My Alleged Husband

Chapter 99: Chapter 92 Family Harmony Promotes Prosperity_1

Old Master Zhang thought to himself, ”It’s only the first day of marriage and the couple is already going to sleep in separate beds. What will they do in the future?”

Sigh, Old Master Zhang really didn’t understand, why was being a parent so difficult? When his children were unmarried, he always thought about how he should act to be the best for them, but once they got married, he began to wonder how to make his son and daughter happy and fulfilled for life. It is really difficult!

In the quiet of the night, when Old Master Zhang was already asleep, Zhang Zhentian sneaked out of his own room. He stood at the door of Xia Jing’s room, pressed his ear to the door, and heard her slow breathing; Xia Jing was already asleep.

Zhang Zhentian stood up and looked around; he didn’t see anyone else there, so he quietly opened Xia Jing’s room door and locked it from the inside after getting in.

He laid down beside Xia Jing, who seemed to have entered deep sleep. Although Zhang Zhentian wanted to consummate the marriage with Xia Jing as soon as possible, he didn’t want to do so under such circumstances. Thus, he forcefully suppressed his desire, not letting himself lose control.

”Xia Jing, do you know? Today, I was only trying to test you. I’ve always had this idea, wanting to live the life of a mercenary with you, but I know we can’t leave this place on our own until we have a child for my father. So, I truly hope you can forgive me for what I said to you today. I am afraid you wouldn’t want to live a mediocre life with me. Today, I hurt you, and I am sincerely sorry. I wonder if you can forgive me? Do you know how much it pained me to see you crying in front of me, how much I couldn’t bear it? Seeing how upset you were by my words, I realized how important I am to you, which made me even more determined to love you for a lifetime. Maybe you don’t know, but once the men of the Zhang family make a decision, they will love that woman for life, without any regrets,” Zhang Zhentian whispered into Xia Jing’s ear as he held her.

He foolishly thought that Xia Jing was really asleep, but how could he know that although Xia Jing had indeed been asleep, she woke up the moment Zhang Zhentian entered the room. She remained motionless in bed, letting Zhang Zhentian lie down beside her, still without stirring. Xia Jing thought that Zhang Zhentian might just check if she was sleeping and then leave, but contrary to her expectations, he lay down directly next to her. What she didn’t expect even more was that all the words Zhang Zhentian said to her that night were just to test her. Xia Jing felt hurt, silently shedding tears without making a sound, crying beside Zhang Zhentian without him knowing. She felt that Zhang Zhentian was being foolish; since she had decided to be with him against all odds, of course, she had made up her mind to follow him. Why would he do this! Xia Jing felt wronged but was still waiting for what Zhang Zhentian would say next.

After ten minutes, when Zhang Zhentian still hadn’t spoken, she could not help turning over to look at him, only to find that Zhang Zhentian had fallen asleep holding her. She felt so speechless, this was no way to apologize sincerely.

Xia Jing turned over to hug Zhang Zhentian, her heart full of words she wanted to say to him, but never got the chance. She felt that now was a good opportunity, while Zhang Zhentian was asleep, to share her thoughts: ”Zhentian, you really are foolish. Do you know that once a woman decides to marry you, her heart can only love you from that moment on? Do you realize that when a woman is willing to bring you home to meet her parents, even if it means lying to them, she still wants to bring you home because it means she genuinely wants to spend her life with you, that she truly loves you? Although my parents are no longer with us, if they were, I would have defiantly taken you home. Perhaps it’s because I never had that chance that you’ve doubted my love for you again and again. Zhentian, do you know, from the very first day I met you, I started to like you, but I never dared to tell you? I’ve made many mistakes, and I don’t dare ask for your forgiveness because I’m afraid that once I tell you, you won’t choose to forgive me. Do you know, my thoughts are very much like yours? Whenever I see other parents walking with their children on the street, I wish so much that I could have a child with you to live a carefree life every day. I know you never intended to take over the Zhang Corporation, but I never imagined that you would choose to take me with you far from home after we had our own son! When you said those words to me, how I wanted to turn around and hold you, you fool. Do you know that I was still waiting for what comes next from you, yet you just went to sleep...I was actually looking forward to taking the initiative to talk about having a son with you, it seems I’ll have to wait for another time!”
