My Alleged Husband

Chapter 446: Chapter 425: Zhang Yichen’s Inquiry_1

”Alright, alright, stop lecturing me with all these what-ifs, just go lay down on the bed and sleep right now, and if you stay out late again and make Dad, Mom, and your great-grandfather worry, then you might as well not come back to this house anymore. Don’t you have any self-awareness? Don’t you realize how old he is already? He can’t handle any shock, but why don’t you ever consider the consequences when you do these things? Your great-grandfather is so good to you; if something were to happen to him because of your disappearance, could you live with yourself? Do you really never think about the consequences of your actions? Every time you do something, you should really think about what the consequences might be, whether it might hurt the people who care for you or those who love you. Every time you act, you need to think it through before making a decision. Don’t you know there’s a saying ’think thrice before you act’? I don’t know why you went out this time, or why you only came back so late at night, and I’m not sure if you’re lying to me because I can’t be certain you’re the same obedient son anymore. Dad and Mom don’t ask for much, just that you grow up happily, live honestly, and don’t let others look down on you, but what you did this time has really let us down. We never imagined our own son would not come back home till late at night, making the whole family worried sick, everyone waiting for him to return, but my son just came back so late!”

”Mom, you’ve already said this more than once. It’s enough that you’ve said it so many times, why do you keep bringing up the same thing again and again? It’s not like I haven’t apologized to you, it’s not like I did it on purpose. Do you think I wanted to stay out late? Who can say anything about that? It’s all just bad luck to run into that weirdo who forcibly kept me from coming home and caused you and Dad to worry, leading to me being scolded when I got back. I’m so mad at that weird old lady; why did she have to do that? Was it on purpose to harm me? Did she really want me to be scolded by you and Dad, so she deliberately held me back? What exactly was she planning? I never offended her; I never even knew her. Why would she do that without even a thought for how it would make me feel? I’ve never come across such selfish people, but today I saw for the first time how someone can make decisions completely regardless of the consequences. Mom, you always say to consider the consequences, so why didn’t that weird old lady think about that?”

Ran Zhihan did not expect her son to talk back to her, nor did she expect him to raise his voice at her. Was this still her well-behaved, sensible child? What had changed him overnight, making his temper so explosive.

”I am your mother, how can you talk to me with that tone? Do you no longer see me as your mother? Do you think that’s how you should talk to an elder? Is that what we taught you? Today you have really disappointed us. I don’t know what you’re saying or doing anymore; it’s hard to believe that such things could come from our obedient son. Can you give me a sensible explanation for why you changed so much in just one night? Maybe that weirdo said something to you? It’s not that I don’t believe every word you say; it’s just that I can’t fathom how my son could talk back so loudly to an elder. You used to be so well-mannered, but now, do you think you’re still the same? Don’t you realize how extreme you’ve become? Every word you say leaves us confused, your actions are unforgivable. Do you even know that Grandpa almost had a heart attack and was hospitalized because he was worried about you? Do you know that Dad almost went out to search for you in the car because he was so worried? Do you know that I almost broke down crying at home because of my worry? Why can’t you just understand and appreciate what we, as your elders, feel? Does listening to us harm you in any way? We just want you to be happy; is that wrong? Why can’t you appreciate the love your elders have for you and stay home without causing trouble?”

”Mom, I already said this wasn’t my fault, so why do you keep blaming me for it? I’ve explained myself clearly. I didn’t lie, I didn’t lie, I didn’t lie, I was really being held back by that weirdo. Why won’t you believe me? Is my word worth so little to you now? I’ve never lied before, so why do you think I am lying now? You didn’t even bother to find out the whole truth before you questioned my character and integrity. Do you know how much that hurts me? You’re my parents, my family, so why would you doubt me? Shouldn’t there be mutual trust among family members? Why does it seem different with you? Is it that hard to trust me, the most basic thing I ask from my parents? Am I to be condemned by everyone just because I’ve suddenly made one mistake? Mom, I am human, not a saint. I know I can’t live in this world without making a single mistake, and I know I’ve let you down this time, I’ve caused you unnecessary worry and didn’t update you in time, but I’ve already been tormented by you all, so why can’t you let it go?”

”You’ve really grown a wild gall talking back to your mom like this?”

Zhang Yichen suddenly came in and said to Zhang Ni.
