My Alleged Husband

Chapter 413: Chapter 392 Qualification_1

”Eligibility? Actually, that word really shouldn’t come from your mouth, should it? Since I was the one who brought you into this world, then I have the right to make any decisions about your life. You never considered me your father, so what gives you the right to demand that I treat you like my son?” Zhang Zhentian asked.

Zhang Yichen truly didn’t understand if there was something wrong with his dad’s head, or if there was a problem with his thinking. Such a simple question, yet he was still being asked.

”I don’t know what goes through your mind, nor do I know if you were born with a problem or if it’s due to some acquired intellectual deficiency, but I really don’t understand. You may have brought me into this world, but did you ever raise me? Have you ever said a single warm word to me? Have you ever truly loved me? Have you never hurt me? Have you really treated me like your own son and not just for your own benefit? Since the answer to all these is no, then do you think I’m qualified to criticize you as a father? You are a father, not an executioner. You should think from your son’s perspective and consider his life, but you never have. Every decision you made for me has always hurt me, again and again. It might be normal for you to hurt me, but do you know how much pain it causes me? You have never considered what kind of life I have to face because of your decisions, what kind of hurt and suffering I have to endure. You have never thought about it. You’re always obstinate, thinking that whatever decisions you make are the best for everyone, yet you never understand what I really want. Maybe in your eyes, I, your son, am insignificant. But do you get it? You are my father, a fact that I can never change, no matter what. Legally and by blood, I cannot deny that you are my biological father. And since I have acknowledged time and again that you are my father, could you please stop hurting me over and over again as an executioner? My mother decided to leave me, and you can’t tell me it has nothing to do with you because I will never believe it. My mother would never have made such a decision unless someone had completely broken her heart!”

”Is it only your mother in your eyes? Can’t you live without her? Do you really think that in this world, only your mother loves you, that I, as your father, do not love you? Do you know? When you say such things to your dad, it causes great pain, great suffering in my heart. When you uttered those words, did you ever consider my feelings as your father? You never thought about me—so why should I think about whether you are my son? You cannot escape the fact that you are my son for your entire life. So why do you pretend to say such warm words to me here? Don’t you think that saying this is rather laughable?”

As Zhang Yichen heard his father’s words, his heart grew more pained. He couldn’t believe that such insincere accusations were coming from his own biological father. But he had to admit, they were indeed his father’s words. Yet, what could he do now? Why use such words to wound his fragile heart again? In his father’s eyes, was he, the son, really that insignificant? To be hurt or exploited however seen fit? Did his father only see the value of interest in his son? Could he, for the sake of interest, discard his biological son time and again, regardless of the consequences? Why? Why treat himself in this way? Why was fate so unfair? Everyone else seemed to have a happy family, so why didn’t he? Why did others get to experience their parents’ love from a young age while he did not? Other children, from childhood to adulthood, would at least receive a phone call from their absent parents. Yet, where were his own mother and father? They never provided him with a single word of comfort, so why return now to scold him?

”Actually, I think fate is really unfair. It gave us all parents, but why do others’ parents get to stay by their children’s side, watch their children grow, even through all the hardships while mine are unwilling? I was so young at the time, would it have been so terrible to spend a few more days with me? Why did they have to abandon me early on, leaving me to drift alone in the world? If it wasn’t for me, how would I have ended up like this? Other parents can hardly bear a slight grievance against their child, but where were my parents when I suffered? Did they ever come to comfort me? Not once, because I never knew where my parents were. They never appeared by my side. I could only live with the dreams in my head, fantasizing that one day my parents would stand before me and bravely protect me when I was being bullied. But now I realize that all of it, every single bit, was just a mirage, like a mirage in the desert. I really don’t understand why fate gave me such a father, to torment me so much. Now I’m already a dad myself, I have my own little family, but I still can’t live happily with my own life. My mother, you have seen me, but my father used me like a pawn for his own purposes. How can I accept this?”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t know how to answer his son’s questions. Indeed, what right did he, as a father, have to criticize his own son? He had let so many mistakes slip by—could it be that this time, he truly was in the wrong?
