My Alleged Husband

Chapter 69: Chapter 67 Spare Me_1

Li Jiayuan returned to where she was staying and examined her feet, which were completely covered in blisters, shiny as flour. She hadn’t expected the coach to be so cruel, fully aware that she was wearing high heels, yet still insisted she take a walk. One lap would’ve been enough, but she actually ran five laps—that’s a thousand meters per lap. The coaches of today really are ruthless.

In the dormitory, Li Jiayuan grumbled to herself for quite a while, until her roommate couldn’t help but say, ”You can’t just blame the coach for being heartless. If anyone is to blame, it’s you. Didn’t you know this is a training camp? I’ve never seen anyone come to training camp dressed in high heels and a skirt. The fact that he didn’t kick you out on the spot already showed you mercy. And here you are complaining, with no knowledge but still managed to get in here. It seems like you’ve got connections, huh!”

Li Jiayuan was rendered speechless by her roommate’s words, thinking to herself: Elder Sister Xia really did me a disservice. How could she have not made things clear to me? If she had, would I have ended up in such a state, tormented by that devilish coach?

After blaming her coach for the overly harsh training, Li Jiayuan then blamed Xia Jing for not clarifying things to her. That’s how people are these days, always quick to blame others without considering whether it might be their own fault.

Li Jiayuan was in such pain that she used a silver needle to prick each blister on her feet, one by one. She applied medicine to her feet, shivering from the pain, but she gritted her teeth and endured it through the night. As dawn broke the next day, she heard someone whistling and shouting ”Assemble!”

Left with no choice, Li Jiayuan got up to join the assembly. She was beginning to regret coming; if she had known the training would be this tough, she would never have joined. Every time she thought along these lines, she would remember Xiao Wei, who was still striving just to be with her. Li Jiayuan knew that if she couldn’t even bear this little hardship, she had no right to be with Xiao Wei. Deep down, she understood how arduous this journey would be, but having chosen it, she was determined to finish it, even if she had to crawl to the end.

”Everyone, listen up,” Coach Yang said, fully aware that there must be those who were unsatisfied with his training methods. ”You came here to train, not to relax. If anyone feels too tired, or thinks my training is too harsh and unkind, please let me know and then get the hell out. I’m asking you now, does anyone want to quit? If so, step forward!” Through asking this, he not only identified those who were dissatisfied but also weeded out the timid and fearful.

No one spoke; they all stood erect, staring at their coach.

”Good, your silence means you have no objections, is that correct?”

”Yes!” everyone answered unanimously.

”All right, then let’s start today’s training. Everyone, about-face!”

”Oh no, not running again?”

”Don’t worry, we are not going for a walk now. After frog-jumping around the field, you’ll do five hundred push-ups, and then run another ten laps—that will complete today’s training tasks. Anyone who finishes these three tasks can rest, otherwise...” Coach Yang told his trainees.

Li Jiayuan felt like she was going to collapse—her foot injury from yesterday had not yet healed, and now she had to endure such training again. She wanted to scream out loud: ”Spare me!” but she couldn’t.

”Li Jiayuan, what are you standing around for? Everyone else has started; why aren’t you moving?” the coach asked Li Jiayuan as he walked over.

Li Jiayuan couldn’t help but say, ”Coach, my foot is injured. Can I skip training today?”

Li Jiayuan thought by acting pitiful, Coach Yang would go easy on her. But how could she know that Coach Yang had another nickname—’the Devil Coach’? Since he was already known as the Devil Coach, how could he possibly go easy on anyone? Especially knowing nothing about giving special treatment to a lady.

”Li Jiayuan, do you not take my words seriously? Have I ever said you could take a day off from training? Or do you think you are different from others, that you are special? I don’t believe out of all these people, you’re the only one who got hurt. Why should you be the one to ask for leave? Also, wasn’t it from running yesterday that you injured your foot? Did I ask you to run in high heels? I remember I even asked you at the time, and you said you were sure. Now that you’re injured, you want to take time off, which is not happening. Your injury isn’t a work-related injury; it’s your own doing, which is why it turned out this way! Let me remind you, if you really can’t stand it, you can leave, so as to not waste my time. I disdain training you and I don’t want to waste my time on a useless person like you.”

After Coach Yang finished speaking, he turned and left, not giving Li Jiayuan a chance to respond. He went to his office and called Xia Jing, ”Elder Sister Xia, what sort of person did you bring over?”

Xia Jing, hearing Coach Yang speak like that, knew that something was up with Li Jiayuan. She quickly asked, ”Coach Yang, what happened?”

Coach Yang sighed and told Xia Jing, ”Elder Sister Xia, I’ve never seen anyone so foolish. She showed up in a dress and high heels. Even if she dressed like that, I told her to change, but she only changed her clothes. When I asked if she was sure about wearing the high heels, she actually answered ’sure’! Isn’t that problematic?”

Hearing this, Xia Jing couldn’t help but laugh. She asked, ”So how did you train her?”

”Just like usual, I had her run five laps in high heels. Today, when she came to ask for leave during training, I gave her a talking-to. She’s still standing on the field right now!”

”Alright then, continue with the training and call me if anything comes up!”

After both had finished their calls, Li Jiayuan was still standing on the field, truly unable to run anymore. She had never endured such hardship, not even having run laps before, let alone frog jumps. But now, to be with Xiao Wei, she had actually run five laps in high heels—that’s a full five kilometers.

”Xiao Wei, take care of yourself, and wait for me. I will definitely complete the training, and then we can be together!” Looking up at the endless sky, Li Jiayuan muttered to herself, ”Come on, Li Jiayuan, you can do it. You mustn’t lose.”

Li Jiayuan then squatted down, took off her shoes, and began her own training.

She hopped along with difficulty, every jump a tremendous effort, but she kept gritting her teeth and persevering. Blood slowly began to seep from her feet. With each jump, Li Jiayuan left behind a bloody footprint. Watching from above, Coach Yang glanced at the footprints behind Li Jiayuan and let out a sigh, ”It’s tough on this girl. Despite being a rich young lady, for the sake of Xiao Wei, she’s willing to go to such lengths. That’s truly rare. Xiao Wei, you’re lucky to have such a silly girl love you. I’m happy for you. Maybe by the time you return, she’ll have already passed the training.”

Xia Jing had already informed Coach Yang about the real reason Li Jiayuan joined the mercenaries. They all felt it was necessary to test her, to see how far Li Jiayuan would go for Xiao Wei. Now it seemed, Li Jiayuan truly loved Xiao Wei.

”Keep going, Li Jiayuan, you can’t give up. You need to push through!” Li Jiayuan was completely exhausted, but she continued to cheer herself on. She couldn’t give up!
