The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1172: Chapter 1172: Returning to the Hometown

Shu Yu hadn’t even started speaking when he was interrupted, leaving her a bit speechless.

This staff, still as talkative as ever, his mouth nonstop.

But in the next moment, she paused when she saw the clothes the staff was wearing.

The staff noticed her gaze, looked down at his clothes, and slightly straightened his back, smiling at Shu Yu.

Shu Yu raised an eyebrow, “Are you… the shopkeeper now?”

The staff quickly waved his hand, “No, no, it’s just temporary, just a temporary replacement.”

“Then where is the original shopkeeper?”

The staff shrugged, “I don’t know where Manager Fang went, he’s not originally from Tianning County. Earlier, he mentioned some matters at home and went back, hasn’t returned yet. Our boss just asked me to temporarily manage it.”

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance, the latter asked, “How long has Manager Fang been gone?”

“More than a month, I guess.” This wasn’t a secret, and the staff had nothing to hide.

More than a month?

Wasn’t that coincidentally when Gong Qiu was executed? So Manager Fang from the inn received word to hurry back and rescue his master, only to be caught in the Fifth Prince’s trap?

Manager Fang obviously isn’t coming back, and this staff, temporarily filling in as shopkeeper, might just become permanent.

“Miss, have you returned to Tianning County for some particular reason?” The staff grinned at the group, slightly excited, remembering how last time he received money from this Miss, and maybe this time there’d be a reward.

So he was especially enthusiastic, “Anyway, whatever you need to attend to, the journey must be tiring, so you’ll surely need to eat. Please come in, have a seat, and order whatever you wish. You’re a returning customer to our inn, so I’ll give you a discount.”

Shu Yu quickly interrupted him, “Shopkeeper, may I inquire about something?”

As soon as the word shopkeeper was mentioned, the staff’s smile grew even wider.

“Sure, ask away.”

“What happened to the beggar who was at the entrance of the Quansheng Escort Agency?”

The staff paused, “You mean him, probably still inside the escort agency. To be honest, he hasn’t come out for two days, not sure if something happened.”

The staff still felt some connection, occasionally giving the old beggar some food. It’s been busy at the inn these days, so he hadn’t paid much attention to the old beggar.

Now hearing someone inquire about him, he suddenly realized he hadn’t seen the beggar for two days.

The staff thought about it, turned his head and instructed the other staff in the inn, “Everyone, keep busy with work, I’m going to check across the street.”

He finished speaking, just about to ask Shu Yu to rest in the inn first, but as soon as he mentioned the old beggar hadn’t appeared for two days, they had already turned and headed toward the escort agency doors.

Meng Yunzheng stepped forward to push the door but couldn’t budge it; it was evidently locked from the inside.

They could enter from the rear where the burned and collapsed part of the building was, but it would take too much time.

So Meng Yunzheng, without hesitation, flipped over the outer wall.

The staff, reaching Shu Yu’s side, happened to see this, and with wide eyes said, “He, he, he just went in like that? Oh, Miss, this won’t do. Although the Quansheng Escort Agency is in ruins, the old beggar is quite skilled, and if you break in, he’ll fight back, we should…” try knocking first.

Before he finished speaking, the door was opened by Meng Yunzheng, who had already climbed over.
