My Alleged Husband

Chapter 447: Chapter 426 The First Slap_1

Ran Zhihan had not expected her husband to suddenly push the door open. She knew in her husband’s eyes, no matter what their child did wrong, it didn’t matter, but he must not be impolite to his elders. Yet today, her husband stood outside the door and heard their son speaking loudly to her. He would certainly not let their son off the hook. She did not want this to happen to their son. She knew her husband had an extremely strict temper, especially with their children. He definitely wouldn’t let go of a single thing this time. But now, seeing her husband looking so fierce, standing sternly at the entrance, frightening their child to the point he dared not move, her heart was filled with worry, but she didn’t dare to say anything.

”Husband, why did you come in? I was just joking with our son. Didn’t you know I would have brought you in when we were talking here? Why didn’t you knock on the door first? See, you’ve scared our son; he’s too scared to speak now. You can’t be so fierce in front of our son in the future. Otherwise, our son will be afraid of you, his father.”

Zhang Yichen completely ignored what his wife was saying. He directly shouted at his son, ”Is this how your mother and I taught you to behave? Is this the attitude you take when speaking to your mother? Don’t you know you should be polite to your elders? Do you realize that your attitude makes me feel you’re no longer the good son I had in mind? Why have you become like this? I just want to ask you one thing, do your mom and dad even exist in your eyes? How can you raise your voice to your mother? Do you know that your mother has always been reluctant to hit you, reluctant to scold you? Every time she thought about hitting or scolding you, your mother would come out to help mediate, hoping I wouldn’t lay a hand on you. She wants you to grow up happy, without suffering a single bit. But why did you do this to your mother today? Do you not know that speaking so loudly to your mother deeply hurts her? She can’t bear such a blow. She thrives on the gentle love her son has for her, but today, you, as her son, raised your voice at her. How can she accept that? When you do things, why don’t you consider the consequences? How can you be so selfish and cause your mother such worry?”

”Dad, I’m sorry, it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have spoken loudly to mom. It was wrong of me to yell at her, and I shouldn’t have worried you and mom; it’s my fault. I also shouldn’t have stayed out late into the night, causing the whole family to be anxious all because of me. It’s my fault.”

”Do you think just apologizing is enough? Don’t you think you should be punished for what you did today? Are you going to get away with your mistake tonight just because you apologized once? If you always hold on to the hope of getting lucky, then is there any point in anyone doing anything? When you do things, do you ever consider other people’s feelings? Don’t you know that what you do makes your mom and dad very sad? We only want you to live a happy life. That’s why we want to give you the best of everything. But why can’t you consider your mom and dad’s feelings? Why does your behavior have to worry and scare us every time?”

”Husband, it’s okay now. Since you’ve already said these words to our child, let’s not scold him here anymore. Can’t you see he’s scared by us going back and forth with our scolding? We shouldn’t always tell a child off like this. We should let him grow up in happiness and health. Maybe then he’ll feel that we love him, don’t you think?”

”Zhihan, I hope you don’t step in tonight to plead for him. He must be punished for his actions, or he will become completely lawless. Don’t you understand that doing so will only make our son grow more and more unruly? He’ll keep clinging to the hope of getting lucky, thinking we’ll never punish him. Then he’ll only become increasingly reckless. If he can stay out until deep into the night today, what about next time? Is he going to run away from home? Who could bear such a decision? I don’t want to endure the feeling of searching everywhere for our son who doesn’t come home. Do you know how painful that is, especially for the grandparents at their age? They can’t bear such hurt any longer. If it happens again, grandpa might really end up in the hospital. You should know how much grandpa cares about our child. Yet why doesn’t he think before he acts, not considering others’ feelings at all? Doesn’t he know that others worry about him too? Why is he always so selfish? Why is he as selfish as my parents? I really don’t want to believe this is the son I raised. I must discipline him properly.”

”Dad, I’ve said that I know I’m wrong. What else do you and mom want? Surely you’re not thinking of kicking me out of the house, are you?”

When Zhang Yichen heard his son’s words, he said nothing and simply gave his son a slap, astonishing everyone present. He had never laid a hand on his child, never hit anyone, especially a family member. But today, he made an exception.

”I have never hit anyone before; this is the first time, and you became the first person I’ve ever hit. Do you understand how every word you say can make everyone feel sad? You act without thinking and still try to shift all the responsibility onto others. Your mother trusts you haven’t lied, everyone believes you haven’t lied, but why, when you do something wrong, are you still so thoughtless? Shouldn’t your mom and dad scold you? Don’t you deserve to be punished for what you’ve done wrong? Why do you still think about escaping? Do you think you can get away with it? Since you’ve already done these things, no matter what, you must take all the punishment you deserve. Don’t always assume that your mom will plead for you, and that you can get lucky every time. Escaping the consequences over and over is not that easy...”
