Chapter 537: Chapter 36: Hurry Up and Build the Shelter

This time, extracting the Wolverine entry was decent, not bad.

It’s equivalent to a woodland parkour entry.

Plus, with Chen Wen having trained with Qu Yong in obstacle cross-country, combining the two, Chen Wen’s agility in the forest is almost on par with some animals.

After selecting the entry, Chen Wen carried the Wolverine, bringing King Kong back to the camp.

King Kong continued to stand guard at night, while Chen Wen threw the Wolverine aside.

He began to rest.

By the next day, the sixth day of survival.

With Chen Wen constantly smoking meat, much of the bear meat was almost completely smoked.

After placing the last batch of smoked meat into the smoking chamber, Chen Wen picked up the work neglected over the past few days.

Net weaving and shelter construction.

As most of the blueberries had already been picked at the traps, he decided to check the area every two days.

Therefore, the entire day’s time would be spent by Chen Wen on constructing the shelter and weaving nets.

Using the Pomodoro Technique, a well-fed Chen Wen worked quickly.

By noon, the shelter had already taken shape.

Considering the shortage of stones.

Chen Wen went out to bring back some more stones, and after an afternoon, he built the shelter’s wall up to a height of about one meter.

Adding over a meter underground, the shelter was two meters tall.

It was quite spacious too.

While building the wall, Chen Wen also left space for a fireplace and a big door.

Taking advantage of the time before nightfall, Chen Wen made some basic repairs to the big door.

Additionally, he started work on constructing the shelter’s roof during this time.

...

Seeing Chen Wen getting on track, director Greg no longer paid attention here.

Instead, he flipped through the survival journal to see how the others were progressing.

Number one, Adam.

The shelter had already taken shape; he built a wooden shelter.

Relying on a large rock, using it as a wall for building.

The surrounding area was constructed with wood, with mortise and tenon joints cut into the wood for assembly.

Finally, the top was sealed with waterproof fabric, and the surroundings were filled with moss and soil.

In terms of food, Adam’s traps performed miracles.

Caught plenty of rabbits, squirrels, mice, grouse, and porcupines.

Overall, he was not starving, but his weight was decreasing.

After all, there were no large prey or fat-rich prey.

Number two, Phil.

This guy’s progress on the shelter is average, currently less than halfway done.

But his traps are decent.

Caught plenty of chickens.

That’s right, some species of Galliformes.

Mainly blue grouse and Canadian grouse, and also the rarer dusky grouse.

Additionally caught chukar partridges and two rock partridges.

Due to the chicken-like prey he hunted, the crew started calling Phil the Chicken Brother.

Though the name Chicken Brother is amusing, Phil’s food quality is noticeably better than Adam’s.

Particularly, the various chickens contain a lot of fat.

This also causes Phil to appear even heavier than before joining the survival challenge.

Number three, Vic.

After his camp was looted by a Wolverine.

He took the lesson to heart and set his shelter into a duplex structure like Chen Wen’s.

He created a small area for food storage in the shelter.

Additionally, his heavy bow was particularly outstanding.

In the afternoon, Vic used the heavy bow to shoot down a deer with one arrow.

Though it was a female, not very large.

But it weighed about 120 kilograms, making it the second-largest prey after Chen Wen’s black bear.

Number four, Gaston.

The shelter has almost no significant progress, just the frame set up.

But this guy’s food variety is rich!

Especially fish!

After placing nets near the estuary, Gaston already caught five big fish, each over 40 centimeters long.

Among them, there was a large, fat whitefish.

Making the crew rather envious.

You know, most of these crew members are residents near Great Slave Lake.

Even they seldom catch such large whitefish in the lake.

”This guy’s luck is unbelievable!”

This was everyone’s evaluation of Gaston.

Number five, Roland.

Roland’s initial phase was quite miserable.

He didn’t have much to eat, but his energy consumption was immense.

After all, like Chen Wen, he chose a stone shelter.

But Roland found a good depression, saving him a lot of effort.

Number six, Shijing Heren.

Doing quite poorly, let’s skip.

Greg shook his head as he looked at Shijing Heren’s log.

This guy is purely making up the numbers.

The only notable achievement is that he finished weaving a thorn net and caught a 30 cm pike this afternoon.

Number seven, Vini.

With comprehensive abilities, his progress was similar to Adam’s.

But his food supply is slightly better than Adam’s.

Using a bow and arrow, he hunted quite some prey.

Number eight, Hua Yun.

Still hunting, no shelter yet, but her hunted prey is truly abundant.

Various Galliformes and small animals, even five or six Wolverines were hunted.

In addition, Hua Yun’s largest prey was a female moose weighing around 180 kilograms.

She tracked it for two days and finally took it down this morning.

No need to elaborate on number nine, Chen Wen.

Got off to the smoothest start, slower shelter construction speed, but the richest food.

Even tamed a Wolverine that keeps watch at night.

Undefeated.

Number ten, Fred.

His current performance is average, but Greg is looking forward to his next actions.

Because this morning, Fred discovered a mature male black bear.

He’s intensely interested in the mature male black bear.

And in the afternoon, he set up a trap near the black bear.

To encircle and slow down the male black bear.

Fred then armed himself, intending to hunt this black bear.

Skillful people are bold!

This season, there are already two contestants daring to provoke a black bear proactively.

Far more daring than those in previous seasons who panicked at the sight of a black bear.

However, this also caused Greg some trouble.

After closing the survival journal.

Greg pondered whether to visit the local government to negotiate more hunting quotas.

Moreover, preparations were needed for Chen Wen’s beast taming.

After all, after survival, he intends to take the tamed beast away.

Just as Pal, who has close ties with the government, is here too.

Using his connections might make things easier.

Greg planned to return to his room.

He intended to go out tomorrow, and visit the government with Pal.

...

Chen Wen lay in the shelter resting, also planning for tomorrow.

Currently, he needed to handle some prey.

The Arctic hare and Arctic ground squirrel he brought back before were forgotten.

Not to mention the Wolverine hunted last night, none were dealt with.

Focused on building today, neglecting these small animals.

Must handle them tomorrow! Otherwise, they’d start to smell!
