The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1185: Chapter 1185: You siblings have followed a good master

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng quickly found another restaurant. They chose a quiet private room, ordered a few dishes, and then asked the staff for brush, ink, paper, and ink stone.

Before the dishes were served, Shu Yu started grinding ink and began writing a letter.

Taking advantage of the fact that nothing has happened yet, she had to warn the Yao Family.

Ultimately, how to handle things would depend on the Yao Family’s own decision.

Shu Yu quickly finished writing, sealed the letter, and then found a courier station to have it directly sent to the capital, delivered into the hands of either Yao Tianqin or Yao Po.

After finishing all this, Ying Xi returned just in time.

She looked somewhat haggard but with a sense of relief as if a burden had been lifted, and a smile appeared on her face.

When she approached Shu Yu, she spoke with a bit of embarrassment, “Miss, could I borrow ten taels of silver?”

She explained, “Tan Ping and Uncle Li have been a great help to me, and I want to buy some gifts to thank them. Especially Uncle Li, who took care of my parents’ bodies, making all the arrangements for the burial, which cost money. I want to repay him.”

Previously, Ying Xi was fairly well-off, thanks to Shu Yu’s generosity. She did her tasks well and received rewards, living a very comfortable life.

But this rare trip, especially to the capital, she bought quite a lot and got practical things for her brother, which quickly emptied her pockets.

Without a word, Shu Yu gave her a silver note, “If it’s not enough, ask me again.”

“Thank you, Miss.”

Ying Xi happily went to buy the items and gave gifts to Tan Ping, who then returned home, telling her to take good care of herself and to send his regards to Ying Dong.

Then Ying Xi brought things to Old Man Li, who looked at the pork, cloth, pastries, and money in his hand, with a complex expression and remained silent for a while.

He did not refuse, but took the items and sighed, “You siblings have indeed found a good master.” Generous, kind, treating servants like family.

At least, this girl, even if she’s just a maid, doesn’t worry about food and clothing, living comfortably.

He wondered where his nieces and nephews had been sold to, and what kind of life they were living now.

Old Man Li shook his head and went home with the gifts.

Ying Xi pursed her lips and returned to Shu Yu’s side.

Only then did Shu Yu ask about the situation at East Hill, Ying Xi said, “There are many wild graves there, rarely visited by anyone, very desolate. My brother and I are not here, and my mother’s grave is unattended, now overgrown with grass.”

She initially wanted to pull out all the grass around the grave, but time wasn’t on her side. The miss was waiting for her in town, and neither Tan Ping nor Uncle Li could stay around watching.

Ying Xi just returned, “Miss, I want to relocate my mother’s grave, move her next to my father’s grave, is that okay?”

“Of course.”

However, in these days, relocating graves requires choosing the right time. If the hours are wrong, many believe the deceased won’t rest in peace.

But Ying Xi and others consulted a fortune-teller and found that the recently suitable time was half a month later, and after that, twenty days, or a month later.

In short, within half a month, there were no good days.

Half a month? Shu Yu definitely couldn’t wait here for half a month.

Ying Xi couldn’t stay here alone either; she was now the miss’s maid and guard, needing to protect the miss all the way home.

The miss had already been very tolerant towards her. If she pushed her luck, it would be too unkind.
