My Alleged Husband

Chapter 60: Chapter 58 A Loud Slap_1

The business in this bar used to be quite good, and many people trusted it, so when Li Jiayuan mentioned that there was fake alcohol being sold here, many regular customers still couldn’t believe that the owner of the bar could be such a person.

After Guo Tao slapped the waiter, there was a moment of silence, and then someone asked, ”Miss Li, what makes you so sure that the drink you had was fake?”

Many people here knew about Li Haixiao’s tactics and greatly admired his audacity.

Someone who was on fairly good terms with Li Haixiao gave him a gentle tug on the sleeve, but the man didn’t understand why his friend was pulling him, and he bellowed, ”What are you doing? Why are you pulling me?”

All eyes turned towards them at the sound, and both men felt very awkward.

”Do you know who she is?”

”Of course, she’s Li Haixiao’s daughter, isn’t she? So what? Just because she’s a rich young lady means I can’t speak?”

”Do you know that Li Haixiao is a father indulgent to his daughter? Li Jiayuan is the apple of his eye, and he won’t allow anyone to bully her. Now that you’re publicly blocking Li Jiayuan’s words, aren’t you just asking for death?”

”Do you think I’d be afraid of this little girl?”

Hearing the two men’s conversation, Li Jiayuan strolled over, casually asking, ”Would you honor me with your name, sir?”

The man thought Li Jiayuan was speaking so meekly to him that she was showing weakness, but he didn’t realize that his words would result in all business collaborations with the Li Corporation being terminated.

”My name’s Siao, I forgot to tell you, I am the General Manager of the Xiao Group, and we have quite a few collaborations with the Li Corporation! Heh.”

”So it’s General Siao. I wasn’t aware it was you, what a failure to show proper hospitality. May I ask if everything you’ve just said is true?” Li Jiayuan said to General Siao feigning surprise.

General Siao, feeling more smug by the moment as he saw Li Jiayuan’s demeanor, replied, ”Of course!”

”I see. General Siao, since you don’t believe my alcohol is fake, may I invite you to have a taste?” Li Jiayuan was laying a trap for General Siao step by step, like a hunter waiting for the prey to fall in.

Without any hesitation, General Siao walked over, picked up Li Jiayuan’s glass, and took a sip. He wished he hadn’t because now he didn’t know what to say. He thought, ’Li Jiayuan’s drink is definitely fake, but after the big talk I just made, do I have to admit I’m wrong in front of all these people? No, absolutely not!’

Everyone watched General Siao drink, and with an awkward smile, he said, ”Miss Li’s drink isn’t fake.”

No sooner had General Siao finished than Li Jiayuan laughed, ”General Siao, I never thought you’d be someone who’s afraid to admit a mistake. Since you’ve said so, surely many people will now doubt it. That’s fine, there are plenty of drinks here, and I don’t mind inviting you all to have a glass to test if it’s fake or not. Don’t worry, all the drinks are on me, Li Jiayuan. Please, everyone!”

Li Jiayuan made a welcoming gesture, and one by one, the doubters stepped forward, picked up a glass, and took a sip. After that, everyone’s expression changed, because they had confirmed Li Jiayuan’s claim, and General Siao had lied; they all looked at him with disdain.

Li Jiayuan then asked, ”I wonder if everyone agrees with General Siao’s answer?”

Though Li Jiayuan’s question seemed casual, some knew what it truly implied.

”No, this is indeed fake liquor, General Siao has lied!”

”That’s right, it is fake liquor!” everyone answered in unison.

Li Jiayuan slowly walked towards General Siao, ”General Siao, it seems like you’ve intentionally wronged me, huh?”

Feeling uneasy upon hearing what Li Jiayuan said, General Siao tried to suppress his discomfort. He glared at Li Jiayuan with hatred, thinking it would make her back down. Contrary to his expectations, Li Jiayuan not only didn’t back down, but she also became even more aggressive.

”General Siao, why are you looking at me with such enmity? If I’ve done something wrong, just tell me, and I’ll change, okay?” Li Jiayuan put on a pitiful look and spoke to General Siao, tears beginning to well up in her eyes. The people around who saw Li Jiayuan like this couldn’t help but feel sympathy, and suddenly all the accusations were directed at General Siao.

”Why are you like this? To even bully a young girl, are you even a man?”

”Exactly, how can there be such a person?”

”I really don’t know how a big company like Li Corporation could cooperate with such a person.”

...

The enormous pressure of public opinion crushed down on General Siao. He thought: I didn’t expect the daughter of the old fox Li Haixiao would be so difficult to handle, managing to put me in a spot with just a few simple words. Not only that, but I also have to bear the public’s opinion. This move is really cruel.

General Siao turned to Li Jiayuan with a smile and said, ”Really, I never expected Miss Li, as President Li Haixiao’s daughter, to be just like her father, so ruthless!”

When Li Jiayuan heard General Siao speak about her father, she smiled faintly and nonchalantly replied, ”Well, I also never expected that Li Corporation would collaborate with such a degenerate!”

Hearing himself being called a ”degenerate,” General Siao was furious. His brain, overwhelmed by anger at Li Jiayuan, stopped working properly, and he slapped her without thinking. Everyone was shocked, their eyes wide open. No one had expected that a mere employee would dare to strike the boss’s daughter. The room fell silent as death, nobody daring to speak. They just saw Li Jiayuan laughing on the side.

Li Jiayuan took a mirror out of her purse, checked her face, and saw a clear handprint. She put the mirror away, turned to General Siao, and said, ”Siao Qi, I didn’t expect you to be so bold, daring to strike even me. You can leave. I’ll have my dad terminate all collaborations with you. And I’ll also sue your company in court for illegally purchasing toxic goods. Did you think I didn’t know?”

Li Jiayuan truly hadn’t expected to be hit, especially not under such circumstances. She turned to all present and said, ”Rest assured, I won’t involve anyone else, but those who targeted me here today, sorry, I will make sure you go to hell.”

After speaking, Li Jiayuan flicked her hair and prepared to leave. She took a few steps then stopped and said to Guo Tao, ”Guo Tao, I gave you a chance because you were my classmate, but you ungratefully played dumb. So, I want to tell you something: You better shut down your bar soon, or else I’ll help you close it!”

Having said that, Li Jiayuan didn’t forget to smile at Guo Tao. Guo Tao finally understood whom he had offended. He thought: This is really over for me!

Li Jiayuan left with an air of dominance. Those who hadn’t targeted her felt relieved they hadn’t provoked this woman. Those who had targeted her weren’t as relieved, knowing that the storm awaiting them was imminent.

Back home, Li Jiayuan hurried to the study to find Li Haixiao.

The moment Li Jiayuan entered the study, Li Haixiao looked up and saw the handprint on his daughter’s face. He quickly rose from his chair and approached Li Jiayuan, ”Jiayuan, what happened? Who hit you?”

Li Haixiao’s rage was uncontrollable. He couldn’t bear to think that his darling daughter, whom he wouldn’t even dream of hitting, was struck by someone else. How could the fiercely protective Li Haixiao tolerate this?
