My Alleged Husband

Chapter 93: Chapter 89: Wedding in the Dream_1

Zhang Zhentian had seldom felt such satisfaction. Perhaps he had once thought that he and Xia Jing wouldn’t make it to the end, but now he would never think that way. He would pamper Xia Jing, cherish her, until he left this world!

The two of them hurriedly parted, each heading toward their respective homes.

”Zhentian, you’re back?” Old Master Zhang saw Zhang Zhentian returning and asked excitedly.

”Dad, I have something I want to discuss with you,” Zhang Zhentian said to Old Master Zhang.

”Just in time, I also have something I’d like to talk to you about. Come over and sit down!” Old Master Zhang gestured to Zhang Zhentian to sit beside him.

”Dad, you go first!”

”Zhentian, you’ve been engaged to Xia Jing for so long, when do you plan to get married? I heard that Li Haixiao’s daughter, Li Jiayuan, is about to get married soon. You and Xia Jing wouldn’t still be trailing behind her, would you? If that’s the case, it won’t do. I’m still waiting to hold my grandson! So I’m asking if you could get married to Xia Jing sooner rather than later?” Old Master Zhang felt that the wedding between Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing shouldn’t be delayed too long, lest trouble brews over time.

Zhang Zhentian hadn’t expected his father to bring up the matter proactively; wasn’t he coming back just for this reason today? By saying this, all he had to do was to agree by simply going with the flow, right?

”Dad, to tell you the truth, the matter I wanted to discuss with you today is the same one you just mentioned. I think since Xia Jing and I have been engaged for so long now, we should get married. I can’t just stay engaged and never marry in my life, right? How could you hold a grandson if I don’t get married? Isn’t that right?” Zhang Zhentian said to Old Master Zhang with a grin.

Old Master Zhang already wanted to hold his grandson as soon as possible, so hearing Zhang Zhentian put it this way made him even happier. He agreed enthusiastically, ”Yes, yes, you’re absolutely right, that’s the logic. So, what you mean is?”

Old Master Zhang still couldn’t quite grasp the real intention behind what Zhang Zhentian was saying to him.

”Dad, how can you be so muddled at this time? Don’t you understand what I mean?” Zhang Zhentian looked at Old Master Zhang with a speechless expression. Old Master Zhang looked back at Zhang Zhentian and truly hadn’t figured out the meaning, and Zhang Zhentian’s words only confused him further.

”I don’t know!” Old Master Zhang said to Zhang Zhentian, appearing very sincere.

Zhang Zhentian found himself at his wit’s end with Elder Zhang and said to his old man, ”Dad, how can you always say you don’t know with such a simple question? What I mean is very straightforward: as long as you agree, Xia Jing and I can get married anytime. I feel that being engaged for so long indeed shouldn’t just drag on, so I was wondering if we could hold the wedding next month? What do you think of that?”

My goodness, this kid is even more anxious than I am. It seems that even if I didn’t bring up the matter today, he still would have come to me. Had I known this, why would I have taken the trouble? Old Master Zhang couldn’t help thinking to himself upon hearing Zhang Zhentian’s response.

”Zhentian, dad has a question to ask you,” Old Master Zhang began cautiously.

Zhang Zhentian didn’t understand what else his father could possibly have to ask him. He stood still and said to Old Master Zhang, ”Dad, go ahead, what is it that you need to ask me personally?”

Even though Zhang Zhentian appeared to be grinning at Old Master Zhang, in fact, his smiles didn’t reach his eyes. When he was in a good mood, his words to Old Master Zhang were warm and affectionate, but if he was in a bad mood, his words felt sour. Despite Old Master Zhang still being Zhang Zhentian’s biological father, if Old Master Zhang said or did anything that wasn’t to Zhentian’s liking, Zhentian wouldn’t hesitate to lash out!

”I wanted to ask where you plan to hold Xia Jing’s wedding ceremony?” Originally, this wasn’t the question Old Master Zhang wanted to ask. He wanted to ask: after you marry Xia Jing, when could I hold my grandchild? But Old Master Zhang still had some sense of self-awareness. If he heard even a slightly unfriendly tone in Zhang Zhentian’s response, he would quickly change the subject. He didn’t want to upset his son for any reason, while Zhang Zhentian didn’t understand the heart of a father at all!
