The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1154: Chapter 1154: Given a Child

Shu Yu left the Qi Family’s place; it was already late.

She didn’t intend to continue wandering outside. After preparing a bit when she returned, the next morning, Song Xin’s graveyard would begin construction, and by then, she would leave the capital directly to go back.

Thus Shu Yu took Ying Xi directly back to the courtyard in the south of the city.

Who knew that as soon as they entered the alley, the two of them saw a woman about forty or fifty years old standing at their courtyard door. She wore a coarse gray-black cloth outfit, and her face was covered in sweat, her hair was disheveled.

In her hand, she was holding a small, frail child, who appeared to be about two years old.

The child’s clothes were much too large, sagging unevenly on the body, revealing thin shoulders that seemed to be all bone.

The woman and child lingered at the courtyard gate. Several times the woman raised her hand to knock but hesitated repeatedly, putting her hand down, looking uncertain.

Shu Yu and Ying Xi exchanged a glance. Who was this person? They seemed unacquainted.

She stepped forward a few steps, “Excuse me, who are you looking for?”

Shu Yu’s sudden voice startled the woman deep in her thoughts, causing her to turn abruptly.

The child she was holding turned as well, but unlike the woman, who was startled, this child had vacant eyes, just blankly staring ahead, looking dazed.

Shu Yu was momentarily taken aback, this child…

The woman steadied herself, took a deep breath, and asked, “Are you from this house?”

Shu Yu nodded and asked again, “Auntie, who are you looking for?”

“Isn’t Song Xin’s son living here?”

Shu Yu was surprised, coming to look for Meng Yunzheng?

Moreover, her manner of speaking was peculiar, not using his current name, nor his name from when he was with the Gong Family, but mentioning Song Xin?

Shu Yu nodded again, “He is inside, what is it that you need, Auntie?”

Upon being confirmed, the woman suddenly bent down, picked up the child beside her, and without a word, shoved him into Shu Yu’s arms.

She hurriedly tossed out, “This is the child of the Song Family, he’s your responsibility now.”

With that, she turned and ran out of the alley without looking back.

Shu Yu instinctively caught the child, then her expression changed, “Ying Xi.”

Ying Xi quickly chased after her. She moved fast, and before the woman reached the alley’s exit, she was stopped.

The woman tried to evade, but Ying Xi blocked her path tightly, giving her no opportunity.

After several attempts, the woman stomped her foot, “Move aside.”

Without a word, Ying Xi grabbed her arm, dragging the struggling woman back.

“Let me go, what are you doing? Don’t drag me.” The woman pounded on Ying Xi’s hand forcefully; her arm was reddened from the hits, yet she didn’t loosen her grip one bit.

Shu Yu frowned, “Auntie, why are you running? Leaving a child with me without any explanation is inappropriate, isn’t it?”

As she spoke, the courtyard door opened.

It was Zhao Xi, who had come out after hearing the commotion. He looked up at the entangled group at the door and froze, “What’s going on? Who is this?”

Shu Yu also wanted to know.

People were passing through the alley, and many were looking over.

Shu Yu gave Ying Xi a look, and while holding the child, she went inside directly. Ying Xi also dragged the still struggling woman inside.

Though still bewildered, Zhao Xi swiftly closed the door snugly.
