My Alleged Husband

Chapter 403: Chapter 382: Why Didn’t You Tell Me?_1

A few days later, Zhang Zhentian found out that Xia Jing had already returned to the Zhang Family. He felt very uncomfortable. His wife had decided to go back to her family but hadn’t said a word to him, her husband, not even a greeting. This made him feel extremely upset. Did he really mean nothing to her anymore?

Zhang Zhentian gave Xia Jing a call and asked her to meet him. He wanted to talk to her and clear things up because that was the only way he could feel at ease.

”So tell me, what’s the purpose of calling me out here? We don’t have any relationship now. You shouldn’t keep calling me so often. What if people misunderstand? You should think before you act, instead of always acting on impulse. Do you really think it’s okay to call me out from time to time like this? Don’t you think it has any impact?”

”Cut the crap. I just want to ask you why you went back home without saying a word to me. Not even a heads-up. Don’t you know I’ve been waiting for the day you’d return? I wanted to go back with you. But you went back without telling me anything. Do you really not want me to go back with you?”

”Excuse me, sir, you’re wrong. It’s not that I don’t want you to come back with me; I just can’t stand to see your disgusting face. Do you know? Since you forced a divorce on me and asked me to finalize the divorce papers, my heart has been dead to you. I have no feelings for you now; you’re just a stranger to me. I told you a long time ago that from now on when we meet, we should be strangers to each other. You have your path, and I have my bridge; we shouldn’t cross into each other’s lives. Why force it? But you never take my words seriously, always treating them like they’re nothing. How should I treat you? You always act as if I need to check in with you for everything I do. Did you ever consider my feelings when you decided to divorce me? You say you feel bad now about the way I treat you, but who empathized with my feelings when you treated me that way? You’ve always only considered yourself important. Don’t you know that you have to bear the consequences of your own decisions? You’re a grown man; don’t you understand this simple truth? Don’t you know that for everything you do, for every word you say, you have to pay the price that comes with it? Do you really think I should keep taking the fall for your mistakes? I have carried enough of your burdens, and I don’t want to be that person anymore. I don’t want to be your scapegoat any longer. I just want to live my own life now. I’ve found my own happiness, and I don’t want to see you because seeing you only brings back the pain of how you abandoned me, and that is unbearable!”

”So you’ve always felt this way in your heart. Haven’t I already told you that I know the decision I made before was a mistake? I’ve already apologized to you. What more do you want from me? Do you really want me to die in front of you? You’re not a heartless person, so why force yourself to say such cruel things to me? Do you think that’s fair? It hurts both of us. Do you really not want to continue living with me? Do you want to see our son always caught in the middle between us?” Zhang Zhentian said to Xia Jing, ”I never thought you could be this selfish. You used to live selfishly; do you think you’ve had enough now, so nothing matters? So you can just take everyone’s feelings for you for granted? Do you really think everyone should treat you like a precious jewel? Do you think everyone should consider you as important as their own life? Xia Jing, you’re too narcissistic. Do you always think you rule over everyone in the world? Do you really believe you can control everyone’s destiny and thoughts, making them your pawns? Right now, I don’t want to say anything more. I just hope you understand one thing. Don’t always think of persuading me to take responsibility for the wrongs I’ve done. You’ve made plenty of your own, have you borne the consequences for them? Why can you just decide to go home like that? You know what bothers me the most about you? It’s that whenever you make any decision, you never inform me, the one beside you in bed. You’ve never treated me like your husband. That’s what I’m most unsatisfied with. If you hadn’t been like that from the start, I wouldn’t have insisted on getting a divorce. Over the years, I have wondered if I was wrong to do that. How could I be so cruel to abandon you, my partner of over a decade? But in the end, I realized the truly cruel one isn’t me, it’s you. Your heart is the hardest of all. People say I’m heartless, but aren’t you? The truth is, everything you’ve done is more heartless than anything I’ve done. I still consider others; I think about how I’ll face them in the future, but you’ve never thought about the consequences of your whims. And I end up cleaning up the mess every time. Perhaps in your life, you’ve always seen me as someone to clean up after you. You may have never truly seen me as your husband. But let me tell you, I’ve always seen you as my wife. All I wanted was to make you happy and keep you from experiencing any discomfort. Yet, in the end, I realized I couldn’t even give you that humble love, because your love is too much for me to bear. I don’t love you any less; it’s just too humble. I loved you so much that I was willing to lose my dignity, but you still heartlessly abandoned me. You’re no longer the person beside me in bed from the past, and perhaps we can never go back!”
