The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1196: Chapter 1196: No Problem with the Medicine

After being away from home for three or four months, Shu Yu finally ate the home-cooked meals again and couldn’t help but overeat a bit.

The old lady urged her to get up and take a walk, and Shu Yu took the opportunity to distribute the gifts she brought from the capital to everyone.

Especially the marriage gift box from the Yao Family for Shuyou, which she handed over in one go.

When all the gifts were distributed, Daniu happened to return.

The old lady invited him to eat, but he didn’t pay attention and instead went to see Zhao Xi first. He handed over two bags of medicine and asked him to have a look.

He also asked if Zhou Qiao’s pulse was stable and if everything was fine.

Learning that Zhou Qiao was okay, Daniu then felt reassured to go to the flower hall and eat.

Shu Yu looked at those medicine bags, weren’t they brought by Madam Li and Second Aunt Zhou?

Zhao Xi quickly examined them and told Daniu, “The medicine is fine.”

He pointed to Second Aunt Zhou’s package, “The fetus-preserving medicine is indeed for that purpose, and consuming it won’t pose any danger, but its efficacy is greatly reduced. Plus, every medicine has some toxicity, so taking ineffective fetal-protecting medication is not better than eating two eggs.”

Then he pointed to Madam Li’s package, “This is indeed a fetal-preserving medicine, but it’s an old recipe not commonly prescribed by medical clinics nowadays. It’s slightly better than the previous one, but only slightly.”

After Zhao Xi finished speaking, the old lady urgently inquired about what was going on.

When she heard Daniu recount the events that occurred at the manor, the old lady was extremely furious, “These two really do nothing all day, they’re adults but have no sense, where are they now?”

Daniu said, “I sent them home.” He patted the old lady’s back, “Grandmother, don’t be angry, I’ve already talked to Mother and Second Aunt, not allowing them to go to the manor anymore.”

Although Madam Li and Second Aunt Zhou were very upset upon hearing this, Second Aunt Zhou didn’t dare to say much because of the relationship with Shu Yu, whereas Madam Li was wailing loudly.

Yet, as the matter concerned Zhou Qiao and the safety of the child in her belly, Daniu was absolutely unwavering.

Initially, both he and Zhou Qiao felt that the medicine brought by Second Aunt Zhou couldn’t be consumed, as they were rather familiar with this aunt and she wasn’t Zhou Qiao’s biological mother, thus Zhou Qiao didn’t trust her much.

The first time Second Aunt Zhou brought the medicine, it was clearly a powder and smelled musty, Zhou Qiao didn’t want to take the risk and had never consumed it.

Fortunately, Second Aunt Zhou previously just delivered the medicine and left after a meal, not staying too long to brew it. This time, meeting Madam Li led to them staying overnight at the manor, causing such a stir.

Though Zhou Qiao didn’t take Second Aunt Zhou’s medicine, she did consume Madam Li’s.

Daniu was aware that his mother had a somewhat extreme temperament, with many quirks, but at least she was genuine in her care towards her children. Not only Daniu thought so, but anyone who knew Madam Li had to admit it.

Furthermore, Madam Li never showed any bias towards sons over daughters, which truly set the Lu family apart from others in this respect. Whether it was the old lady or Madam Liang, they cherished both the boys and girls alike.

Madam Li was also like this; she always treated her two daughters well, and was especially delighted that her first child was a daughter.

Who would have thought she would actually buy some secret formula for having a son?

The old lady even suspected that Madam Li was somehow bewitched and had a momentary lapse.

Luckily, there was no problem with the medicinal herbs, otherwise if something catastrophic occurred, the old lady would certainly have Boss divorce her.

After such an unreliable incident, Daniu would never let Madam Li meddle in Zhou Qiao’s pregnancy matters again.
