Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Stella Shields smiled. ”My brother owns an entertainment company. I’m just dabbling for fun.”

Anne Sutton looked at her and said, ”By the way, there’s something I want to ask you.”

Stella Shields said, ”Go ahead.”

Anne Sutton said, ”When I was talking with Ian just now, he said you don’t let him call you ’Mom.’ Why is that? Isn’t he your son?”

Charles Prescott had also said that Stella Shields was Ian’s mother, so it must be true.

Hearing Anne Sutton’s words, Stella Shields was taken aback for a moment. She found the situation quite surreal.

’After all, Anne Sutton is Ian’s real mother, yet here she is, asking me this kind of question.’

’From the looks of it, Anne Sutton doesn’t know anything.’

But she had promised Nathan Fawcett she wouldn’t let it slip, so she went along with the story. ”I can’t help it. You know I’m in the entertainment industry right now. If people found out I have a child, it wouldn’t be good for my image, so I have to keep it a secret.”

Anne Sutton hadn’t expected that to be the reason.

She said to Stella Shields, ”Work might be important, but... Ian really likes you! He’ll be very sad if you do this.”

Stella Shields replied to Anne Sutton, ”Doesn’t he have Ethan? Ethan has always been the one looking after him. I have my own life to live, you know!”

”But you can’t just forbid him from calling you ’Mom’!”

Stella Shields looked at her and said, ”Ms. Sutton, you seem to care for Ian so much?”

’Doesn’t she know Ian’s true identity?’

’To be so concerned about him...’

Stella Shields found this quite surprising.

But...

’Perhaps this is the bond of blood!’

Anne Sutton said, ”The child I had with Nathan is gone. If he were still alive, he’d be about Ian’s age. I’ve been grieving all these years. So, when I saw how sad Ian was because of you, I couldn’t help but speak up for him. I’m sorry, I was meddling.”

’It’s really their private matter, after all!’

Stella Shields looked at her and said, ”It’s alright. Thank you for telling me this, Ms. Sutton. You meant well. I’ll make more time to be with him in the future and do my best to fulfill my duties as a mother.”

Anne Sutton said gratefully, ”That’s a relief.”

Stella Shields glanced at her. ”Well, I’ll let you get back to it. I’m going to check on Ian.”

With that, she walked through the door. Ian had already changed his clothes.

Stella Shields stood at the doorway, looking at him. ”Ian.”

When Ian saw Stella Shields, he asked, ”What are you doing here?”

Stella Shields said, ”I came to see you. Aren’t you happy to see me?”

Ian looked at her, wanting to say something but holding it back.

He had heard from others that Stella Shields was his mother.

After all, it was all over the news.

He hadn’t known before, thinking Stella Shields was just an auntie.

But ever since he heard that Stella Shields was his mother and that she wouldn’t acknowledge him, he felt hurt, like he was a child no mother wanted.

Stella Shields said, ”Happy birthday! Silly Ian, why are you still so down?”

Ian lowered his head. ”Everyone says you’re my mom. Why won’t you acknowledge me? Why do you only let me call you ’Auntie’? Why does everyone else have a mom?”

Stella Shields looked at the foolish boy. ”If you want, you can call me ’Mom’.”

’This was never about whether I’d let Ian call me that or not.’

’Anna Linden had always wanted her and Nathan Fawcett to get together, but Nathan himself was unwilling.’

’He’d rather say his child’s mother was dead than give Ian a complete family.’

’And now, to top it all off, he’s brought Anne Sutton back.’

’Anne Sutton had been so cruel back then, getting rid of him, yet in his eyes, she was still the child’s mother!’

Ian looked at Stella Shields, staring at her. He had wanted to call her ’Mom’ and had been unhappy about this for a long time.

But now that Stella Shields had agreed, he looked at her, wanting to say the word, but he couldn’t get it out.

After all, he had called her ’Auntie’ his whole life.

...

Anne Sutton was in her room, changing her clothes.

She was standing in front of the mirror, even putting on some makeup. Just as she was getting serious about it, Nathan Fawcett walked in.

She saw him enter and close the door behind him, which made her jump. ”You... How did you get in?”

Nathan Fawcett stood to the side, watching her. ”Don’t mind me.”

Anne Sutton said, ”Wait... isn’t Ms. Shields back? Why aren’t you with her?”

’It was one thing for this man to keep coming to see her before, but now the main event is back, and he’s still running over here!’

She had known Stella Shields for several years.

But they were not on good terms; they had always been romantic rivals.

’If he shows up here like this and Stella Shields finds out, she’ll probably hold a grudge against me!’

Besides, she had no desire to be a homewrecker.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”What’s this? You were sleeping in the same bed with me just this afternoon, and now you’re turning on me so quickly?”

He didn’t bother to lower his voice.

And he was standing right by the door!

Anne Sutton had no idea how soundproof the door was and was terrified someone might hear.

She wanted nothing more than to rush over and clamp her hand over his mouth. ”Alright, stop talking! Are you trying to get me killed?”

”I’m merely stating a fact. How is that trying to get you killed?”

Anne Sutton whispered, ”Aren’t you afraid your wife will find out?”

”I already told you, I’m not married.”

”Right! You’re not married.” Anne Sutton was getting genuinely angry at his behavior. This man might have the same face as Nathan, but his conduct was so much worse. He already had a child and a woman in his life, yet he was still deliberately flirting with her!

Anne Sutton said, ”Just because you haven’t had a wedding doesn’t mean you two aren’t in a relationship! Who doesn’t know that Ms. Shields is your fiancée and the mother of your child?”

Even Charles Prescott knew, so everyone else must be even more certain.

Nathan Fawcett frowned, wondering where she had heard all this from.

Anne Sutton said, ”You should leave. Now!”

Seeing the disgusted look on her face, Nathan Fawcett turned and walked out the door.

The butler came over. ”Sir.”

The members of the Linden Family all called Nathan Fawcett ’Family Head’.

But the butler had been by his side for a long time and was used to calling him ’Sir,’ so he hadn’t changed it.

Nathan Fawcett asked the butler, ”Who’s been spreading rumors that Stella is my fiancée and that Ian is her child?”

”...” Hearing this, the butler said, ”It’s probably because of the news online! You know that Ms. Shields is quite famous right now. For a popular star like her, there’s always a lot of gossip. And with that comes a lot of speculation!”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Get those stories taken down!”

’He had kept to himself all these years, without a single woman by his side. Not like her—the moment he ’died,’ she got together with Charles Prescott.’

’And now she was misunderstanding him like this, thinking he was some kind of scumbag. Nathan Fawcett was not happy about that at all.’

Butler Walters looked at his master, not understanding why he was so angry.

But since it was an order from Nathan Fawcett, he had no choice but to comply.

The butler nodded.

Nathan Fawcett started walking, just in time to run into Stella Shields coming out of Ian’s room. Seeing Nathan’s dark expression, Stella Shields asked, ”What’s wrong with you? Who made you so upset?”
