My Alleged Husband

Chapter 419: Chapter 398 Never Moved_1

”Nai’er, come over to your great-grandfather, he has something to say to you. Don’t you want to know where your grandparents are? If you want to know where they are, then come to me quickly!”

As soon as Zhang Ni heard that she could find out where her grandparents were, she didn’t say another word and scampered over to her great-grandfather. But when she got into Old Master Zhang’s arms, he said to her, ”My dearest Nai’er, you are so good. Will you listen to great-grandpa tell you slowly? I’ll tell you a story. You see, great-grandpa didn’t approve of his son and daughter-in-law being together at first. But, the boy and the girl were determined to be together, and they put in a lot of effort to make it happen. Despite how much they gave, this man couldn’t stand in the way of his son and the girl living their lives together. In the end, he had no choice but to let them be together. Once the boy and the girl got married, slowly they had their own child. But when that child was born, she gave birth and then left for abroad all by herself. Do you know? At that time, the little boy was in a lot of pain inside, even though he was only a month old. But as their son grew, he gradually aimed to prove to his parents that he wasn’t useless. He wanted his parents to understand that even without them, he could still become the most useful person in the world. But you would never guess, the boy succeeded in the end. He became a prodigy, second to none, with unearthly charisma and intelligence that no one could surpass. Yet his parents came back that very day!”

Zhang Ni didn’t understand what it all meant, and she asked Old Master Zhang, ”Great-grandpa, I’m a bit confused. If his parents came back, then why isn’t the little boy happy? Doesn’t he always wish for his parents to be by his side? If my parents weren’t with me, I would surely cry every day, missing them so much. If my parents abandoned me one day, I would be heartbroken...”

Old Master Zhang couldn’t help but smile wryly at the little sprout’s words. This is what difference looks like. But why did all these differences have to visit his family?

”Nai’er, you might think that the boy should be very happy now that they’ve returned to his side. But do you know, actually, with their return, the boy felt even more pain inside. He didn’t know how to face his parents. But his parents kept showing up at the four little boys’ sides, even disrupting the boy’s happiness. In the end, despite enormous difficulties, the little boy still managed to be with the woman he loved. Now they have their own child and their lives were tranquil and stable. But storms always hit when you least expect them. That’s why they didn’t see it coming that their parents, who were fine just a few days earlier, suddenly got divorced. Now that they are divorced, they must separate, they can’t go back home anymore...”

”Great-grandpa, you’re talking about my grandparents, aren’t you? They must have gotten divorced and that’s why they can’t be with me. But I really wish they could be by my side. The thing I want most in my life is for my grandparents to be with me, and my parents, and of course for my great-grandfather to be with me—especially you, great-grandpa, when you hold me every day. My favorite thing is when you hold me. But it seems time always flies too fast. Every day I don’t get to do what I want to do before it’s already dark. When I wake up after sleeping, it’s already light. I always feel like there’s not enough time. I wish time could stop. If only my grandpa, my parents could be with me... But why does time keep slipping by? Great-grandpa, can you tell me why time has to keep spinning round and round? Why can’t it just stop?”

”Silly child, time will never pause, nor will it stop for anyone. You must understand, time flies, just like the swift arrow and the weaving shuttle; once a moment is gone, it’s gone forever. You must always cherish time so that you can live a colorful and flavorful life. Don’t waste your time; no moment is spared for you to waste. If you waste time today, then you should think about how to complete today’s work. I hope you understand that you should never push today’s matters to tomorrow, because tomorrow will have its own tasks to finish. If you don’t finish what needs to be done today and you delay it until tomorrow, then tomorrow’s tasks won’t be completed either. Day after day, year after year this will continue, until you realize that you haven’t accomplished what you wanted to in life, that you never truly enjoyed living to the fullest!”

”Great-grandpa, I understand now. No matter what, I will cherish my time. I will treat time as my effort, and I certainly won’t let time rule over me. I will tread upon time, making it follow my steps, instead of me living by its pace...”

Listening to Zhang Ni’s every word, Old Master Zhang felt the child spoke with uncommon wisdom. It simply opened his eyes. Although he knew the child always hoped her grandparents would return to her side, he now would not be swayed. He couldn’t allow that person back into the home. Since she had decided to leave back then, she had no right to return. Having decided to leave, she shouldn’t even think of a day of return. Time will not remain still, waiting; they had their chance and didn’t value it. So now, why should he worry himself, trying to find a way to bring them back home? It was all a futile talk.
