Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 534: Chapter 33: Taming the Wolf Mink

”Follow me, eat meat, but you have to do what I ask. However, I won’t ask you to do anything dangerous, okay?”

Chen Wen’s tone was kind, as if Nightingale had come back to life.

The Wolf Mink nodded repeatedly, ”Sure! As long as you feed me, I’ll listen to you! I don’t mind even if it’s dangerous, I’m not scared!”

Goodness!

Chen Wen clicked his tongue.

He reached out his hand, gesturing for the Wolf Mink to come closer.

As the Wolf Mink walked up to Chen Wen, he gently placed his palm on the Wolf Mink’s body.

This Wolf Mink instantly became Chen Wen’s most loyal friend.

Gluttony really is a good trait!

Chen Wen sighed once more.

...

”That’s it?”

Seeing the close bond between Chen Wen and the Wolf Mink on the screen, Monitor No. 3 showed a look of disbelief.

Lin Jiawei was also a bit surprised.

Even though he’d seen plenty of footage of Chen Wen taming animals, this was the first time he’d seen one tamed so quickly.

It seems Chen Wen’s taming skills have improved again.

Meanwhile, director Greg exchanged glances with Pal.

”Have you ever heard of a taming method like this...?”

Greg asked Pal.

Pal shook his head, ”Never heard of it. It seems like he just fed it a few chunks of meat, and the Wolf Mink was tamed.”

Even a professional beast tamer wouldn’t be this fast, right?

At the very least, they would let the Wolf Mink get familiar with the scent before gradually taming it.

”He truly is... a remarkable person!”

Pal said, ”My friend, your eye for talent is as sharp as ever!”

...

Back with Chen Wen.

After taming the Wolf Mink, Chen Wen named it—King Kong Wolf.

Since the prototype of the Wolverine is the Wolf Mink, it would seem incomplete not to name it this.

Moreover, this Wolf Mink is male, with a voice like a gruff uncle; naming it King Kong Wolf suits it well.

After naming it, Chen Wen began assigning tasks to the Wolf Mink.

”It’s simple.”

Chen Wen pointed to the meat chunks and elevated food, saying, ”If anything tries to steal our food, if you can take it on, go right ahead and drive them away or kill them outright. If not, call me, and I’ll assist you.”

Upon hearing this, the Wolf Mink nodded repeatedly.

Guarding food—well, even without Chen Wen’s instructions, it would do it anyway.

However, Chen Wen noticed the Wolf Mink’s eyes still hovering over the bear meat and said, ”If you want some meat, you can just ask me, but don’t ever pee on the meat!”

To preserve food from being stolen by other animals,

they will spray their urine on it. That pungent smell, even if other animals find the food, they won’t take it away.

Hearing Chen Wen’s reminder, the Wolf Mink wore a disappointed expression, realizing it couldn’t do that.

This unsettled Chen Wen a lot.

If he hadn’t mentioned it, this little guy might have actually peed on it.

After reminding once more, Chen Wen began to rest.

The nocturnal Wolf Mink climbed the tree where Chen Wen stored food, keeping a watchful eye on it to prevent theft by other animals.

However, just before sleep, Chen Wen opened the system and chose a keyword provided by the Wolf Mink.

[You’ve gained recognition from a friend, please extract the keyword your friend has prepared for you]

[Your friend—the Wolf Mink, has prepared a gift for you]

[Extracting... Extraction complete!]

[Please select one from the following three keywords]

[Fearless (Gold): You become braver and bolder, animals you target will be intimidated by your aura, making it easier for them to make mistakes]

[Note: In this forest, I can snatch food from the mouths of the biggest bears! That’s called presence! —Wolf Mink]

[Ravenous Appetite (Gold): Your appetite is immensely voracious, your desire for food increases, when your appetite is satisfied, your comprehensive survival ability significantly improves; if you’re somewhat hungry, your comprehensive survival ability moderately improves; when you’re hungry, you focus entirely on acquiring food, your survival ability slightly improves, and your ability to acquire food greatly improves]

[Note: As long as I don’t go hungry, anywhere feels like home! —Wolf Mink]

[King Kong Wolf (Gold): Greatly enhance the ability to recover from external injuries, become more resilient in battle, injuries won’t cause fear or hesitation for you, more prone to hunger during wound recovery]

[Note: Although I don’t know who King Kong Wolf is, he probably isn’t stronger than me! —Wolf Mink]

Three golds!

Chen Wen looked at these three golden keywords, feeling quite satisfied.

But the [Ravenous Appetite] provided by this Wolf Mink was encountered with a previous Wolf Mink.

Therefore, there’s no need to choose this keyword.

Duplicate keywords don’t upgrade by accumulating three, nor can they return survival points.

Between [Fearless] and [King Kong Wolf], Chen Wen chose [King Kong Wolf].

Enhancing recovery ability feels somewhat similar to [Tenacious Life] obtained from bananas before.

But that was a downgraded version of Deadpool’s recovery ability, this must be a downgraded version of Wolverine’s recovery ability.

I can say I’ve collected two characters from the same universe together.

However, currently, Chen Wen doesn’t need many injury recovery keywords.

After continued survival, he’s pursuing no-injury survival.

Choosing this time, it’s for insurance purposes.

And since there aren’t many recovery ability keywords, if I can choose one, I’ll choose one.

Having chosen the keyword, Chen Wen went to sleep, satisfied.

...

Chen Wen using the Wolf Mink’s method to prevent food theft astonished everyone who knew about it.

Especially that segment where he just fed the Wolf Mink meat and tamed it.

It made people wonder if Chen Wen had slipped something into the meat.

But regardless of the rumors, the fact stands that Chen Wen tamed the Wolf Mink.

And his food became safer thanks to the Wolf Mink’s presence.

As time reached deep night.

Animals were drawn by the scent of meat and blood.

They ranged from large ones like coyotes and lynxes to small ones like ravens, wild dogs, and feral cats.

But without exception, these prying animals were frightened off by the fierce Wolf Mink.

Especially the coyote attack.

Chen Wen was awakened by the coyote’s howling, checking the situation.

The thieving coyote ventured near the camp, only to be ambushed by a flying pounce from the tree-bound Wolf Mink.

If the coyote hadn’t struggled quickly, and fled without hesitation, the Wolf Mink could have likely taken it down.

After this, Chen Wen fully trusted the Wolf Mink.

This little guy, as long as it’s well-fed, its loyalty is unquestionable.

In the late night, Chen Wen got up to take out the first batch of smoked meat.

Then he put the prepared second batch of bear meat strips into the smoker.

The smoked meat Chen Wen tasted was average in flavor.

But it was quite dry, making it safe to store.

As time passed and the east turned pale, Chen Wen welcomed the fifth day of survival.
