My Alleged Husband

Chapter 95: Chapter 90 Are You Doing This on Purpose?_1

Zhang Zhentian helped Xia Jing get out of a tight spot, but Li Jiayuan was not about to let Xia Jing off so easily. She spoke up to Xia Jing, ”Xia Jing, Xiao Wei sees you as an elder sister. If you don’t mind, I’d like to call you ’Elder Sister’ too, okay?”

Xia Jing truly hadn’t expected Li Jiayuan to say these words to her; after all, they had been romantic rivals. And now they were supposed to address each other as sisters? Wasn’t this change too abrupt? Even Xia Jing felt that everything was evolving too quickly!

”Of course, that’s fine. I actually think you’re quite suited to be my sister because you’re just like me—you never give up!” Xia Jing told Li Jiayuan.

”Really?” Li Jiayuan looked at Xia Jing with unexpectedly genuine happiness. To an outsider, it might seem like Li Jiayuan simply wanted a sister, but those in the know understood what Li Jiayuan was up to!

”It’s definitely true! I never lie to anyone!” Xia Jing assured Li Jiayuan, but how could she have guessed that she – always so clever – would be outmaneuvered by this girl, Li Jiayuan!

”Since Elder Sister says so, it would be really poor form for the younger sister not to give you a big gift!” Li Jiayuan smiled mischievously at Xiao Wei, and he quickly got the hint. Xiao Wei moved towards Xia Jing, lifted her up in his arms, and Xia Jing was startled. Zhang Zhentian, overcome with jealousy, stared daggers at Xiao Wei.

”Brother-in-law, why are you glowering at me? Elder Sister Xia is like a real sister to me. Today, she’s getting married, and as her brother, shouldn’t I be permitted to carry her over to you?” Xiao Wei, unaffected by the glare from Zhang Zhentian, said to him.

Ah, these two really were both so naively sentimental. And they say like attracts like! With both being so simple-minded, how could they not be deceived?

Zhang Zhentian thought Xiao Wei was indeed just being brotherly, so he didn’t say much. He stood at the top of the aisle, silently waiting for Xiao Wei to bring Xia Jing to him, beaming. But just as he was basking in happiness, Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan made their move.

”Zhang Zhentian, I bet you can’t wait to exchange rings with Elder Sister and whisk her off to the bridal chamber, right?” Li Jiayuan looked at Zhang Zhentian with a sly smile, a terrible suspicion suddenly rising in his mind.

”Xiao Wei, don’t do this, please don’t mess with Zhentian!” Xia Jing was still pleading with Xiao Wei, hoping he would convince Li Jiayuan to stop, but Xiao Wei simply wouldn’t follow Xia Jing’s wishes.

”Sister, we’re doing this for your own good. Think about it—if Zhang Zhentian truly loves you, he would definitely be willing to pay any price to marry you. Otherwise, how can we feel assured handing you over to him?” Xiao Wei shared his perspective with Xia Jing.

Xia Jing thought about it and it seemed to make sense, so she let Xiao Wei steer her thoughts!

Xiao Wei nodded at Li Jiayuan, signaling that Xia Jing was on board. Now it was time for Li Jiayuan to take the stage!

”Li Jiayuan, what exactly are you trying to do?” Zhang Zhentian’s patience was wearing thin, as he asked Li Jiayuan angrily.

”Zhang Zhentian, why the aggression? Don’t you still want to marry my sister? Xia Jing is now my sister, and if you marry her, you’ll become my brother-in-law. Is this how you treat your sister-in-law? Apologize, now!” Li Jiayuan’s move was quite crafty, her remarks left Zhang Zhentian at a loss for words, reduced to simply glaring at Li Jiayuan.

Was Zhang Zhentian really that naive? Did he think that if he just glared at Li Jiayuan, she would dial back her arrogance?

Seeing Zhang Zhentian speechless with indignation, Li Jiayuan felt a surge of satisfaction. She thought silently to herself: Zhang Zhentian, oh Zhang Zhentian, you could never have anticipated this, could you? I’ve never acknowledged Xia Jing as my sister, yet today, of all days, I’m using her sisterly identity to openly take you down. It’s pitiful that even now, when you realize my intentions, you can’t voice them. After all, the plan is set—no matter how capable you are, you couldn’t ruin the wedding Xia Jing has always dreamt of!

”Li Jiayuan, you’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you?” Zhang Zhentian, having figured out the day’s events, asked Li Jiayuan in a low voice.
