The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1163: Chapter 1163: The Confused Gouwa

The neighbors said that they had heard Aunt Hong arguing with her daughter-in-law several times.

But in the end, Aunt Hong always compromised.

As for Gouwa, the neighbors had hardly seen him; he always stayed at home and rarely went out.

Ying Xi could only find out this much in such a short time.

It seems that Aunt Hong was not lying; she indeed had no other option but to send Gouwa away.

Shu Yu even suspected that if it were any later, the Hong family’s eldest daughter-in-law might directly send Gouwa away when Aunt Hong wasn’t paying attention.

Aunt Hong could only find the most suitable path for him. Her feelings for this child were genuine.

Earlier, when Shu Yu was cleaning Gouwa’s face and hands, he looked carefully.

The child was indeed very skinny, but he was clean. His clothes were old and oversized but still tidy. At least in terms of hygiene, Aunt Hong took good care of him.

His face and hands were a bit dirty, but it was clear that it was intentionally smeared on.

Aunt Hong probably feared they wouldn’t want to accept the child, making him look pitiful on purpose to gain some sympathy points.

Ying Xi also said, “I was following Aunt Hong just now, and saw her wiping tears as she walked. She must be feeling terrible.”

Meng Pei sighed, “Over the years, those two have had a tough time.”

He turned to Meng Yunzheng and said, “Tomorrow, take Gouwa to say goodbye to Sister-in-law Hong, tell her we’ll take good care of the child and treat his illness. When there’s a chance in the future, bring him back to see her and ease her mind.”

Shu Yu joined in, “Let me go. Tomorrow you have to move the grave, and won’t have much time. I’ll take Gouwa to stroll around, buy some clothes and other things a child might need, then visit the Hong Family.”

Meng Pei thought for a moment, “Alright then, it would be great if you could take on this responsibility.”

So it was decided. Early tomorrow, Meng Pei and his son would go outside the city, Old Doctor Zhao would prepare things at home, and Zhao Xi would accompany Shu Yu and Ying Xi to shop.

Everyone discussed and headed to rest, knowing they had to travel the next day.

Gouwa slept in Meng Yunzheng’s room, after all, Meng Yunzheng was his uncle.

The next morning, as soon as Meng Yunzheng woke up, he saw Gouwa sitting silently at the foot of the bed.

He paused for a moment, looking at the child’s messy hair from sleep, and found it somewhat amusing.

He fetched Gouwa’s clothes from yesterday for him to put on, “When did you wake up? Need to use the restroom? Why didn’t you call me?”

Gouwa still didn’t respond, but when Meng Yunzheng spoke, he slightly turned his head, looking at him.

Meng Yunzheng unexpectedly saw confusion in his eyes.

Gouwa indeed felt bewildered. In the past, it was always noisy outside early in the morning, and then he would be picked up to go outside, following Aunt Hong around and watching her work.

Today, he woke up early, but it was quiet outside. The adults beside him were still asleep, so it was okay to sit there lost in thought, no one scolded him.

Meng Yunzheng picked up the child and took him to the restroom.

Upon hearing the movement, Shu Yu also stepped out of the room and brought warm water to wash his face.

After tidying him up, Zhao Xi returned from outside with two meal boxes of breakfast.

Meng Yunzheng placed the child on a chair and gave him a bun to hold and eat.

Then, Gouwa showed the same bewildered expression as before.

Shu Yu signaled to him, “Take your time eating. Afterward, I’ll take you out. How does that sound?”
