My Alleged Husband

Chapter 409: Chapter 388 Who Allowed You to Leave?_1

Not long after Xia Jing left, Old Master Zhang made a call to his grandson. He knew that he had to tell his grandson about this matter, as it involved his birth mother who had once again left him. If he, as a grandfather, didn’t inform him, how regretful his grandson’s heart must be. Perhaps this was his last chance. If he missed this opportunity, his mother and he might never see each other again.

Zhang Yichen was originally busy with his work at the company. He was planning to get off work and go shopping for daily necessities with his wife and their beloved son. But now, it seemed impossible. When he saw his grandfather’s number on his phone, he knew that if it wasn’t for something important, his grandfather would never disturb him at work. But now, he understood that something significant must be happening.

”Grandfather, I don’t know why you’re so urgently calling me. Is there something wrong? I know you wouldn’t call me at work unless it’s something important because you know how serious I am about my job. You wouldn’t rashly disrupt my work rhythm. Tell me, what’s so urgent that it’s disrupted my work plans?”

”Yichen, listen to your grandfather: your mother came back to the house just a moment ago. She said a lot to me. She’s preparing to go abroad. If you want your mother to stay here and live well for a while, then you must go and intercept her immediately. Don’t let her abandon us all again. I have pleaded with her to the best of my ability, but she refuses to turn back. I don’t know what your father said to her, making her so angry. Since your mother has decided to leave, I can do no more to persuade her. If you want your mother to stay here with you, to accompany your son properly, then hurry and find her. Don’t let her leave like this. If she goes abroad this time, I’m afraid she will never return. She has made up her mind not to come back here for the rest of her life, because she feels heartbroken over this place—heartbroken because of your father. So you must understand what you have to do, right?”

”Grandfather, I understand. It takes the person who tied the bell to untie it. Since this issue arose because of my father, he must be the one to resolve it. So I need to quickly find my dad and have him stop my mom from leaving.”

”Foolish child, your mother suddenly decided to leave the country because she met your father just before. That’s why I say I don’t know what your father must have said to make her so determined to leave. Now you absolutely must not go to your father—if you do, it will only make things worse. As her son, don’t you think you ought to seek out your mother at once? Regardless of what she did in the past, I believe deep down you recognize her as your mother. No matter what kind of person she is, she is still your mother. She has been willing to give everything for you!”

Zhang Yichen hesitated. He knew his grandfather was right. Even if his mother had done many unforgivable things, in her heart, she always put him first, keeping him in a leading position. It was precisely because she prioritized his well-being, over and over, that she made those unforgivable mistakes. But those so-called good intentions were centered around her own perspective, never understanding what he really wanted. That’s why his mother went astray. So why should he continue to treat his mother like this? She had given up so much for him; shouldn’t he, as her son, reciprocate in some way? Did he really have to push it to this point to be satisfied? At the same time, he was also very afraid. He feared that even if he found his mother, she might not want to stay for him. He was terrified that his mother would once again harshly reject him, leaving him behind—an experience he could not bear for the rest of his life.

”Child, you know what you’re hesitating about. You’re just afraid that after you find your mother, she won’t agree to stay and will cruelly reject you again and leave alone, right? But you can only know if you try. How can you be sure of success if you don’t attempt it? Success comes from hard work. If you just sit back and wait, do you think your mother will come back? She will only feel that as her son, you don’t love her and don’t have her in your heart, so she won’t stay. If you truly want your mother by your side, then act quickly. Go find your mother. Don’t do something you’ll regret for the rest of your life...”

Zhang Yichen didn’t say anything in response. He hung up on Old Master Zhang and hurriedly called his mother. He knew that maybe making this call now was not too late; perhaps his mother hadn’t yet boarded the plane.

When Xia Jing saw it was a call from her son, she knew what it was about, but she chose not to answer the call.

Zhang Yichen knew his mother wouldn’t answer, so he sent her a message: ”Who allowed you to leave? If there’s any guilt left in your heart for me, your son, then don’t leave. If you feel you’ve wronged me, my wife, and my son, then please come back to us, and let’s live happily together. If my presence in your life doesn’t matter to you, then leave and never come back. I just want to know if my mother truly loves me. I don’t want you to abandon me again. You’ve already left me for over a decade. Are you going to choose to abandon me again during the remaining years of my life, along with my wife, my son, and my grandfather? I can’t accept that such a mother is my family. I only hope to have you by my side. Please fulfill this small request, which might not even be significant for you.”
