[Note: The nature of pines, Proud Snow and Frost!—Western white pine]

[Please make a choice within one minute or give up! Overdue will automatically select the first entry!]

Without hesitation, Chen Wen decisively chose the third entry—[Proud Snow and Frost].

This entry is undoubtedly what he needs the most at the moment.

However, the only downside is that this entry is not effective now.

It will only be useful once it snows and winter arrives.

But it’s just right, with [Cold Resistance] covering, Chen Wen can endure the current cold.

After choosing the entry, Chen Wen continued drinking tea.

After drinking half a pot of tea, he considered himself full.

After standing up, Chen Wen started working.

This afternoon, he planned to clear out this lowland and take advantage of free time to cut down some trees.

...

Taking the shovel, Chen Wen shoveled out all the topsoil in the lowland.

Then, he used a long spear to plan the position of the main beam in the middle of the lowland.

Once the main beam’s position was confirmed, he planned two rooms based on the main beam.

Chen Wen definitely prioritized clearing the living area first.

He used the direction leaning against the hillside as the orientation for his head, then used a long spear to mark out the residential area and essential equipment storage area.

The planning only took a few minutes.

After finishing, Chen Wen waved the shovel and began digging.

He deliberately piled the excavated soil on the ground outside for later use.

As time passed, Chen Wen’s shovel flew, and he continuously dug out the soil.

”Luckily, I came early, the soil here hasn’t frozen yet. If I came later, it would be difficult to dig!”

Chen Wen kept digging, feeling grateful.

After digging for an hour, Chen Wen took a break.

He drank a cup of hot tea, grabbed an axe, a saw, and a long spear to the surrounding woods, and began cutting trees.

With a saw, Chen Wen was incredibly fast.

The pine tree with a diameter of twenty centimeters was felled in less than twenty minutes.

The birch tree of similar thickness was also sawed quickly by Chen Wen.

However, when sawing the second pine tree, this one caught Chen Wen’s attention.

”The trunk of this tree seems to be infested, look at the marks on it, these are signs of insects, there are obvious holes in the bark, and inside there’s some sawdust.”

Chen Wen said, reaching out to press the surface.

He could clearly feel the problem inside.

But Chen Wen was not picky.

This wood wasn’t for the main beam, the infestation didn’t matter much.

After sawing down this pine tree, Chen Wen continued looking for more pine trees.

Especially those infested, he deliberately found a lot.

...

About an hour later.

Looking at the six felled trees, Chen Wen stopped again.

Dragging these trees back to the camp, he drank some more hot tea—Chen Wen covered the pot with a lid and placed it near the campfire so that the pine needle tea would stay warm.

After drinking the tea, he sat on the ground to rest for a while.

Chen Wen continued his actions.

But he didn’t continue sawing wood; instead, he turned into the forest to collect some firewood for the night.

After collecting firewood, he began searching for stones.

About five minutes later, Chen Wen found a hill formed by a pile of stones.

Digging out the stones, he chose those suitable for construction and carried them back.

As time passed, both Chen Wen’s physical strength and energy reserves were rapidly decreasing.

After two trips.

Chen Wen came to the campfire, drinking water and resting.

”It’s exhausting.”

Chen Wen took a breath, unable to help but comment.

After resting for a while, when the sky was about to turn completely dark.

Chen Wen started preparing to build the temporary shelter for the night.

Using the trees he felled earlier, he cleaned off the branches.

He stuck them into the ground, forming a ’Y’ shape, then inserted another ’Y’ not far away.

Then he placed a thin, long tree branch in the connection of the ’Y’.

He laid a waterproof cloth over the thin tree branch.

Used some of the small stones dug out to weigh down the corners of the waterproof cloth.

Finally, covered it with the excavated soil.

As the evening progressed, Chen Wen’s simple shelter was completed.

However, Chen Wen didn’t rest.

By the light of the campfire, he continued digging, intending to dig out the living area on this side.

The monitor was secretly speechless upon seeing Chen Wen’s actions.

The energy consumed today definitely reached several thousand calories!

And the only intake was a pot of pine needle tea boiled at noon.

It’s unsustainable!

How long can he keep this up?

Lin Jiawei was worried too.

He knew perfectly well that working fiercely based on accumulated survival skills in the early stages is an extreme strategy.

It’s just slightly better than Hua Yun’s hunting.

If he doesn’t finish the shelter before exhausting energy, without securing enough food.

He’d have to head home.

While the survival strategy for 80% of other contestants is more about stability.

They began hunting today, leaving shelter construction for later.

...

At night.

Liu Yu received reports on Chen Wen and Hua Yun’s situation.

He didn’t pay much attention to Hua Yun’s situation.

He knew that Hua Yun’s challenge lies ahead, in how to turn the advantages of hunting into advantages of survival.

Thus, Liu Yu focused on reviewing Chen Wen’s survival situation.

”Not bad.”

Liu Yu leaned back in his chair, leisurely browsing the phone screen: ”Hmm, the luck is surprisingly good, if he can keep going like this, this kid will be fine.”

”But the shelter...”

Liu Yu was somewhat speechless.

It’s really... having a unique survival style of Chen Wen.

He shook his head, feeling not so optimistic about Chen Wen’s shelter.

In his view, even during a long survival of up to a hundred days, if built well, wood would do.

After all, stones don’t add much.

But upon seeing Chen Wen’s construction process, he paused.

It looked familiar.

He instinctively found Vice President Zhao’s WeChat and made a video call.

”Liu? What’s up?”

Zhao seemed to be lying in bed, looking relaxed.

Liu Yu asked: ”Did Chen Wen learn time management from you?”

”Ah, why?”

Zhao replied: ”I saw he’s part of the association, and this kid has a good character, so I taught him two methods, one is the Pomodoro Technique, and the other is the Eisenhower Matrix.”

”This kid loves using the Pomodoro Technique, but he has decent stamina, he directly combined four pomodoros into one, equivalent to a giant pomodoro, which was quite interesting, he learned pretty well at the time.”

Liu Yu nodded: ”Indeed good.”

So that’s it, Chen Wen indeed learned from Zhao.

As the association’s master of time management, Zhao’s survival planning and labor efficiency are unparalleled, even compared to him.

If Chen Wen secretly learned from Zhao, his survival ability is probably higher than he expected.

This is intriguing!

Liu Yu thought as he put down his phone.
