The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1167: Chapter 1167 Sending Money

Chu Xian is a good friend of Meng Pei. Back then, after Meng Pei rescued Song Xin, who had escaped from the Liu Family, he temporarily stayed at this friend’s house.

The news about the Gong Family’s execution was also told to Meng Pei by Chu Xian, which prompted Meng Pei to rush to the capital.

In the capital, although Shu Yu knows quite a few people, neither the Yao Family nor the Qi Family is suitable for sending messages to Aunt Hong.

Aunt Hong listened and noted it down, expressing that she understood.

“Alright, if there’s any news from Ms. Wei, I’ll let you know first.”

Shu Yu thanked her and then took out the silver notes given to her by Meng Yunzheng.

“Here are thirty taels of silver, sent by Gouwa’s uncle for Aunt. You’ve worked hard over these years.”

Aunt Hong frowned, “What are you doing? I don’t want it. Whether it’s taking care of Dazhuang or Gouwa, those were decisions my husband and I made together. Giving silver makes it seem like you’re buying off our feelings.”

Although she was quite tempted by the money, she was still upset.

Shu Yu laughed, “Aunt, you misunderstand. We didn’t mean it that way. We just understand your situation and know it’s not easy for you. Having some money in hand means you won’t panic, and if something difficult arises, you won’t need to trouble the younger ones, right? When Gouwa comes back in four years and sees you healthy and living well, he’ll be happy too.”

Aunt Hong pressed her lips together. The girl’s words were nicely put, without bluntly saying that the Hong Family was a mess and implying that her children might not be filial and might not even help her if she fell ill.

But she understood. Thinking of her family’s situation and seeing Gouwa’s innocent expression, she gritted her teeth and accepted the silver notes.

“Alright, I won’t be polite then. I’ll take this money, thank you all.”

“No need, as long as Aunt takes good care of herself. Keep the money safe and buy yourself something nice to eat.” Shu Yu said as she stood up, “It’s getting late, we should get going.”

Aunt Hong, who had just calmed down, felt her emotions slipping, and she hugged Gouwa tightly, took a deep breath, and handed him to Shu Yu, “So I’ll leave Gouwa in your care.”

Shu Yu held the child and walked towards the door.

Once in the courtyard, they saw Aunt Hong’s daughter-in-law coming in from outside with her two sons and a daughter.

Seeing them coming out, the children and the young woman were momentarily stunned.

The young woman asked in surprise, “Are you leaving?”

Shu Yu nodded coldly, “We still have to travel, so we won’t delay any longer.”

With that said, she and Ying Xi left the Hong Family, and the young woman couldn’t stop them.

As soon as they left, the children started clamoring, “Mom, didn’t you say there was candy? Where is it?”

The young woman glared at Aunt Hong, who wiped her eyes and snorted, “Why are you looking at me? Gouwa only stuffed one piece in my mouth, and I finished it long ago.”

The young woman stomped her foot in frustration, “Didn’t that girl look pretty wealthy? Why didn’t she even mention bringing a box of treats when she came to our house?”

She suspiciously eyed Aunt Hong, “Could it be that she secretly gave you something good, and you hid it?”

Aunt Hong was furious, “You can go check if I’ve hidden anything. You’re dreaming, we just sent such a big child like Gouwa over yesterday, it’s a blessing that they didn’t retaliate or come to hold us accountable, and you still expect her to kindly bring things to our door? Dream on.”
