Chapter 541: Chapter 40: Subduing the Red Fox

Chen Wen didn’t thrust his long spear, precisely because this was a special animal.

Its character is cunning.

This character... Chen Wen doesn’t feel very good about it.

Moreover, this red fox’s behavior is indeed cunning.

Its body is even smaller than that of the Wolf Mink, from any angle, this guy is no match for the Wolf Mink.

But it used jagged rocks to continuously maneuver around the Wolf Mink, vaguely holding a position of equals.

It even used the rocks to block the Wolf Mink’s view and attack.

A very intelligent animal.

If tamed, it might play a significant role, but is this guy easy to tame?

Looking at its cunning nature, Chen Wen hesitated.

But quickly, he decided to help the Wolf Mink subdue this red fox first.

He shouted fiercely, attracting the attention of both animals.

While the red fox was looking at him, Chen Wen stared into its eyes, releasing a murderous aura from all over his body.

At the same time, he issued [Intimidation].

The red fox, being watched by Chen Wen, shuddered, and fear emanated from its heart.

Its four legs weakened, instinctively collapsing to the ground.

Seizing this perfect opportunity, Chen Wen pressed down with his hand, pinning the red fox to the ground, controlling it.

At this moment, the red fox still wanted to struggle.

But Chen Wen exerted a slight force, lifting the red fox up.

The Wolf Mink cheered from the side.

Clearly, this guy harbors such hostility towards the red fox, probably because it was taken advantage of by the red fox in yesterday’s conflict.

This cunning red fox is very intelligent.

Realizing Chen Wen’s unstoppable strength, it emitted a whimpering sound.

As if pleading for mercy.

Seeing the red fox’s appearance, Chen Wen had a thought.

He said, ”Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you.”

[Communication] triggered, a glint of human-like light flashed in the red fox’s eyes.

It immediately said, ”Let me go, let me go, I’ll do anything!”

This is a female red fox, about twenty or thirty years old in human age.

Listening to the voice, Chen Wen estimated the information of this red fox.

But just as he was about to release his hand and let the red fox go.

This red fox, sensing a weakening in Chen Wen’s strength, immediately started to struggle.

”Hey, don’t struggle, the more you struggle, the less I’ll let you go!”

Chen Wen said, tightening his grip.

This time, the red fox behaved.

It whimpered, pleading with Chen Wen, but Chen Wen did not release his grip again.

The red fox’s previous actions let him see the true nature of this creature.

Therefore, Chen Wen didn’t bother to talk much with the red fox but turned to the Wolf Mink and said, ”You go back first, watch over the camp’s food.”

The Wolf Mink nodded, glaring viciously at the red fox before leaving: ”You’re just a sly little thing! If it came down to pure strength, I could take on ten of you!”

Although Chen Wen did not enable communication between them, the Wolf Mink’s threat was perceptible to the red fox.

It immediately whimpered, its body trembling continuously.

But Chen Wen was well aware, this creature was putting on an act.

Compared to previous special animals, this red fox really opened Chen Wen’s eyes.

Not only did it reveal its strategic side upon awakening its intelligence but also gained sympathy by feigning fear.

Is it truly a demonic fox?

After watching the Wolf Mink leave, Chen Wen slowly drew his hunting knife.

He didn’t say anything, but dangerous and severe lights flickered in his eyes.

Sensing Chen Wen’s killing intent, the red fox finally calmed down.

It stopped trembling and stopped pleading as well.

It turned into a calm look, seemingly playing dead.

This creature, truly interesting!

Chen Wen grinned slightly.

Now he was increasingly interested in taming this red fox.

Holding the red fox by its four legs, he carried it upside down around the perimeter of the shelter.

The red fox seemed to have discovered something.

It exclaimed in surprise, ”I seem to have been here before! Is this your territory? I swear, I will never invade your territory again, please let me go.”

Silently throughout the journey, Chen Wen finally spoke.

He brought the red fox in front of the black bear’s head, letting it see the white skull clearly.

”Do you know what this is?”

Chen Wen asked.

The red fox was stunned for a moment, unable to recognize it.

Luckily it couldn’t recognize it, for if it could, it would truly be a demon.

Murmuring internally, Chen Wen brought the red fox in front of the black bear skin.

This time, the red fox recognized it.

In shock, it exclaimed: ”This is... those big black fellows?! You killed it?!”

Chen Wen nodded.

The red fox was even more shocked and simultaneously regretful.

How did it misjudge and offend a new overlord capable of killing those big black creatures?

While regretting, the red fox’s mind was racing.

Thinking of how to escape from this new overlord’s clutches.

But after thinking for a long time, it was somewhat hopeless.

There’s no escaping!

”What are you... intending to do? My meat isn’t tasty, if you need food, I can help you hunt.”

The red fox tried to find a way to survive.

In the shelter, after searching for a while, Chen Wen finally took out a wire from the black box.

This was a prop provided by the program to charge the drone.

After slightly wrapping the wire to tie the red fox’s four legs,

Chen Wen placed it on the ground.

The Wolf Mink meanwhile also came over, panting heavily, saying: ”I went around in a big circle, our food is very safe.”

At this point, Chen Wen spent twenty inheritance points to unlock the communication ability between the two animals.

After unlocking the communication ability.

Chen Wen calmly told the Wolf Mink, ”Well done, and now you can understand what this guy is saying, have a chat with it, but don’t touch it.”

After speaking, Chen Wen picked up his axe and started busying himself with other tasks.

The Wolf Mink, however, looked at the red fox lying on its back, full of interest.

It provocatively stated, ”Hey! Cunning creature! Can you still run now? Let me see you try to run another time!”

After unlocking communication, the red fox was even more startled.

It didn’t bother with the Wolf Mink but instead reflected on the current situation.

Today’s experiences surpassed all its encounters in the past few years.

It felt it needed to take in and digest all the information it had received.

After being ignored by the red fox, the Wolf Mink didn’t bother with it either, but happily snuck into the new shelter that Chen Wen just built, planning to take a nap.

...

At night.

Chen Wen took out some smoked bear meat, sitting by the campfire, eating bear meat.

The Wolf Mink lay beside Chen Wen, gnawing on the bear ribs Chen Wen gave it.

It wasn’t hungry, but seeing Chen Wen eating, felt the need to chew on something.

Thus, Chen Wen came up with an idea.

Letting the Wolf Mink gnaw on the bear bones, satisfying its craving while not wasting food.

While eating, the aroma of the meat made the red fox constantly twitch its nose.

It was starving for several days.

It originally came to Chen Wen’s camp just for a bite to eat.

After Chen Wen finished eating.

He found some meat strips and slowly walked over to the red fox.

”I’ve figured it out.”

Hearing Chen Wen’s approaching footsteps, the red fox immediately twisted its body and looked over: ”I feel you’re really powerful, I’ve decided to follow you!”

”As long as there’s something I can help with, I will help you, but I absolutely won’t do anything that seems like sure death, how does that sound?”

Chen Wen carefully looked at the red fox, analyzing the reliability of its words.

After a moment, Chen Wen nodded slightly.

He placed some smoked meat strips in front of the red fox, then untied the wire binding the red fox.

”You can eat first, we’ll talk after you finish.”

The red fox shook its body and struggled to get up.

Being tied up for a few hours made its body a bit intolerant.

But smelling the aroma of meat, its previous grievances about being tied up vanished completely.
