My Alleged Husband

Chapter 90: Chapter 87 Why Are You So Silly_2

”Silly child, tell me the truth, are you hiding something from your father?” Li Haixiao stared at Li Jiayuan.

Only then did Li Jiayuan realize she was still in the hospital. She finally remembered that she hadn’t told her father about her hospitalization. So, how did he find out she was here?

”Why aren’t you speaking? Tell me quickly, why are you hospitalized?” Li Haixiao kept pressing Li Jiayuan for an answer.

Li Jiayuan panicked. Her mind was racing, and suddenly, an excuse popped into her head. She said to Li Haixiao, ”Dad, what could I possibly be hiding from you? Look, I’m hospitalized, aren’t I? That’s why I haven’t been able to visit you!”

”Oh? Then you tell your father, why are you hospitalized?” Li Haixiao, not willing to give up until he got to the bottom of things, continued to question her.

Seeing Li Haixiao’s persistence, Li Jiayuan thought to herself: Looks like Dad isn’t planning to let this go today!

”Dad, let’s not talk about it, it’s embarrassing. I was accidentally hit by a car crossing the street!”

Li Jiayuan’s excuse was indeed strange, and Li Haixiao asked again, ”You were hit by a car? Where? Did you hurt your leg?”

As Li Haixiao spoke, he reached out to touch Li Jiayuan’s leg, but she quickly withdrew her leg.

”Jiayuan, you still want to lie to me? Is it your kidney that I received?” Li Haixiao finally voiced his suspicion.

Li Jiayuan was stunned; she didn’t expect her father to find out so quickly and tried to keep it hidden: ”Dad, what are you talking about? How could it possibly be me?”

”You still won’t tell the truth, but I know everything now. How can you be so silly? Do you have any idea how important a kidney is to a person? You just gave yours to me like that; what are you going to do in the future?” Li Haixiao said, his eyes reddening with emotion. He cherished Li Jiayuan deeply, but he had never expected her to repay him, let alone with one of her most vital organs!

”Dad, don’t be like this, I truly am fine. Haven’t you seen me before? Look how energetic I’ve been, I couldn’t possibly be unwell, right?” Li Jiayuan’s remark seemed to ignite a fire inside Li Haixiao!

”You dare say that? Such a big matter, and you never told me. If your dad wasn’t clever, I might still be in the dark. Do you even consider me your father?” Li Haixiao was angered, and his sudden outburst took Li Jiayuan by surprise.

She thought: I didn’t expect dad’s attitude to change so quickly; one second he was concerned, and the next, he’s inflamed with anger?

”Dad, please calm down. I was wrong, but if I had told you beforehand, would you have agreed to me giving you my kidney?” Li Jiayuan swiftly came up with a response to block Li Haixiao’s argument.

”Li Jiayuan, do you talk to your father like that? You’re becoming bolder and bolder, even daring to speak to your father in that tone!” Li Haixiao feigned anger, curious to see what other excuses she could conjure up.

”Wah... wah... Mommy, Dad is bullying me, he even yelled at me...”

...

Li Haixiao didn’t expect Li Jiayuan to play her cards in such an unpredictable way.

Xiao Wei and Xia Jing, standing at the door, were dumbfounded. Xia Jing asked Xiao Wei, ”Why is Li Jiayuan crying? Do you know why?”

Xiao Wei shook his head in confusion and said to Xia Jing, ”Sis, I really don’t get why she’s crying. When she came out of the operating room, in so much pain she could barely sit up straight, she didn’t cry, but now...”

”Well, maybe this is a strategy she just thought of?” Xia Jing suddenly suggested.

Xiao Wei thought about it and felt that could be the case!

”Jiayuan, please stop crying, alright? Is Daddy wrong? Please don’t be mad, I was just teasing you!” Li Haixiao, seeing Li Jiayuan cry, couldn’t bear it. Seeing her tears made his heart ache; perhaps that’s why she often cried, because tears were her greatest weapon—they always made her dad extra sympathetic to her.

”So, are you going to yell at me again in the future?” Li Jiayuan looked mischievously guilt-free, almost asking for a spanking.

”No more yelling, no more, as long as you are happy, that’s all that matters!” Li Haixiao patted Li Jiayuan’s shoulder and said tenderly, which really stopped her crying.

”Daddy’s the best to me!” Li Jiayuan’s tears turned to laughter; she hugged Li Haixiao’s arm and said to him with a smiling face.

”You... you better not secretly do this again, thank you, my precious daughter, you saved me!” Li Haixiao didn’t know how else to express his feelings for his daughter who touched his very marrow with her actions!

”Got it, my nagging old dad!”

Xiao Wei and Xia Jing were truly amazed by the father-daughter duo, Li Jiayuan and Li Haixiao—arguing one minute, causing trouble the next, then crying and laughing!

”By the way, Jiayuan, when can you be discharged? I’m looking forward to your wedding with Xiao Wei!”

None of the three, Li Jiayuan, Xiao Wei, and Xia Jing, expected Li Haixiao to suddenly bring that up.

”Dad, Uncle!” Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan both exclaimed in unison!

”You guys really are in sync. Better get the wedding done soon; I want to hold a grandchild!” Li Haixiao declared before walking away, not giving Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan a chance to reply!

Standing at the door, Xia Jing, upon hearing Li Haixiao’s words, thought to herself: Xiao Wei is getting married, and Zhentian and I got engaged before them, but where does our wedding date stand?
