The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1193: Chapter 1193: The Peculiarity of the Black Market

The two of them were talking as they walked into the enclosure.

Just now, they only had a glance from afar and felt that the lush greenery was pleasing to the eye.

Now that they were closer, they realized that the sprouts had grown quite fast, and were already quite tall.

Daniu recounted the events of the past few months to her one by one, “…Originally, after selling a few crops of alfalfa, our manor collected sixty to seventy taels of silver, but after buying the wooden stakes and setting up the enclosure, there wasn’t much left. The account book is in the manor, I’ll show it to you later. By the way, before you left, you asked me to look out for any empty wasteland nearby. I did find one, just two miles southwest of our manor, suitable for building a workshop.”

“Really?” Shu Yu raised her eyebrows, quite pleased, “Can that land be sold?”

“Yes, I’ve asked, and the price is reasonable. Do you want to go have a look?”

Shu Yu thought for a moment, “Maybe another day. Today, I have to go home, or else my parents will get worried if I’m late.”

“Alright, once we buy that land, we’ll be busy again.”

Indeed, very busy. Building a workshop, making tools, hiring workers, and then setting up a shop. It looks like Yu won’t have time to fuss with other things for the time being.

Shu Yu smiled, after a brief walk, she was about to leave.

She didn’t plan to walk through all the hundred acres of land; there wasn’t enough time. She would check it out next time.

As she turned her head, her gaze inadvertently fell on the distant hilltop.

But she quickly withdrew her eyes, yet even in that brief moment, Daniu noticed.

He immediately whispered, “Oh, right, that hilltop is where the black market is, and it’s been strange lately.”

“Strange? How so?”

Daniu didn’t know much, “Recently, more people are coming and going than before, and I saw several carts full of stuff being transported out of the mountain.”

Shu Yu paused in her steps, “Transported out? Not transported in?”

If things were being transported in, it wouldn’t be surprising, after all, it’s the black market. Strange goods gathered from elsewhere would all be sent into the black market.

But being transported out of the black market… that’s a bit odd.

Daniu nodded, “Not only that, they’re transporting them out in the middle of the night. I saw it by chance. After your sister-in-law got pregnant, sometimes she wakes up at night, and her cravings have gotten strange. Just a few nights ago, she woke up wanting to eat stir-fried beans with eggplant in the middle of the night, and she wanted it immediately. I couldn’t do anything about it. She’s pregnant and has been through enough, of course, I have to accommodate her.”

Shu Yu pursed her lips, feeling like she had just been fed a mouthful of dog food.

Daniu was still oblivious, “Isn’t it strange? She never used to like eggplant, so when we planted vegetables in our courtyard, we didn’t think about planting eggplant. Suddenly, she wants to eat it, so I had to go get some from outside, and that made your sister-in-law happy, allowing her to sleep well at night.”

Shu Yu, “Brother Daniu, get to the point.”

“Oh oh, so about your sister-in-law wanting eggplant, it reminded me that the Wang family seemed to grow some. I wanted to ask them in the middle of the night, which wasn’t good to disturb their sleep, so I took a few extra copper coins with me to buy from their family. As I was bringing them back and was just about to enter the door, I saw from afar several carts coming over. The things on those carts were all large, like Boss’s screens or something.”

Daniu found it very strange, so the next day he paid more attention, and within a few days, he saw them transporting things out again.

Daniu said, “The way it looked, it was just like moving house.”
