The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1157: Chapter 1157: You Raise Them!

Aunt Hong stood up and pulled Gouwa over, her movements a bit rough, causing Meng Yunzheng to frown slightly.

“I heard that during the great fire that the Song family encountered back then, there were no survivors.”

“There was, Gouwa’s father Dazhuang is still alive.” Aunt Hong said, “At that time, Dazhuang was just over one year old, nobody knew who hid him away. By the time we arrived, Dazhuang still had a breath left. He was my little sister-in-law’s only son, and my husband, soft-hearted and fond of his sister, took him home to raise him.”

Aunt Hong pursed her lips, “Who knew Dazhuang would turn into a fool, the doctor said he was choked by the smoke and couldn’t be cured. Even so, we still raised him safely to adulthood, isn’t that enough?”

Everyone in the living room was stunned, and seeing this, Aunt Hong began to cry pitifully.

“Not only did we raise the grandson of the Song family, but we also got a wife for Dazhuang, who gave birth to Gouwa. We’ve done more than enough. We really can’t afford to raise this child; we can only give him to you.”

Shu Yu frowned, “Didn’t you say Gouwa’s father is a fool? How did he get married?”

“Who says a fool can’t get married?” Aunt Hong said dismissively, “His wife’s family isn’t good, they needed to gather a dowry for their son. Seeing that our family could give them five taels of silver, they didn’t care if Dazhuang was a fool and just married her off.”

Seeing Shu Yu still not agreeing, Aunt Hong couldn’t help but raise her voice slightly, “Dazhuang might be a fool, but he is kind and treats his wife well. Following Dazhuang was much better for his wife than staying at her own home. She willingly had a child, who knew her fate would be so bad? As soon as she was pregnant, Dazhuang drowned in the river while trying to catch fish to nourish her.”

“What about Gouwa’s mother now?” Meng Yunzheng asked.

Aunt Hong pursed her lips and sighed suddenly, “With Dazhuang gone, she became a widow. In our place, Dasu encourages widows to remarry. After giving birth to Gouwa, her family took her back and married her off again. Gouwa’s mother didn’t want to leave, but her family was overwhelming. When we tried to stop them, they said we had ulterior motives, wanting her to remain a widow forever. We couldn’t stop them, and they took her back tied up.”

“Do you know where she remarried?”

Aunt Hong shook her head, “How would I know? Her family, fearing she’d come back for Gouwa, married her far away, and even they left the capital with her. It’s been two years, and she hasn’t returned.”

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng exchanged a glance. Does this mean she’s impossible to find?

After all, Aunt Hong raised Dazhuang; there should be some feelings. As she spoke, her gaze softened when she looked at Gouwa.

“I have no choice now, with Dazhuang dead, and his wife gone too. My husband passed away six months ago. As a woman, I must rely on whether my son and daughter-in-law are filial for food and drink. There are several grandchildren and granddaughters at home; it’s just too difficult. I can’t raise this child.”

She paused, then made up her mind, “If you don’t take him away, then I’ll have no choice but to send him to the orphanage.”

The orphanage is a place specifically for adopting orphans.

There are many children, but it’s chaotic; it’s common for older children to bully the younger ones.

After Aunt Hong finished speaking, she stood up, “I’ve explained everything I needed to. I’m leaving.”
