re not joking, are you?”

Academician Wu and Academician Zhao looked at Zhang Yuanhang in confusion. When the mech was transported to the military base, they had inspected it, and there wasn’t a trace of radiation on the entire mech.

How could it possibly be powered by nuclear energy?!

“Of course! How else could it supply the mech’s consumption without nuclear energy?”

“You should know that every function on this mech requires a large amount of electrical energy to drive it.”

Zhang Yuanhang said.

“No wonder, no wonder. I was wondering how the mech could fire Laser Cannons at such a high frequency.”

Academician Sun said slowly.

“Comrade Xiao Zhang, your mech is propelled by nuclear energy?”

At this moment, the belated Old Wang walked over.

“Comrade Xiao Zhang, this is Old Wang, a leader from the Capital.”

Lin Yun immediately introduced Old Wang to Zhang Yuanhang.

“Hello, Old Wang. That’s right, my mech is powered by nuclear energy.”

Zhang Yuanhang’s heart trembled when he saw Old Wang. He had seen this old gentleman on television before, standing beside The Top Leader.

He hadn’t expected such a high-ranking leader to come to Shancheng.

“But I’ve seen your mech. There isn’t enough space on it to install a Nuclear Reactor Device, is there?”

“And where did you get the Nuclear Reactor Device?”

Old Wang had also seen the Nuclear Reactor Device of China’s nuclear submarines; that thing was like a small house four or five stories high.

Although the mech was fifty meters tall, there was simply no space to fit a Nuclear Reactor Device.

“That’s right, Nuclear Reactor Devices, no matter which country they’re from, are all huge!”

“Comrade Xiao Zhang, how did this mech fit it?”

Academician Wu asked in confusion.

“Exactly, exactly. To prevent radiation, typical nuclear power reactor devices are usually encased in hundreds of tons of lead blocks.”

“But your mech only weighs two hundred tons in total.”

Academician Zhao was baffled; this defied common sense.

“The mech’s Nuclear Reactor Device was designed and built by me.”

“All the components were accumulated by me, piece by piece, from various electronic parts.”

“The Nuclear Reactor Device I modified is only the size of a small car, and its weight is only about ten tons.”

Zhang Yuanhang said slowly, with his system, let alone a Nuclear Reactor Device, he could even hand-craft an artificial sun in the future.

“Gulp!”

Everyone present looked at Zhang Yuanhang in shock, wondering what kind of monster this guy was.

He actually researched, designed, and built a Nuclear Reactor Device himself.

Is this even human?
