My Alleged Husband

Chapter 89: Chapter 87 Why Are You So Silly_1

Li Haixiao had suspected that the kidney was Li Jiayuan’s, but when he saw Li Jiayuan hopping and jumping around in front of him, he ruled her out. He then wondered who would be so kind as to give up their own kidney. He felt so guilty, chastising himself for not thinking of something so simple. Who else but his closest loved ones would donate their kidney to him?

After Xiao Wei left, Li Haixiao lay on the bed alone, deep in thought, ”I wonder how Jiayuan is doing now.”

Since learning that it was Li Jiayuan who had donated the kidney to him, he no longer made a fuss about being discharged early. He felt he should stay in the hospital for a while longer, to observe carefully; he believed he shouldn’t let his daughter’s kindness be in vain.

Time really does fly, and in the blink of an eye, a week had passed. During this week, neither Li Jiayuan nor Xiao Wei visited Li Haixiao, nor did he call Li Jiayuan to ask where she was. If this were before Li Haixiao knew the truth, he would have definitely called to ask. But now, knowing Jiayuan was in the hospital and why she was hospitalized, he naturally didn’t call.

Li Jiayuan’s week went fairly well, but not so much for Li Haixiao. Ever since he had learned the truth, he would occasionally think about going to see Li Jiayuan, but he didn’t know what he could say once he got there.

Li Haixiao was restless in his room; he really wanted to see Li Jiayuan. He didn’t want to only hear about her condition through Xiao Wei—he needed to see for himself that she was safe to be truly at ease.

In the afternoon, Li Haixiao leaned against the hallway wall, limping towards Li Jiayuan’s ward.

”Uncle, why are you here?” Just as Xiao Wei was stepping out of Li Jiayuan’s ward, he saw Li Haixiao standing at the door.

Xia Jing and Li Jiayuan heard Xiao Wei speaking to someone from inside the room, and Li Jiayuan asked, ”Xiao Wei, who are you talking to?”

Xia Jing was also curious; to whom would Xiao Wei be calling ”Uncle”?

Xiao Wei did not answer Li Jiayuan’s question, so Xia Jing decided to go out to see who Xiao Wei was talking to; she wanted to know as well.

When Xia Jing opened the door and saw Xiao Wei standing with Li Haixiao, she paused, not knowing why Li Haixiao was there. She glanced at Xiao Wei from the corner of her eye, and he nodded at her. That’s when she understood—Xiao Wei had already told Li Haixiao about the situation, so that’s why he was here!

”Uncle, did you come to see Jiayuan?” Xia Jing asked.

”Yes, Xia Jing, I had some misunderstandings about you before, you’re not mad at Uncle, are you?” Li Haixiao asked with a smile.

Xia Jing smiled back at Li Haixiao and said, ”Uncle, of course not. Since you’re here to see Jiayuan, why don’t you go in?”

Xia Jing couldn’t understand why Li Haixiao, having come all the way, wasn’t going in to see Li Jiayuan.

”Elder Sister Xia, Jiayuan doesn’t know yet that I have told Uncle about this. If Uncle goes in now, she will definitely realize I told him,” Xiao Wei said to Xia Jing. Although he had mustered the courage to tell Li Haixiao, he was still afraid of how Li Jiayuan might react.

”Uncle, please go in. It’s been so long, I think Jiayuan must be missing you, and we hope that when you go in, you could keep Xiao Wei’s secret, could you?” Xia Jing turned to Li Haixiao.

”OK, OK, that’s no problem, then I’ll go in now!” Li Haixiao, upon hearing he could visit Li Jiayuan, was thrilled. After so many days, he was longing to see her but hadn’t found the right moment until now.

Li Haixiao slowly stepped into Li Jiayuan’s ward.

The moment he pushed the door open, Li Jiayuan, who had been wanting to see her father every day, looked up and forgot to breathe, not knowing how to react at seeing him.

”Jiayuan, Daddy’s here to see you. Are you feeling any better?” Li Haixiao asked with concern.

Li Jiayuan’s worries faded. She thought she might be dreaming, pinched her face hard, ”Ouch, it really hurts. It’s not a dream!” She cried out with joy, ”Wow, Dad, it’s really you! I’m not dreaming; I’ve missed you so much, Daddy!”

Xia Jing and Xiao Wei stood at the door, looking at the two embracing inside, both feeling happy for Li Jiayuan.
