Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 510: Chapter 9: Heading to the Survival Location

Official survival countdown: one hour.

Chen Wen checked his supplies and the clothes he was carrying one last time.

”No omissions, perfect.”

Beside him, Jiang Chang fulfilled his duties as an assistant, matching Chen Wen’s props, clothes, and supplies one to one with the checklist.

Chen Wen also verified everything, and after confirming there were no mistakes, he gathered all the supplies.

”If all goes well, let’s meet again in a hundred days.”

Chen Wen smiled at the two assistants: ”Take care of yourself, and eat well.”

Lin Jiawei hummed and said, ”I’ll keep an eye on things outside for you.”

Jiang Chang followed up, ”Be careful! Don’t push yourself too hard! Stay steady!”

”Got it.”

Chen Wen gave a thumbs-up and turned to leave.

...

Arriving at the assembly point.

Ten contestants arrived one after another, lining up in two rows.

According to the program group’s division, five people in a team, the contestants would be split into two teams, taking helicopters to the survival location.

Chen Wen, Hua Yun, and Fred were neighbors, and the three of them got along well. After coming together, they started chatting.

Fred, with the face of a beast but the heart of a human, couldn’t help but say as he looked at Chen Wen’s props, ”Are you sure it’s fine not to bring a fire starter? Once we’re on the helicopter, we can’t change anything.”

Hua Yun heard this and also glanced at Chen Wen, showing concern.

”Don’t worry.”

Chen Wen gave a thumbs-up, ”My gear is fine.”

Beside him, Vini calmly looked at Chen Wen without saying a word.

It was Shijing Heren who came over, asking, ”Mr. Chen Wen, your choice of props is quite unique.”

”It has to be.”

Chen Wen laughed heartily, ”Each of us three is more unique than the last!”

Shijing Heren glanced at the three of them and nodded slightly.

One was a hunter, and the other two had a high proportion of tools, all of them were unconventional choices.

Shijing Heren nodded at Chen Wen, blessing him, ”Mr. Chen Wen, wish you great martial power and prosperity!”

”Same to you, same to you.”

Chen Wen nodded with a smile.

At this time, the staff on the helicopter began to notify everyone to board, and they boarded in an orderly manner according to their numbers.

After everyone boarded, the helicopter took off, carrying them towards the shore of the Great Slave Lake.

...

The helicopter chugged along as the scenery on the ground rushed backward like a stream of light.

Looking at the increasingly desolate shore of the Great Slave Lake, Chen Wen still felt a bit nervous inside.

After all, this was a hundred-day survival challenge he had never attempted before.

The time was extremely long, and the environment was extremely harsh.

It was a severe test of both body and mind.

”Number Six, you can get ready.”

With the staff’s reminder, contestant number six, Shijing Heren, with his gear on his back, came near the helicopter cabin door.

The helicopter hovered steadily.

Staff opened the cabin door, and the fierce wind mixed with fine raindrops poured into the cabin.

Everyone could not help but shiver, including Chen Wen.

Shijing Heren took a deep breath, looking at the ground about a meter away, tossed his gear down.

Then he looked back at everyone and said, ”Good luck everyone, I’m going first!”

With that, Shijing Heren leaped from the helicopter and entered the wilderness.

...

After Shijing Heren left, the atmosphere in the cabin suddenly became tense.

Number seven, Vini, nervously rubbed his pants.

Seeing his appearance, Chen Wen couldn’t help but take a few deep breaths to calm his racing heart.

The helicopter flew about ten kilometers further.

The staff gestured for Vini to exit the helicopter.

He nodded slightly at everyone and jumped down without a word.

Now it was Hua Yun’s turn to be nervous.

She gripped her bow and arrow tightly, her knuckles turning white from the excessive force.

”Don’t panic.”

Chen Wen noticed Hua Yun’s unusual behavior and reminded, ”Believe in yourself, confidence is the key.”

Hua Yun took a deep breath, then slowly exhaled, ”Don’t worry.”

”If my strategy works this time, I’ll treat you to a meal!”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen instinctively asked, ”What if it fails?”

Hua Yun rolled her eyes, her tension dissipating, ”Even if it fails, I’ll treat you to a meal. Don’t worry, I’m not the type to blame others for my failures.”

This little exchange indeed improved Hua Yun’s mindset quite a bit.

With the staff’s cue, Hua Yun approached the cabin front.

She turned to look at Chen Wen and said, ”If I don’t win this time, I hope you do.”

With that, Hua Yun swiftly jumped down.

...

Pressure now fell on Chen Wen.

But he wasn’t too nervous; he chatted cheerfully with Fred.

The staff, seeing this, instinctively moved closer.

They wanted to hear what this promising young survivor, highly regarded by the director, had to say to ease his tension.

But they were disappointed.

Because Chen Wen was talking about drinking.

”After this ends, come to Hua Country, I’ll treat you to drinks. A brother of mine owns a brewery; their homemade rice wine is sweet and doesn’t make you drunk.”

Hearing the topic of alcohol, Fred was quite interested, ”Okay, I will definitely come. But I heard Hua Country has a strong liquor, called ’er-kou-tou’? Do you know it?”

Fred asked in broken Chinese.

Chen Wen laughed heartily, ”It’s called ’er-guo-tou,’ when you come to Hua Country, I’ll treat you!”

”It’s a deal!”

The two high-fived, agreeing to have drinks after the event.

At this time, the staff reminded Chen Wen that it was his turn.

Coming to the edge of the cabin, Chen Wen looked at the ground less than a meter below and swiftly hopped down.

Once he bent over and walked out of the helicopter’s rotors, the cabin door closed.

Chug chug chug...

As the helicopter flew further and further away, the sound of the rotating blades faded.

Chen Wen took a deep breath, clearing his mind of distractions.

Accustomed to being ”abandoned,” he rather got used to this feeling.

The system stirred, allowing him to start survival mode.

But Chen Wen wasn’t in a rush to choose a keyword; he turned around, following the program’s signs, searching for the standard set tools that were dropped off earlier.

Soon, in an open forest clearing,

Chen Wen saw two dark boxes.

These were the tools prepared by the program.

With his gear and clothes properly arranged, Chen Wen walked towards the props.

...

On the program’s side.

As the contestants landed one after another, all the contestants’ work assistants became busy.

They followed the program’s instructions and entered the monitoring room.

There were still more than a dozen computers, with staff working in shifts, monitoring the contestants’ conditions around the clock.

But the staff only monitors, not for alarms.

If there is danger, contestants need to judge for themselves whether to call for help.

Lin Jiawei stood behind Chen Wen’s monitor, greeting the staff responsible for Chen Wen.

The other person nodded back amicably.

Beside him, Hua Yun’s assistant Luo Yao also came over.

On the other side, a brawny man seemingly cast from the same mold as Fred came over.

This was Fred’s cousin and also his work assistant.

He nodded at Lin Jiawei, handing over a bottle of drink at the same time.

Looking at the number on the bottle representing the alcohol content,

Lin Jiawei politely declined the invitation.

One couldn’t blame others for stereotypes; these guys really like to drink!

He thought to himself.

At this moment, seeing Chen Wen find the boxes, Lin Jiawei shook his head, focusing back on Chen Wen’s situation.

But to his surprise, just upon landing, Chen Wen’s expression changed.

And it was not a good change.

What happened?
