My Alleged Husband

Chapter 92: Chapter 88 Where is Our Wedding Date_2

”Get out, who the hell are you to tell me what to do? Even my fiancé doesn’t bother with me, why are you meddling in my affairs?” Xia Jing yelled at Zhang Zhentian.

”Xia Jing, it’s me, Zhentian, Zhang Zhentian, don’t tell me you don’t even recognize me now?” Zhang Zhentian grabbed Xia Jing’s hand, forcing her to meet his gaze!

Xia Jing pondered for a few seconds before asking, ”Are you really Zhentian?”

”Yes, I’m Zhentian, Zhang Zhentian!” Zhang Zhentian emphasized his tone in the face of Xia Jing’s disbelief, wanting her to believe that he was indeed Zhang Zhentian.

”No, you’re lying to me, you’re not Zhang Zhentian. Zhang Zhentian doesn’t care about me. Who are you, and why are you pretending to be Zhang Zhentian? Are you trying to steal my money? Or are you thinking of—taking advantage of me?” Xia Jing was frightened by her own thoughts, frantically using her hands to cover her chest. Seeing this, Zhang Zhentian didn’t know what to say; it was a move that only an idiotic woman would make!

”Xia Jing, I am truly Zhang Zhentian. After you left this place, it was I who brought you back from the UK, have you forgotten?” Zhang Zhentian knew that with Xia Jing being drunk, words alone wouldn’t make things clear, so he could only use their shared experiences to prove his identity!

”You’re right, are you really Zhang Zhentian?” Xia Jing asked again.

”I am Zhang Zhentian!” Zhang Zhentian replied affirmatively.

”Zhentian, you finally came for me, I thought you didn’t want me anymore.” Xia Jing threw herself into Zhang Zhentian’s arms and began to cry.

Zhang Zhentian heard Xia Jing’s sobs and knew she was truly heartbroken. Throughout their time together, he had hardly ever seen her cry, and certainly not with such heart-wrenching tears. Xia Jing’s cries made Zhang Zhentian feel that it was his fault that she was so distraught.

”Zhentian, do you know Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan are getting married?” Xia Jing asked.

Zhang Zhentian quickly informed Xia Jing: Actually, you just told me, you just didn’t know it was me!

”What about it?” Zhang Zhentian still pretended to be clueless.

”Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan got engaged after us, but they’re going to get married before us, and I can’t accept it. Did you know that Jiayuan asked her father about their marriage herself? I want to know why you haven’t talked to your dad about our marriage?” Xia Jing asked with some confusion.

”Let’s talk about it later, rest assured, I will definitely marry you, you don’t need to worry about that!” Zhang Zhentian thought Xia Jing was saying these words out of fear he wouldn’t marry her.

After hearing this, Xia Jing felt quite bitter and said to Zhang Zhentian, ”Zhang Zhentian, what do you mean? Do you think I’m saying this because I’m afraid you won’t marry me? If that’s what you think, then let me tell you, you’re wrong. Xia Jing doesn’t need you, and if that’s what you believe, then we might as well not get married at all!”

Zhang Zhentian didn’t expect that Xia Jing would guess his thoughts so easily. He said to her, ”Xia Jing, that’s not what I meant, you’re overthinking it!”

”Zhang Zhentian, how could I not know what you’re thinking? I hope you remember, not every woman who asks you this kind of question is because she’s afraid you won’t marry her. A woman who asks you like this is because she truly wants to be with you for a lifetime, and it’s not just for fun. Remember that!” Having said this, Xia Jing pulled her hand away from Zhang Zhentian’s grasp and turned towards the door, her heart heavy with sorrow. She hadn’t expected the man she sincerely wanted to spend her life with could think this way about her.

Zhang Zhentian watched Xia Jing’s retreating figure and hurried after her. He caught Xia Jing and said, ”Xia Jing, I admit that when I heard what you said earlier, I did think that way, but I don’t anymore, I was wrong. Please, don’t be mad, it was wrong of me to think that about you.”

As he spoke, Zhang Zhentian slapped himself twice, still begging for Xia Jing’s forgiveness: ”My dear, it’s my fault, I shouldn’t have misunderstood you, if someone else takes you away because you’re so beautiful, what would I do? Do you want me to stay a bachelor all my life?”

...

Zhang Zhentian kept talking endlessly in Xia Jing’s ear until she couldn’t stand it anymore and finally agreed: ”Remember what you said today.”

”Yes, yes, I remember,” Zhang Zhentian quickly echoed.

An hour later, sitting side by side by the lakeside, Zhang Zhentian said to Xia Jing, ”Look, the scenery here is still so beautiful, just like you, it hasn’t changed at all...”

To be honest, men’s sweet talk can be quite impressive—a few short words can easily make a girl who was heartbroken just a second ago bloom with joy.

”Sigh!” Xia Jing couldn’t help but sigh and said to Zhang Zhentian, ”The scenery is indeed beautiful!”

”Then why sigh?” Zhang Zhentian asked Xia Jing, puzzled.

”I have to admit the scenery here is truly beautiful, but what about our wedding date? Our wedding seems to be an indefinite prospect!” Xia Jing said to Zhang Zhentian with melancholy.

Zhang Zhentian paused, thinking that perhaps he should indeed go back and discuss his wedding date with his father,

”Xia Jing, I will go back and talk to my dad about our wedding date, then set a time. I hope to get it done before Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei’s wedding, what do you think?” Zhang Zhentian inquired.

Xia Jing hadn’t expected Zhang Zhentian to take the initiative to suggest discussing the wedding date; of course, she was happy. She said to Zhang Zhentian, ”Thank you!”

Zhang Zhentian was satisfied with such a life, realizing that nothing was more important than a family being happy together!
