Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 502: Chapter 1: Meeting Hua Yun

Seeing Hua Yun, both of them were surprised by each other’s changes.

”Come on in, this is Miss Luo and Mr. Qi.”

Hua Yun said, introducing her two assistants to Chen Wen.

Chen Wen nodded with a smile; he still had some impression of the two of them.

Luo Yao, Hua Yun’s work assistant, very career-oriented.

Qi Yang was a life assistant, a very amiable uncle.

After a simple exchange of pleasantries, Chen Wen and Hua Yun went to the living room for a detailed conversation.

”You’ve really accomplished quite a bit these past few months; even in such a remote place, I’ve heard quite a lot.”

Hua Yun looked at Chen Wen with emotion, ”It feels like your reputation now is even greater than mine.”

Chen Wen waved his hand repeatedly, ”Let’s not talk about that; I’d rather not have that kind of fame.”

Alright.

Hua Yun chuckled and said, ”Okay, you’re here for the survival adaptation, right?”

”That’s right.”

Chen Wen nodded, ”Additionally, I’m looking for some locals, preferably those with enough outdoor experience and who can identify wild foods and animals.”

Hua Yun snapped her fingers, ”Perfect timing, three wishes granted at once.”

”There is an outdoor club in the town called ’Snowfield’. They offer hunting guide services, and it is full of local veteran hunters who excel at hunting and identifying wild vegetables and wildlife.”

”They perfectly match your needs, but their fees are quite high. If your funds aren’t ample, I can lend you some.”

Chen Wen shook his head, ”No worries, I have a bit of money recently, it should be enough.”

Hua Yun nodded, not saying much more.

With her relationship with Chen Wen, if Chen Wen really needed money, he would definitely ask.

After discussing business, both of them relaxed a bit and chatted about other matters.

They talked about the association’s affairs.

Hua Yun said, ”As expected, you and Feng Zhong have had a falling out.”

Chen Wen grinned, ”Although it’s inappropriate to speak ill behind someone’s back, his competitive spirit is truly strong, and his tolerance is indeed small; compared to Mr. Qu, he’s far behind.”

This made Hua Yun laugh, ”Looks like your disagreements with him weren’t just on the show.”

”Yeah, I really can’t understand why this victory or defeat is so important to him?”

Chen Wen said helplessly.

At this point, Hua Yun nodded, ”It’s indeed very important. To be precise, since the Yukon, everyone’s participation record has become very important to us.”

Playing the straight-man, Chen Wen cooperatively asked, ”Why is that?”

”You should have heard about the Eight Extremes Challenge, right?”

Hua Yun brought up the most discussed topic in the association recently.

Chen Wen nodded.

Hua Yun then said, ”The Eight Extremes Challenge involves survival associations from various countries sending participants, among whom there is one seed player.”

”This seed player enjoys great advantages in the competition, which is that after the first elimination, they can choose to participate again.”

”Each Eight Extremes Challenge lasts for three years; within these three years, each challenge is repeated three times. Normally, if one fails a challenge, they cannot participate again until the next Eight Extremes Challenge or by choosing other projects, but the seed player can participate in the same project twice, a significant advantage.”

Hearing the concept of a seed player, Chen Wen rubbed his chin and said, ”So, participation records are related to confirming seed players?”

”Yes.”

Hua Yun nodded, ”Furthermore, for our association, the identity of the seed player is linked to the position of president. Traditionally, only those who have been seed players are eligible to run for president.”

Chen Wen scratched his head at these words.

Looks like the victory in Caprivi is indeed quite important.

At this moment, Hua Yun glanced at Chen Wen, ”For this wilderness living alone, we actually count as competitors.”

”Besides competition in the event, there’s also competition for the seed player.”

Upon hearing this, Chen Wen decisively waved his hand, ”No, I don’t compete for these things, because I don’t want to be a president.”

This made Hua Yun laugh.

If anyone else said this, she might think they were being hypocritical.

But coming from Chen Wen’s mouth, he genuinely dislikes it.

”Alright, being president isn’t that easy, either. Generally, once you become president, your opportunities to participate in survival diminish greatly.”

Hua Yun mused with a complex look.

”Let’s not talk about that anymore.”

Chen Wen said, ”The immediate focus on survival should be the priority.”

That’s logical.

Hua Yun nodded, ”When do you plan to start survival adaptation?”

”Next week.”

Chen Wen already had a plan, ”I’ll first read the material and also make reservations at the club for two or three veteran hunters. Then I’ll start survival adaptation next week, spending half a month in the wilderness crawling and stumbling.”

”Alright, I have some information from the association about Great Slave Lake, I’ll send it to you later. If you need anything else, feel free to contact me.”

Hua Yun nodded.

After finishing their business discussion, Chen Wen didn’t stay long.

He took his leave and returned to his room.

Jiang Chang and Lin Jiawei returned an hour later after shopping.

After distributing the purchased supplies, Chen Wen sat on the bed reviewing the association materials Hua Yun had sent.

The association’s records on Great Slave Lake weren’t very detailed.

After a quick look, Chen Wen felt it was quite similar to the Yukon.

Especially in terms of animals, what exists in Yukon exists here; what’s absent there is likely absent here too.

There’s some difference in terrain.

The Yukon side is mostly rivers, while this area is centered around lakeshores.

This results in a richer diversity of fish in the lake.

Lake trout, pike, whitefish...

The fishing conditions here are quite good.

Based on the association’s records, Chen Wen roughly formulated relevant plans and selected specific entries.

This time, the selection of entries will focus on survival and endurance.

Since there aren’t any PvP elements, entries for confrontation are not needed extensively.

Moreover, the area’s animal resources are still quite rich, so one could try limited-self functionality.

In the end, Chen Wen tentatively confirmed his choice of entries.

The remaining adjustments will be made after selecting survival locations and tools.

By evening.

Chen Wen personally took to the kitchen and used Canadian ingredients to prepare a fairly authentic Hua Country meal.

Stir-fried meat with chili, cabbage and pork stew with vermicelli, scrambled eggs with tomatoes, potato stew with beef, and a seaweed and egg drop soup.

Four simple dishes and a soup, yet they made Lin Jiawei and Jiang Chang very happy.

Especially Lin Jiawei.

He sadly found that Jiang Chang couldn’t cook, not even chop vegetables.

And he himself could only manage simple dishes like stir-fried shredded potatoes.

Given the current conditions weren’t great, Lin Jiawei felt his meals weren’t even as good as at Caprivi.

This made him eat an extra two servings.

During the meal, Chen Wen explained his plan.

Lin Jiawei asked Chen Wen if he needed help to make the club reservations.

But Chen Wen declined.

He planned to visit the club himself, to assess the skills of the local guides on-site.

At night, the program materials arrived.

Chen Wen meticulously reviewed the materials and highlighted key points.

The countdown to survival had begun.
