The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1181: Chapter 1181 Ying Xi’s Matter

Ying Xi paused, holding the reins, and asked in surprise, “To the prison? Miss, what are we going there for?”

Shu Yu lifted the carriage curtain, tilted her head, and smiled, “I promised you I would look into the whereabouts of your mother and stepfather. Now we have some time, so it’s a good opportunity to inquire.”

Ying Xi’s hand tightened instantly, and she turned back, her expression moved, “Miss…”

“Alright, let’s go quickly, we have to get back to the county town by evening.”

If they had met the person mentioned by that old rascal today, there might be more trouble ahead, leaving no time to inquire about the Ying family matters. But since that person didn’t show up, they might as well finish this business and head back.

The Ying Family couple died in prison, and the jailer would surely know who handled the bodies; asking them might lead to answers.

However, several years had passed, and prisoners often died in jail, so it was uncertain if they still remembered the Ying couple.

With these thoughts, Ying Xi drove the carriage swiftly to the prison’s location.

The gate was guarded, and upon seeing Shu Yu’s carriage stop outside, a person immediately stepped forward, “This is a restricted area, unauthorized personnel cannot approach.”

Ying Xi hurriedly took out about ten copper coins and said to the guard, “Brother, please, I’m looking for Brother Tan Ping.”

The guard glanced at the copper coins in his hand, his expression softened a bit, “Alright, wait here.”

Once the guard went inside, Ying Xi turned to Shu Yu and the others, saying, “Tan Ping is a jailer here, and a fairly decent person. When my brother and I were in jail, he praised my brother for being loyal and treated us siblings fairly kindly, almost like half a friend.”

Shu Yu nodded, knowing acquaintances would indeed be helpful.

They waited at the entrance for a moment before a short man, about twenty-five or twenty-six, appeared.

He looked around and then walked towards the carriage.

“You were looking for me? Who are you, and why are you looking for me?”

Ying Xi stepped forward, “Brother Tan, it’s me, do you remember me?”

Tan Ping was startled, squinting his eyes to scrutinize Ying Xi for a moment before suddenly clapping his hands, “You, you’re that girl? Ying Dong’s sister, right?”

“It’s me.”

Tan Ping laughed, not expecting to see her, “What are you doing here? Where’s your brother?”

Ying Xi looked back at Shu Yu and smiled, “I’m here passing through Huajiang Prefecture with my Miss, my brother isn’t here.”

Only then did Tan Ping recall that the siblings were both sold off, and the two in the carriage must be her masters now.

He sighed inwardly; the Eldest Young Master and Young Mistress of a fine escort agency had fallen to being servants.

It’s been three or four years, hasn’t it? He almost didn’t recognize her.

“You… and your brother, are you still together?”

Ying Xi nodded repeatedly, “We are, my brother and I have never been apart, now we’ve met the Miss, and she’s very good to us. This time, I’m here to ask Brother Tan about my parents’… arrangements after their death.”

So that’s how it is.

Tan Ping couldn’t help but glance at the two in the carriage; the masters had accompanied their own servant all the way to the prison gate to inquire about two prisoners’ affairs.

It seemed Ying Xi was right, her master was indeed kind to her.

“Brother Tan, do you know anything about this?”

Hearing Ying Xi’s words, Tan Ping came back to his senses, nodded, “Since I was acquainted with your brother, I kept an eye on the Ying family’s matters.”
