The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1198: Chapter 1198: Looking for Xiang Weinan

Shu Yu instinctively took a few steps back and blinked at him, asking, ”Ying Dong, what are you doing?”

”Miss, Ying Xi has already explained everything to me. Ying Dong is here to thank you for your generosity, for helping us find out about our mother’s whereabouts, and for taking a detour to allow Ying Xi to pay respects to our father, even...”

Speaking of his parents, thinking about how they were gone, even Ying Dong couldn’t help but choke on his words.

He bowed his head once more, ”Thank you, Miss.” He truly did not expect to encounter such a benevolent family after being sold as a servant.

Shu Yu exhaled, ”Alright, speak after you stand up, I’m not used to this.”

Ying Dong wiped his face and stood up.

Shu Yu started walking out while saying, ”Since Ying Xi has talked to you, how are you planning to proceed? Rest for two days before setting off again, or depart today?”

Ying Dong said, ”Ying Xi just returned, let her rest for two days. I also need to finish handling the matters at the mansion, let’s leave in a few days.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”As long as you have a plan in mind.”

She didn’t say much more to Ying Dong, went straight to the storage to fetch some specialties brought from the capital, and then greeted the old lady, ”Grandmother, I’m going to the county office to find Lord Xiang.”

The old lady, seeing her busy as soon as she returned, couldn’t help but feel a pang of heartache, ”Rest for a day before going.”

”No.”

”Then at least have breakfast first.”

Shu Yu went to the kitchen, grabbed a bun and an egg, ate quickly, and left.

She didn’t bring Ying Xi, letting her stay home to take care of Little Song Le, and also for her to have some rest.

Walking once again on the streets of Jiangyuan County, Shu Yu felt a surreal sense of displacement.

To speak earnestly, her time in Jiangyuan County might not even be longer than these few journeys.

Yet, there was a sense of peace upon returning here.

When she arrived at the county office, the gatekeeper did not need to report her arrival, simply allowing her in, saying Lord Xiang instructed that if Shu Yu came these days, let her in directly.

Shu Yu pursed her lips, knowing Xiang Weinan must be informed about the situation in the capital, and guessed it was about time they would return.

Xiang Weinan was reading scrolls in the study, and when Shu Yu entered, he said without looking up, ”Wait until I finish reading this section, sit and rest a while.”

Shu Yu turned and closed the door of the study, found a chair to sit on, and boredly examined the layout of the study.

It seemed... there were some subtle changes since her last visit.

”I heard you caused quite a stir in the capital,” a voice with a hint of laughter interrupted her observations.

Shu Yu turned her head and sighed, ”I didn’t do anything.”

”Oh? Then why did I hear you accompanied Yun to see Gong Qiu?”

Shu Yu, ”...” Ha, flaunting your intelligence, aren’t you?

She stood up, placed her things on the table, ”Knowing you’ve been away from the capital for a long time, you must miss the taste of home, Yun asked me to bring these to you.”

Xiang Weinan looked at the oil paper package on the table, his expression became quite complicated.

That young man Yun must have done it on purpose, a local of the capital, who would eat these so-called specialties meant to fool outsiders?!

Really... inconsiderate!

But he still forced himself to say, ”Thank you then.”

Seeing he accepted the items, Shu Yu took out an iron plate from her pouch and placed it on the table, ”This was given to me by you before I went to the capital, to seek help from the Xiang Family if needed. Now that I’m back, I should return the plate to you.”
