The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1180: Chapter 1180: To the Prefecture’s Prison

The tea on the table had been changed once, and the inn’s staff kept glancing over with strange looks, making San Lai-zi flustered all of a sudden.

He couldn’t help but look over at Shu Yu’s table, but seeing that the other party gave him a calming gesture, he could only continue shaking his leg and wait.

It wasn’t until noon that the staff at Yuelai Inn tactfully hinted that there were too many guests and not enough seats, asking if they could give up their table if they were done eating.

Only then did San Lai-zi stand up and leave Yuelai Inn with his companion.

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance and sighed, realizing that person was not going to appear.

What a pity, the information San Lai-zi had was very limited; he didn’t know the person’s name or where they were from, and couldn’t even describe their appearance. Truly… useless.

The two walked out of Yuelai Inn, and after turning a corner, San Lai-zi and his companion immediately came over, “Sir Meng, Lady Lu, what do you make of this situation?”

Meng Yunzheng, “Either the other side found out you didn’t get to the Meng family escort agency, or they are just playing you.”

San Lai-zi was stumped. So he did all that work for nothing, even got beaten, and ended up with not a single cent?

The person was not going to appear, without a single clue, it was hard to investigate.

Shu Yu and his group could only keep this matter in mind for the time being, and asked Uncle Yan, who stayed in Tianning County, to keep an eye out.

Seeing San Lai-zi’s look of beating his chest and stamping his feet, she couldn’t bear to watch, “If you see that person again in the future, go inform Uncle Yan first. If you successfully find the person, the reward promised to you won’t be lacking.”

San Lai-zi’s eyes lit up, “Really?”

“Provided the person is caught.” But how much the reward would be, was up to her to decide.

How could such a ruffian and scoundrel expect to earn money from her?

San Lai-zi didn’t think much of it, he felt that the Meng family would have to rely on them after all, since only they had seen the other side’s appearance.

“So we’re not waiting today, going back?”

Shu Yu said, “You guys head back first, we still have some matters to handle.”

San Lai-zi opened his mouth, wanting to say they had no vehicle, it would be inconvenient to return. Since they had things to do, could they give some money to rent a vehicle back to Tianning County, a little something for their trouble?

But when he looked up, he saw Meng Yunzheng’s gloomy gaze, and his heart instantly skipped a beat. The spot where he had been kicked two days ago started to throb again, so he quickly grabbed his companion’s hand and slipped away.

Seeing this, Shu Yu couldn’t help but burst into laughter, saying to Meng Yunzheng, “You used to always have that warm, jade-like smile on your face, everyone who saw you thought you were kind and easy to talk to. Now you don’t need to pretend, yet who would have thought just one look could scare people away.”

Meng Yunzheng helplessly said, “Stop laughing, let’s go.”

The two chatted and laughed as they walked to where the carriage was parked. Ying Xi was sitting there drinking water, and upon seeing them, jumped off the carriage shaft.

“Miss, Sir Meng, did you see the person?”

Shu Yu shook her head, “Didn’t show up, not sure if he was aware we were waiting, or never planned to see San Lai-zi and them again.”

Ying Xi, “So what do we do now?”

Meng Yunzheng helped Shu Yu into the carriage, replying, “We don’t have time now, and we are unfamiliar with both Huajiang Prefecture and Tianning County, so we’ll have to rely on Uncle Yan to keep an eye out for this matter.”

Ying Xi nodded, and after the two got into the carriage, he pulled down the curtain, “Miss, are we heading back now?”

“No, we’re heading to the prefecture’s jail.”
