The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1171: Chapter 1171: It Turns Out to Be Madam Hou

The woman became happy, ”If we could run into her, it would be really wonderful. Yu would be so surprised to know that Xiaoqing and I left the courier station in Linzhang Prefecture.”

Lord Wan smiled and said, ”Even if you don’t run into her, it’s fine. Didn’t you write her a letter and send it to Dongan Province before you left? Once she sees that letter, she’ll know. You two will meet sooner or later.”

”Yes,” the woman’s eyes were slightly bright.

If Shu Yu were to meet with Lord Wan now, she would be shocked to discover that the woman in front of her is Madam Hou, who shared trials and hardships with her earlier and was supposed to stay with Sixth Young Lady Shu Qing at the courier station.

Unfortunately, this group already finished their meal and were seated in the carriage, leaving the dock.

It’s still early, so they decided not to stop over in Dongan Province.

Since Tianning County is not far, they decided to stay overnight in the county town’s inn.

Gouwa got on the carriage and stood by the window looking outside.

He is now braver than before; unlike his first time in the capital when he nervously rode the carriage and fell asleep.

He looked at Dongan Province’s streets, houses, people, and stalls, feeling joyful.

Shu Yu introduced him along the way, talking, and they soon arrived at Tianning County.

The county town was no different from when Shu Yu last visited; they still stayed at the same inn from before and booked several upper rooms.

After settling in, everyone except Old Doctor Zhao stayed in the inn, while the others went straight to Quansheng Escort Agency.

Right, Gouwa was also left behind.

Seeing Gouwa showing signs of drowsiness after the long journey, Shu Yu decided to let him stay at the inn, with Old Doctor Zhao looking after him.

Gouwa was very familiar with Old Doctor Zhao, and he felt reassured with him around.

The group soon proceeded to South Five Street; Meng Pei and Meng Yunzheng hadn’t returned for ten years.

Now walking on familiar yet somewhat unfamiliar streets, they felt a sense of nervous nostalgia, especially as they approached South Five Street, this feeling intensified.

”I wonder if the neighbors from back then are still around,” Meng Pei said while studying the houses along the street.

Meng Yunzheng chuckled, saying, ”Generations have lived here, I suppose they are still here.”

The father and son talked as they gradually saw the half-burned Quansheng Escort Agency not far away.

The two almost simultaneously stopped in their tracks, then quickened their pace, soon standing at the entrance of Quansheng Escort Agency.

However, they did not see the crazed beggar at the corner near the wall.

Meng Pei looked around, then turned to ask Shu Yu, ”Shu Yu, was it here you saw Uncle Yan before?”

Ever since Meng Pei knew Uncle Yan had been guarding the Quansheng Escort Agency all these years, he had been eager to see him again, particularly knowing his current situation worried him even more.

That’s why he came this time, bringing Zhao Xi along, to check on Uncle Yan’s condition.

Yet the man was nowhere to be found.

Shu Yu nodded, ”He was indeed here before. Let me ask someone?”

She said, about to turn to ask the staff of the opposite restaurant about Uncle Yan’s whereabouts.

Unexpectedly, as she turned around, the staff was standing at the restaurant entrance, looking at Shu Yu in surprise, ”Miss, it’s really you? I saw your silhouette just now and thought it looked familiar. I didn’t dare to recognize you; it hasn’t been long since you left. How come you’re back here again? Who knew I wasn’t seeing things; it really is you, Miss.”
