Wilderness Survival with Druid System

Chapter 509: Chapter 8: Perspectives on Hunting Expeditions

Listening to Chen Wen’s analysis, the two assistants beside him also understood.

Hua Yun is lacking confidence now.

The last failure had too much impact on her, so now she doesn’t have enough confidence to go hunting.

That’s why she’s seeking Chen Wen’s help.

But constantly analyzing flaws, doesn’t that hit Hua Yun harder?

Is this really okay?

While the two assistants were puzzled

Chen Wen changed his tone and said, ”But actually, you can completely play to your strengths and avoid weaknesses. I saw the equipment you brought; it’s not heavy, so you can totally use your high mobility to hunt while looking for suitable campsites.”

”After finding a campsite, store part of your equipment and note the location, reducing your load. Continue hunting to maintain mobility.”

”The prey you hunt in between, you can try bleeding them and hanging them on trees. This way, you maintain mobility and leave yourself markers, killing two birds with one stone.”

”When you feel you have enough prey, follow your markings back to the camp, and with the substantial reserves from the early stage, immediately build a shelter. This can give you a huge advantage.”

”This method is very risky, but since you’re hunting, what risk are you afraid of? If you succeed, you win big; if you fail, you go home to sleep. That’s the true essence of hunting!”

Hearing Chen Wen’s suggestion, Lin Jiawei and Jiang Chang both shivered.

Even if they are not professionals, they can now clearly see how risky Chen Wen’s method is.

First, storing equipment in a completely unfamiliar place; if you can’t find it, you’re going home.

Second, continuously hunting, and not carrying the prey, just leaving them on the trees as markers.

If some animal smells the scent and comes to steal it,

then it’s like working for nothing, and going home is your fate too.

Third, bringing back a large amount of prey and storing it in the campsite.

If poorly handled, these prey are very obvious sources of smell.

Black bears fattening up for hibernation, thieving wolf minks, and omnipresent coyotes and lynxes...

If those things come, going home is considered lucky.

Taking an unusual path doesn’t mean this!

But Hua Yun actually listened.

She thought for a long time before saying, ”It is indeed very, very risky. If any step has a problem, it will collapse, if...”

”No if.”

Chen Wen said seriously, ”Now is the time to take an unconventional path; succeed and stay, fight for the top three, fail and go home, prepare for the Eight Extremes Challenge, there’s no other choice.”

Hua Yun exhaled a long breath, surprisingly no longer nervous.

She looked at Chen Wen, showing an earnest smile: ”Your courage is really great, but I’m not any worse, see you in the top three!”

After speaking, Hua Yun marched out of Chen Wen’s room with her head held high.

...

After Hua Yun left, Lin Jiawei couldn’t help but say, ”Will Hua Yun really take such an unconventional path?”

”She has no choice.”

Chen Wen shook his head and said, ”As long as she doesn’t give up hunting, she has to do this.”

Jiang Chang asked, ”But what if one step goes wrong, won’t it collapse?”

”Don’t worry, it won’t collapse.”

Chen Wen waved his hand and said, ”With so much rain falling locally, the smell is hard to spread, and at high altitude with strong winds, as long as she bleeds the prey, predators can hardly smell the prey hanging on the trees.”

”Hua Yun’s sense of direction is also very good, and her nature is very cautious, she won’t get lost.”

”Besides, if I had her archery skills, or an environment suitable for using a spear, I would also start hunting this way.”

Hearing this, the two assistants were stunned.

Chen Wen even considered the recent rain information he just learned; it seems he really has hunting thoughts!

Also, just listening to Chen Wen, it seems that hunting isn’t as risky as imagined.

The two looked at each other, both a bit bewildered.

However, at this moment, the door knocked again.

Chen Wen opened the door, it was Roland, Gaston, Adam, and Fred.

Just as Chen Wen thought they were also here for advice.

Fred instead pulled out two bottles of spirits from his bear-like broad chest.

”Vodka!”

Fred chuckled, ”Care to join me for a drink?”

Chen Wen also smiled, ”It would be rude to refuse, let’s go!”

Before survival starts, only tonight can we truly relax.

Roland behind grabbed Chen Wen, laughing loudly and took him outside, ”Tonight, we must take you down!”

Chen Wen also laughed heartily, poking Roland’s rib, ”When it comes to drinking, taking on all four of you is no problem for me!”

Jiang Chang in the back admonished in Chinese, ”Be careful, don’t let drinking cause mistakes.”

Chen Wen waved his hand, indicating not to worry.

With [Varied Temperature], his metabolism speed is extremely fast during high body temperature state.

Even with spirits, after taking a sip, it can metabolize within less than an hour.

So, getting into trouble due to drinking simply won’t happen for Chen Wen.

Hearing Chen Wen wanting to drink with all four of them,

Fred squinted his eyes.

As a true Russian man, he has never been convinced by anyone in terms of drinking capacity.

”Hehe, no going home sober!”

...

The day before survival.

After Chen Wen finished breakfast, he sat in the player-exclusive dining room looking at some information for a while.

Fred, wobbling, finally made his way to the dining room.

Seeing Chen Wen’s state, Fred looked as if he had seen a ghost.

He subconsciously stepped back half a step, his tall body thumping against the door frame.

”Hello, had a good sleep last night?”

Chen Wen squinted his eyes and smiled.

Fred grunted, ”Next time, I’ll definitely take you down!”

Last night, Chen Wen, like an unfillable tank, forcibly drank down four people.

This left Fred in amazement.

Compared to Fred, who can still be out, Roland, Gaston, and Adam are still sleeping soundly in bed.

It’s estimated they won’t get up until noon.

...

Countdown: Final day.

Everything is ready; the contestants’ mental and physical states have returned to optimal levels.

The show crew installed filming devices in the player survival zone today.

The contestants will depart tomorrow.

In the dining room, the ten contestants gathered so completely for the first time.

Everyone has been eating like crazy these days, gaining weight.

After all, living alone in the wilderness is different from other survival shows.

Every thirty days, the crew will check the weight.

If too light, plus poor condition of the participant, their qualification will be forcibly canceled.

Therefore, gaining fat is something all contestants are doing.

Moreover, for long-term survival, having fat reserves and not having fat reserves are entirely different challenges.

Chen Wen was also eating fatty meat at this moment.

Eating fat in the morning, only survival enthusiasts like them can eat it without changing their expression.

”Hey, how much weight did you gain?”

Seeing Hua Yun also eating meat, Chen Wen casually asked.

Hua Yun glared at Chen Wen, ”Casually inquiring about a lady’s weight is very impolite, you know.”

Come on, we’re tight, aren’t we?

Chen Wen curled his lips but didn’t say this out loud.

He changed the topic, ”This time only collaboration between contestants is prohibited, meeting isn’t.”

”If you hunt towards my survival area, we can look out for each other.”

This made Hua Yun nod slightly.

The memory of surviving in the Yukon with Chen Wen is still fresh for Hua Yun.

Chen Wen always had some peculiar ideas, and they worked well.

”I will lean towards you.”

Hua Yun whispered.

This is just between them; other contestants aren’t likely to search for each other.

One reason is the distance is indeed far, and another is the trust between contestants is also a concern.

Anyway, they are still in a competitive state.

Moreover, though the show restricts harming other contestants, it doesn’t prohibit theft.

The room for maneuvers here is quite large.
