My Alleged Husband

Chapter 53: Chapter 52 Matchmaking for Li Jiayuan _1

Zhang Zhentian, after a passionate kiss with Xia Jingyi, left her gasping for breath, her face flushed red like an apple. Zhentian tenderly caressed Xia Jing’s cheek as she shyly said to him, ”Zhentian, stop that!”

When Zhentian heard Xia Jing speak to him in such a tone, it felt as if his heart was brushed with honey.

”Okay, since my wife has spoken, I definitely must comply, right?” Zhentian teased Xia Jing.

Xia Jing was pleased with her response to Zhentian, ”Of course, who else would I be but your wife!”

Zhentian, listening to Xia Jing acknowledge herself as his wife, looked into her eyes and said tenderly, ”Xia Jing, if I don’t take over Zhang Corporation, I may not be able to give you the life of the rich, but I promise to treat you well for the rest of my life and always, I just hope you can trust me.”

Hearing Zhentian’s words, Xia Jing couldn’t help but tease him, ”Can I take what you said today as a promise to me?”

Xia Jing blinked her eyes at Zhentian, whose expression made him laugh.

The two chatted by the lakeside, exchanging words and bursts of laughter from time to time.

......

As night fell.

”Xia Jing, where shall we go now?” Zhentian said, ”It feels a bit cold, it’s probably going to rain. How about we go back to the Zhang Family together? Dad will be so happy to know you accepted my proposal!”

Xia Jing was shocked by what Zhentian had just blurted out; she didn’t know whether Li Jiayuan had called Old Master Zhang to inform him about the matter. If Li Jiayuan hadn’t called to explain the situation, and she just abruptly accepted Zhentian’s proposal, Old Master Zhang would definitely be angry.

Zhentian noticed Xia Jing standing still, not saying a word, and he was curious about what she was thinking. He reached out and embraced her in his arms. Xia Jing, thinking she had lost her balance and was about to fall into the lake, screamed out, and Zhentian quickly asked, ”What’s wrong, what’s wrong, Xia Jing?”

Hearing Zhentian’s voice close to her ear, Xia Jing looked behind her to make sure she hadn’t fallen into the lake, and her heart settled.

”You scared me to death! I thought I was going to fall into the lake!” Xia Jing said, patting her chest.

”Sorry, I didn’t mean to. I saw you were so lost in thought, I couldn’t help but hold you. But to my surprise, the usually fearless and reckless Xia Jing can also feel scared. If we tell others about it, I doubt anyone would believe it!” Zhentian said, beginning to laugh, then spoke to Xia Jing, ”But honestly, what were you thinking about so deeply just now?”

”Nothing much, Zhentian. Uncle said Li Jiayuan has to call to tell him she forgives me before it’s considered valid. Now I don’t even know if Li Jiayuan has called Uncle. If she hasn’t, and we go back to tell Uncle I accepted your proposal, he won’t be pleased!” Xia Jing said with a worried face as she asked Zhentian.

After hearing Xia Jing’s analysis, Zhentian thought that she made sense. He said to her, ”True, here’s what we can do. Let’s go back and ask Dad if Li Jiayuan has called him, and then we can tell him about my proposal to you. What do you think?”

Xia Jing thought about it and felt that Zhentian’s suggestion was feasible.

”Alright, let’s go!”

Just like that, the two happily decided to go to the Zhang Family to find Old Master Zhang.

Zhang Family.

”Uncle, I’ve come to see you.” As soon as Xia Jingyi entered, she embraced Old Master Zhang, who gently patted Xia Jing’s back and said to her, ”Xia Jing, well done. Uncle hasn’t misjudged you. Li Jiayuan has already called me. She said she has forgiven you!”

Before Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing had a chance to ask, Old Master Zhang effortlessly gave them the answer.

Zhang Zhentian was over the moon. He hugged Old Master Zhang and Xia Jing tightly and excitedly said to Xia Jing, ”Xia Jing, after all we’ve been through, it has finally paid off.”

After he finished speaking to Xia Jing, he hurriedly asked Old Master Zhang, ”Dad, can I now be with Xia Jing?”

Old Master Zhang was also excited beyond words. He had witnessed how much Zhang Zhentian had gone through to be with Xia Jing. Watching the journey his son had taken, he took Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian’s hands into his own and said to them, ”Congratulations, after going through so much, you can finally be together!”

After Old Master Zhang finished speaking, he placed Xia Jing’s hand into Zhang Zhentian’s palm. Zhang Zhentian knew then that his father truly approved of their relationship. He held Xia Jing’s hand tightly, and she grasped Old Master Zhang’s hand firmly.

”Uncle, thank you!”

Zhang Zhentian suddenly remembered that Xia Jing had already accepted his proposal by the lake. He turned around with a cheeky smile to face Old Master Zhang, who felt a chill go down his spine under Zhang Zhentian’s gaze.

”Speak up if you have something to say. Don’t look at me with such eyes!” Old Master Zhang said sternly to Zhang Zhentian.

”Dad, I have some good news. Xia Jing has accepted my proposal!” Zhang Zhentian said, jumping up excitedly. He ran over and hugged Old Master Zhang, who felt very comforted. He had not expected that merely agreeing to let Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian be together would make Zhang Zhentian so jubilant. He regretted the decision he had made initially, which had caused the loving couple to miss several chances to be together. Old Master Zhang felt relieved in his heart, thinking, ”I’m glad that I ultimately agreed to let them be together, otherwise I might never see Zhentian this happy again in my lifetime.”

Xia Jing seemed to see right through what Old Master Zhang was thinking. She began saying to Old Master Zhang, ”Uncle, I want to thank you. If you hadn’t initially disapproved of me being with Zhentian, I wouldn’t have gone through so much with him. Nor would I have known how much Zhentian loves me. I thank you for letting us witness how strong love can be, how deep feelings can run.”

Just as Old Master Zhang was about to speak, Xia Jing continued, ”Uncle, I’m not saying this to mock you, but to sincerely thank you. Although we had many misunderstandings in the past, now that they are resolved and you have agreed to let us be together, you made me realize I can’t live without Zhentian, and that I can give up everything for him!”

Xia Jing spoke sincerely to Old Master Zhang, who had not expected her to be so magnanimous. Despite how he’d treated her, she not only didn’t mind but also thanked him. What a wonderful girl she was; how could he have been so heartless to separate them before? It seemed he must have been blinded by something!

Old Master Zhang’s approval of Xia Jing grew even more in his heart.

Zhang Zhentian winked at Xia Jing, and she immediately caught on. She turned to Old Master Zhang and said, ”Uncle, I want to help matchmake Li Jiayuan with Xiao Wei. When I went to apologize to Li Jiayuan, I inadvertently found out she has feelings for Xiao Wei. So, I went back to test Xiao Wei’s reaction, and it turns out he has feelings for Li Jiayuan too. Hence, if both of them are truly interested in each other, I would like to help them get together. What do you think about this proposal, Uncle?”

After hearing Xia Jing’s proposal, Old Master Zhang thought for a while and felt it might be a good decision, so he agreed with Xia Jing’s suggestion.

”This is a good idea. Well then, I’ll leave this arduous task to you!” Old Master Zhang patted Xia Jing on the shoulder.

Xia Jing was caught off guard. She had thought that Old Master Zhang would lend a hand, but he had simply entrusted the task to her by himself.

Xia Jing turned to Zhang Zhentian, who shrugged at her. She suddenly felt helpless and consoled herself internally: No matter, stay strong Xia Jing. You can do this, Zhentian will surely help you!
