The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1183: Chapter 1183 On the East Hill

”Old man, you’ve misunderstood,” Tan Ping said with a smile, ”The case was closed a long time ago, so there naturally won’t be any more problems.”

He let Ying Xi step forward and introduced, ”This is Miss Ying Xi of the Ying family, the youngest daughter of Ying Qi and Ms. Jiang. She happened to be passing through Huajiang Prefecture and wanted to inquire about her parents’ situation to pay her respects and fulfill her filial duties.”

Old Man Li, upon hearing Ying Xi’s identity, couldn’t help but widen his eyes. But soon, his gaze began to shift slightly.

Seeing this, Ying Xi felt a bad premonition flash through her heart, and she anxiously asked, ”Uncle Li, please tell me, where are my parents?”

Old Man Li waved his hand, ”How would I know, I...”

Tan Ping also sensed something was amiss and frowned as he said, ”Old man, I did hear that the aftermath of the Ying family’s matters was indeed handled by you.”

Old Man Li was somewhat intimidated by Tan Ping’s identity. He stuttered for a moment and, seeing that he couldn’t avoid it, finally said, ”Their bodies were indeed my responsibility for burial. If you want to pay respects to your mother, head to Dong Mountain; she is buried there.”

”And Ying Qi...” Tan Ping found this a bit strange.

As expected, Old Man Li slapped his thigh and said, ”Ying Qi must be buried in the Ying family ancestral grave.”

He glanced at Ying Xi, feeling that he hadn’t done anything wrong, so he straightforwardly said, ”Girl, don’t blame me. Ying Qi and my younger sister were a legally married couple, so they had to be buried together. As for your mother, she was a second wife and didn’t have any children with the Ying family. It’s not proper for her to be in the ancestral grave, right?”

As he spoke, his voice lowered.

Ying Xi, however, breathed a sigh of relief. Whether or not she was buried in the Ying family ancestral grave didn’t really matter. She had feared that her mother hadn’t been properly buried, but now, knowing she’s in Dong Mountain, she felt at ease.

She raised her head and saw Uncle Li glancing fearfully at Tan Ping, then respectfully bowed slightly with a serious expression, ”Uncle Li, I do not mean to blame you. On the contrary, I must thank you. For you to handle my mother’s burial under such circumstances, I am deeply grateful.”

Hearing her words, Old Man Li secretly breathed a sigh of relief and said quietly, ”At least you understand.”

Ying Xi said, ”But the area on Dong Mountain is quite large, and I don’t know the specific location. Could I trouble Uncle Li to guide me there?”

Old Man Li frowned slightly, a bit reluctant, but with Tan Ping beside him, he could only say, ”Alright, I’ll take you there.”

”Thank you.”

This time, Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng did not follow along. They simply left the carriage for Ying Xi, allowing her to go and return early, while they planned to stroll nearby.

This Huajiang Prefecture is more prosperous than Dongan Province, and the prices are slightly higher too.

Shu Yu thought that once the production of melon seeds and sunflower oil increased, perhaps they could set up a shop here.

Especially since Huajiang Prefecture has a pier, making travel to the capital convenient, with many merchants frequently passing through.

Thinking of this, she turned to Meng Yunzheng and said, ”Let’s see if there’s a suitable shop for sale nearby.”

Unfortunately, although Dafang Street is bustling, it’s not a prime location in Huajiang Prefecture and is somewhat far from the pier.

Shu Yu didn’t feel like wandering around anymore. Conveniently, there was a tavern not far away, so they decided to have some tea there while waiting for Ying Xi to return.

Who would have thought that upon stepping through the tavern door, her gaze would abruptly fix on a small object on the counter.
