My Alleged Husband

Chapter 439: Chapter 418 Don’t Be Sad_1

”Child, it seems that your parents are truly kind-hearted. Maybe there is reason in what they say. Could it be that your grandparents had no choice but to stay away? Don’t you think you should patiently wait for them to come back and see you?” Xia Jing tried to justify herself, but Zhang Ni was Zhang Yichen’s son; how could he be fooled so easily?

”I can’t understand. Even if my grandparents had great difficulties, couldn’t they have come back to see me? Is there really something more important to them than visiting me, their own grandson? Sometimes I really do wonder if I am even their grandson at all. Why would they treat me so cruelly, treat my parents like that? Sometimes, I secretly see my parents talking quietly in their room; I know they are also in pain. They too wish for my grandparents to return, to always be by their side. But my grandparents are so heartless, abandoning our family like this. We have always been waiting for their return. Why do they have to be so cruel to us?”

Having heard Zhang Ni’s words, Xia Jing knew that her image in her grandson’s heart was completely gone. Now, what should she do? If she had known earlier that this child wouldn’t be easily fooled, why did she leave them in the first place? Was it just for that so-called dignity and face? Are dignity and face really more important than being together with family, happily spending every day? Sometimes she couldn’t even understand why she made such a stubborn decision. Was she really happier after leaving her loved ones? Seeing her family suffering so much, didn’t it pain her heart? Sometimes she really didn’t know what to do, but it was impossible to turn back time. Events had progressed to this point; whatever she said or did, what use would it be? Could she really make up for all the mistakes she had made before?

”Silly child, don’t be sad. What if one day your grandmother comes back to see you? Would you welcome her? Or would you drive her out of the house? You still hold a place in your heart for your grandmother; you just don’t know why she doesn’t want to come back to see you. Maybe she really had no choice!”

”I will never believe what adults say about having no choice or the many circumstances that can’t be helped. These are all just excuses they make for their wrongdoings. If they truly wanted to stay, they would have fought to be right there with us. But since they left so easily, it proves that their hearts were never with us. Nobody in our home mattered to them. If so, why should I force them to stay and make them upset? Maybe my parents are right; my grandparents want to live their own lives, and as their relatives, we shouldn’t disturb them. Let them be happy in the life they choose. That would be our way to love them. But I really can’t understand. How far does my love for them need to extend because I live for that love? I can’t understand why they have left so many times. Every departure becomes a painful farewell because every goodbye leaves someone feeling utterly despondent. I do not wish for my grandparents to suddenly return one day. And even if they do, I want them to return with dignity, not with some clever disguise. Otherwise, it will only provoke rejection in my heart. I’m not a bad person; maybe I’m just not cute enough. That’s why my grandparents might really hate me and never want to be around me. Or maybe I’m too adorable, and they don’t know how to act around me. There are so many reasons I will never know in this lifetime, and I no longer want to delve into whose fault it is. I just hope that my grandparents can return to my side, even if it’s just for a day, a minute, or a second. I would be content. In life, one should not ask for too much, but for me, I deeply long for these things to happen to me. I have never had any great desires, nor have I ever begged anyone, because I know no one else will ever be there for you. To become strong, one must rely on oneself. But no matter how hard I try, I can never hold a place in my grandparents’ hearts. That’s the most painful thing for me!”

”Child, I believe if your grandparents knew how you are feeling now, they would regret it. Sometimes your grandparents may not be as heartless as you think. They might just not know how to relate to you. You should show the same understanding for them as your parents suggest. Believe that one day, your grandparents will return to your side...”

”But even so, our hearts cannot be healed from the pain they’ve caused. I’ve been so good, so hopeful toward them. Why must they hurt my delicate spirit? In their eyes, am I really so insignificant? They left as easily as saying goodbye, without a hint of love. I just hope for them to truly love me once. Is that really so hard to ask for? My request isn’t much!”

”Perhaps to you, your request isn’t much, but others might feel your demands are excessive. Often, you shouldn’t judge others by your own standards, because they may not be what you imagine. You should give people a fair amount of trust, or else you shouldn’t trust them at all. If you choose to trust, then you should trust unconditionally, and never give up on someone easily. Trust between people is very important!”

”Yet sometimes, despite knowing that choosing to trust can leave you covered in wounds, you still do so without hesitation because that person holds a place in your heart. You choose to trust unconditionally, always willing to trust more than they do. Such trust must come from a deep bond!”
