The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1159: Chapter 1159: The Hesitant Aunt Hong

Over ten years of marriage, Meng Pei learned a great deal about the Song Family from Song Xin.

Song Xin did not have a good life in the Song Family, but Song Qing was the only person who showed her kindness. He was also the only family member she cared about. Although he eloped later, which Song Xin did not agree with, she was somewhat relieved that he left.

Who would have expected that he would suddenly return to the Capital a few months before Gong Qiu targeted the Song Family?

Among all the Song Family members, only Song Qing’s family of three were truly innocent.

Now knowing that his descendants are still alive and right in front of him, Meng Pei couldn’t just walk away.

Especially since the child before him seemed to be living a difficult life.

Aunt Hong wasn’t sure who Meng Pei was, but by his appearance, he seemed to be someone in charge. Especially since, after he spoke, Meng Yunzheng didn’t object, nor did anyone else offer an opinion.

Regarding these beads, Aunt Hong originally didn’t want to say anything, but seeing the people in the living room looking at her eagerly, as if unless she explained, the child could only be taken back by her,

she had to grit her teeth and say, ”Fine, I’ll tell you the truth. These wooden beads were probably left behind by the murderer who killed the Song Family.”

”What did you say?” Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu exchanged a glance, meaning that these beads are related to Gong Qiu?

Aunt Hong hesitated a bit before saying, ”Others say that the fire was an accident, and the authorities also determined it was caused by improper handling of fire by the Song Family. But my husband and I found it suspicious. Even if it was an accident, how could everyone be dead asleep, with no one escaping? Surely the Song Family offended someone and were silenced, even implicating my sister-in-law...”

She wanted to complain a bit, but thinking she was facing Song Xin’s son, she refrained from continuing, merely saying, ”We’re just ordinary folks. Keeping Dazhuang was already nerve-wracking enough, how could we dare to overturn the case or seek the murderer? Someone who could kill the entire Song Family must have some power, and we can’t fight them.”

Taking Dazhuang home was already the most daring thing they could do.

But it seemed either Dazhuang was too young to remember or because he posed no threat at a little over a year old, he safely grew up.

Aunt Hong pointed at the wooden beads tightly held in Gouwa’s little hand, ”The wooden beads he’s holding now are the ones we found in his hands when we rescued Dazhuang back then. I thought, since the Song Family died so unjustly, and Dazhuang was hidden by his father or mother, in such perilous times, parents would try to leave some clues about the murderer, right? These beads must be related to the murderer.”

That was her guess, and her husband said the beads looked quite valuable, likely made from high-quality wood. The Song Family was so poor, where would they get the money?

Originally, Aunt Hong planned to throw the wooden beads away, as they were dangerous items that could bring trouble. What if they attracted disaster?

But her husband refused, merely hiding the wooden beads away.

”Years passed, and we nearly forgot about these beads when we suddenly noticed one hanging around Dazhuang’s neck. We didn’t know when Dazhuang found the beads again, and when we tried to keep them again, Dazhuang resisted.”

Fortunately, although Dazhuang was not bright, he was obedient.

They told him not to let anyone see these beads, so Dazhuang didn’t wear them but placed them quietly in his room.
