The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1192: Chapter 1192: The Situation of the Manor

Daniu slowly came back to his senses and patted his chest, “Yes, yes, it’s not true.”

However, the next moment, he was still shocked and said, “Even if it’s not true, he was still raised for over ten years as the son of a high-ranking official.”

He shook his head as he spoke, “No wonder, I always said that his aura, his knowledge, his manner of speaking, and his martial arts, definitely aren’t from a common family.”

He was quite moved, and just as Shu Yu was about to speak, he continued, “That Young Master Meng is impressive, knowing how to endure humiliation and hide beside his mother’s murderer at just ten years old. If it were me, I’d be scared to death if I encountered something like that at ten.”

He gave a thumbs up, and Shu Yu laughed, “Wait until he comes back, you can tell him yourself.”

Daniu scratched his head and laughed awkwardly, “So what plans does Young Master Meng have next? Will he follow Uncle Meng to run an escort agency in the future?”

Shu Yu shook her head, “Before, to avoid attracting Gong Qiu’s attention, he pretended to be a slow learner, but he’s actually very knowledgeable and well-traveled. Now that he has settled his affairs, he plans to take the imperial examination next year at the beginning of the year to earn a title.”

Daniu’s eyes lit up, “That’s great, Young Master Meng truly has ambition. When he becomes a high-ranking official, you will become a government Madam.”

Shu Yu lightly coughed, and it wasn’t easy to say that neither of them was interested in that.

But right now, Meng Yunzheng hasn’t even taken the child student exam, so it’s too early to talk about it.

Seeing Daniu’s excited expression, as if he had already predicted her future, she quickly changed the topic, afraid that if he went on, she wouldn’t be able to handle it. She asked about the situation in the fields.

Speaking of this, Daniu was also full of energy, “Look, as you can see, we have planted sunflowers on our hundred acres of land. The eighty acres of alfalfa we had before have been harvested three times, and the Wu Family people came to take them away. Those Wu Family brothers even said that the alfalfa we planted is the best, better than what’s in their pasture, the livestock love eating it, and they asked if we could continue planting it.”

Shu Yu thought, of course, what’s grown in this field is good, this land is salt-alkali land after all.

But planting so much alfalfa means a huge loss for her. Not to mention the tax on so much land, and hiring so many people to work, just relying on selling alfalfa, she wouldn’t be able to even pay the wages, let alone get rich.

“I see the field is fenced, what’s going on?”

Daniu sighed, “Previously, when we were planting alfalfa, there were horses and cows nearby that would sneak over to graze when people weren’t paying attention. Fortunately, we have people patrolling the fields, but we are few, and the alfalfa is lush, so several patches were eaten. Particularly, a few old farmers who were herding cows deliberately drove their cattle this way. When we confronted them, they would argue that the cows wandered over on their own, and they weren’t paying attention. We can’t exactly slaughter someone’s cows, right?”

“Later, it was your sister-in-law who told those old farmers that this land belongs to Monarch Lu Xiang, and the alfalfa is grown to sell for money. If they let their cattle come over to graze again, that would be infringing on someone else’s property, and we would report it. Those old farmers thought the land was still rented out like before, but once they heard it all belongs to the Village Chief, they got scared and haven’t come over since.”

“But now that we’ve replanted the sunflowers, the sprouts are still small, so if horses, cows, or donkeys come over, wouldn’t that ruin it? So I simply put up a fence.”

Shu Yu nodded, “Very good.”
