The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1187: Chapter 1187: Meet Little Ya’er Again

There were originally eighty mu of land planted with alfalfa, but now it seems they’ve all been cleared and planted with sunflowers.

Looking from afar, a stretch of little sprouts is just peeking out, swaying in the wind, a lush green sea.

What surprised Shu Yu was that the perimeter of such a large field was fenced in.

Wooden stakes were driven into the ground, with several layers of hemp rope connecting them, forming a large circle that enclosed the sunflowers.

Moreover, there were quite a few farmers patrolling and taking care of the field, putting in a lot of effort.

Seeing a horse-drawn carriage approaching, several familiar-looking farmers lifted their heads and looked over this way.

They had seen Ying Xi before, and upon seeing her sitting on the carriage shaft, they became excited.

“It’s the boss, the boss is back.”

“Quick, quickly go tell Village Chief Lu.”

“Village Chief Lu is watering the land on the left, I’ll go call him.”

Shu Yu leaned out the window, raised her hand to greet everyone, and the carriage quickly headed towards the manor.

Upon reaching the entrance of the manor, even before the carriage stopped, Shu Yu saw a small figure sitting at the entrance stand up, running towards them with little steps.

“Sister Yu.” Little Ya’er was very excited, “You’re back?”

Shu Yu got off the carriage, smiled, and asked, “Why are you sitting at the entrance?”

“Sister-in-law Zhou said I’m too young to do those laborious tasks, so I just sat at the entrance to watch the door and could shell beans at the same time. That way, I can be the first one to see whoever comes.”

The young girl was alone and indeed felt very insecure, without something to do, she felt useless and feared being abandoned sooner or later.

Zhou Qiao, seeing her slender and small frame, naturally wouldn’t let her do heavy labor. Normally, she would let her lend a hand and help out. But just yesterday, two people came to the manor to help, but they were not easy to get along with, so the young girl stayed away.

Seeing Shu Yu made her very happy, and she chattered away.

Until Shu Yu took a little boy out of the carriage, she suddenly stopped.

Then she curiously looked at the little boy. To her surprise, Little Song Le, upon seeing her, quickly turned his head, burying his face in Shu Yu’s arms, his small hands tightly clutching her clothes.

This reaction made Shu Yu pause in wonder. In the past time they’d spent with Little Song Le, she had never seen him act out of the ordinary. He was always indifferent to others’ gazes. They had encountered many people on the boat and on the road, and some even stared at him, but he was always quite ‘unconcerned’.

Shu Yu became thoughtful.

As for Little Ya’er, seeing her brother not wanting to talk to her, she silently looked away and led Shu Yu into the manor.

Before entering, she obediently tidied up the half-peeled beans placed on the ground, and only then did she walk beside Shu Yu, looking up and saying, “Sister Yu, are you staying at the manor tonight?”

“No, I’m just here to take a look, I’ll be heading back to the county town soon.”

Little Ya’er seemed a bit disappointed, “Alright then.”

Shu Yu smiled, took a hair ornament out of her sleeve, “This is for you, I bought it in the capital. Over there, kids your age wear these. I bought another set for Ah Ning, in a different color than yours.”

Little Ya’er was surprised to see the hair ornament in front of her. It was pink, with tassels hanging from it, and was very pretty.

She loved it, but she knew she should refuse.

But before she could even speak, a sudden ‘bang’ sound rang in her ears.
