The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1164: Chapter 1164: Buying New Clothes

Gouwa lowered his head and looked at the big baozi in his hands. It was still so early, could they eat already?

Everyone else at the table was eating, Gouwa hesitated for a moment before holding the big baozi and opening his mouth.

The baozi was soft and fluffy, with plenty of meat juice, and Gouwa couldn’t help but eat a bit faster.

Shu Yu poured him a cup of soy milk. Seeing that he choked a little after a few bites, she quickly handed him the soy milk, “Eat slowly, there’s no rush, this big baozi is all yours.”

Gouwa raised his head and took a sip of the soy milk from her hand. It was quite sweet.

Even though Gouwa didn’t speak and seemed dazed, if you observed closely, you could see the changes in his emotions through his eyes or expressions.

The little guy was actually quite interesting.

Gouwa slowed down his eating pace, and by the time he finished one baozi, his stomach was already full.

Meng Pei and the others had calculated the hours and were about to set off.

While Meng Pei went to hitch the carriage, Meng Yunzheng secretly handed a silver note to Shu Yu.

“Give this money to Aunt Hong for me. She has been taking care of my cousin and Gouwa for so long. Now that the head of the Hong Family has passed away, she has to rely on her son and daughter-in-law to live, and life is bound to be a bit tough. It’s not much, but it can at least give her some security, so she can occasionally have a better time.”

Shu Yu accepted it, “Alright, I understand.”

Meng Yunzheng squeezed her hand briefly before letting go, “Thank you.”

From the side, Meng Pei was calling him, so he got up and left the yard.

Time wasn’t abundant, and Shu Yu was also preparing to go out.

She wiped Gouwa’s hands and then picked up the child, “Come on, I’ll take you to buy some clothes.”

Gouwa blinked and obediently hugged her neck.

In his right hand, he was still holding that wooden bead.

He almost never let go of that bead, only carefully putting it in his pocket when eating the big baozi earlier.

These days, children’s ready-to-wear clothes shops were scarce. Most children’s clothes were made by their elders or were hand-me-downs from brothers or sisters. Clothes from the ready-to-wear shops were expensive, not well-fitting, and wouldn’t last long.

But luckily, this was the capital, where there was no shortage of shops.

Especially the south of the city, which was a commercial hub where everything was available.

Shu Yu carried Gouwa into a shop and directly addressed the shopkeeper, “Please check the sizes suitable for this child, and bring out everything from inside to outside. I need them to be comfortable, soft, breathable, and non-irritating to the skin.”

The shopkeeper immediately knew they were dealing with a big customer.

Everything from inside to outside— that wasn’t a small amount.

He quickly ordered the staff to take out the clothes. At first, they brought out silks and satins, which were good-looking and luxurious, but definitely not comfortable for a child to wear.

Shu Yu frowned and repeated her requirements.

The shopkeeper was afraid she’d leave, so he kicked the staff and told him to take different clothes.

This time, the clothes met Shu Yu’s requirements, and she took Gouwa into the fitting room to change out of what he wore.

To be honest, the fit was quite good.

And Gouwa actually looked fairly attractive, especially his eyes, which resembled Meng Yunzheng’s.

He was just too skinny; once he put on some weight, he’d definitely be an adorable little child.

Shu Yu actually looked forward to that.

Gouwa looked at the new clothes, his hands hanging awkwardly, seemingly afraid to touch and soil them.

Shu Yu noticed and grabbed his small hand, pinching the new fabric, “How does Gouwa feel? If it’s uncomfortable, just shake your head, and we’ll change it.”
