My Alleged Husband

Chapter 74: Chapter 72 Formal Confession_1

Xiao Wei had already stepped out of Xia Jing’s door, but then he turned back around. Seeing Xiao Wei return, she suppressed a smile and asked, ”Didn’t you leave? Why are you back again?”

Xiao Wei was at a loss for words. He said to Xia Jing, ”Sis, you clearly know why I came back. Why ask something you already know?”

”Oh? How would I know why you came back?” Xia Jing asked, feigning ignorance.

”Alright, I know you just want me to spell it out, so I’ll tell you. It’s because Jiayuan is still here, that’s why I came back!”

”So you mean to say that if Jiayuan weren’t here, you wouldn’t have come back?” Xia Jing looked displeased.

Realizing he’d said the wrong thing, Xiao Wei replied with a smile, ”Sis, that’s impossible. Even if Jiayuan weren’t here, I would have come back. I’m not the type to be ungrateful!”

”Alright, there’s something I want to ask you. Have you ever formally confessed your feelings to Jiayuan?”

”How should I put it, kind of!” Xiao Wei wasn’t sure if what he had said to Li Jiayuan before counted as a confession, so that was the best answer he could give Xia Jing.

”What do you mean ’kind of’? Either you have or you haven’t. Never mind, I don’t care if you did before, but now, no matter what, you should formally confess to Jiayuan. She’s done so much for you; you can’t let her never hear a proper confession from you, right?”

Xia Jing crossed her arms and leaned against the doorframe, just watching Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei fell deep into thought. He knew Xia Jing was right and that she wanted what was best for him and Li Jiayuan. But he still had things to do and, besides, how would someone who had never confessed know how to do it? He said to Xia Jing, ”Sis, even if I want to confess, shouldn’t I prepare something? Could you give me some advice on what girls like? Then tell me, and I will go prepare. How about that?”

”Xiao Wei, are you confused about something? You’re the one confessing, not me. Since when does one need someone else’s advice on what to prepare for their own confession? Isn’t that something one prepares by themselves? Why does it become a matter of seeking someone else’s advice when it comes to you?” Xia Jing glared at Xiao Wei, clearly unhappy. She said, ”If you truly like Li Jiayuan, then you should know what she likes and dislikes...”

”Of course, I know that! She likes me, and she doesn’t like to see me with other women!” Upon hearing Xia Jing’s words, Xiao Wei subconsciously blurted out the answer without thinking.

When Xia Jing heard what Xiao Wei said, she didn’t even know how to respond. She kicked Xiao Wei lightly with her foot and said, ”I also know that she likes you. Any woman wouldn’t want to see her boyfriend with some other strange woman. Seriously, can’t you use your brain a bit? I can’t believe you said something like that!”

”Then how would I know what things she likes! She’s never told me,” Xiao Wei said with a sigh.

”I mean that you could observe and find out what things she likes.” Xia Jing, looking at Xiao Wei who seemed clueless about everything, was so frustrated she felt like tearing him apart. Containing her own disappointment and anger, she said, ”To put it plainly, if you really don’t know anything, then just buy some roses, set up the scene, play some music at the right moment, and say some romantic lines. That would be more useful than whatever else you do. You’re so clueless, I’ve never met anyone as foolish as you!”

Finally grasping what Xia Jing meant, Xiao Wei hastily thanked her, ”Sis, thank you. I know what to do now. I’ll start setting things up right away. When Jiayuan wakes up, please let her know that I’ll be waiting for her at Stardust Legend!”

Without waiting for Xia Jing to reply, Xiao Wei ran out.

Xia Jing was stunned when Xiao Wei mentioned ”Stardust Legend” and waiting for Li Jiayuan. She knew very well that ”Stardust Legend” was the biggest bar in City A. To say nothing of dining there, even a cup of tea would cost several hundred yuan. She thought, ”It seems that Xiao Wei really went all out for Li Jiayuan this time.”

After Xiao Wei left, Li Jiayuan slowly came to, not because she had slept enough but because the excessive drinking had left her desperately thirsty.

Seeing Li Jiayuan awake, Xia Jing sauntered over and teased, ”Miss Li, gracing us with consciousness at last? Let’s see if you dare to drink so much again next time!”

Li Jiayuan saw that she was lying on Xia Jing’s bed, looked at Xia Jing with an embarrassed smile, and said, ”Xia Jing, I just had a dream. I dreamt that Xiao Wei was by my side, keeping me company, saying lots of moving things. But when I woke up, I realized he wasn’t actually there. It seems dreams really aren’t reality!”

”Miss Li, why the sighs and laments? Just because you didn’t see Xiao Wei at your side when you woke up, you’re going to ignore the presence of your good friend?” Xia Jing deliberately teased Li Jiayuan.

”No, it’s not that. It’s just... having seen him in my dreams and then waking up to find it was all just a dream, you can’t help but feel a bit disappointed no matter what,” Li Jiayuan said with her head down.

Xia Jing, seeing Li Jiayuan like this, didn’t dare to tease her any further, fearful that she might make her cry again.

”I have good news for you. You weren’t dreaming. Xiao Wei did come by while you were out like a light. Those words you heard in your dream, they weren’t fake. He was the one speaking to you, stroking your forehead by your side.”

”Really?” Li Jiayuan’s spirits lifted instantly.

Xia Jing shook her head and said, ”Ah, the power of love really is incredible. It can give someone who is about to hit rock bottom a reason to hope! Li Jiayuan, do you think this is a good thing? Every time Xiao Wei is mentioned, you’re like a chicken blood injection. But when he’s not around, look at yourself—you’re practically a walking corpse. With an attitude like that, if I told you a secret, wouldn’t you die of happiness?”

”Eh, what other good news is there? Hurry up and tell me. Is it about Xiao Wei?” Li Jiayuan asked excitedly.

”Alright, I won’t tease you anymore. Xiao Wei asked me to tell you to go find him once you wake up. He’s waiting for you at ’Stardust Legend’!”

Although Li Jiayuan was Li Haixiao’s daughter, she was still shocked by the mention of ”Stardust Legend.” She thought, That’s Stardust Legend, many rich people are reluctant to go because everything there is just too expensive...

”Xia Jing, did I hear wrong? Xiao Wei really said he’s waiting for me at Stardust Legend?” Li Jiayuan asked again, in disbelief.

”Yes, you heard right. It’s Stardust Legend. You better hurry up, or he will be anxiously waiting!” Xia Jing reminded her.

”Right, right, I should hurry or Xiao Wei will be worried.” Li Jiayuan was about to leave but then turned back and asked, ”Xia Jing, why don’t you come with me?”

”Me? What are you joking about? I have no interest in being the third wheel. You should go by yourself. As long as you two have fun, that’s good enough for me. I’ll just stay at home and cook something to eat.”

Seeing Xia Jing decline, Li Jiayuan didn’t insist and turned to leave. Xia Jing, watching her retreating figure, muttered to herself: Damn Zhang Zhentian, you haven’t even formally confessed to me yet. But with the way things are between us now, I don’t mind.
