Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

”Not anymore!” Anne Sutton said. ”Nathan Fawcett has been in a terrible mood lately. He snaps at me over the slightest thing, and there’s something shady going on with him and Stella Shields. I’m starting to regret being with him.”

This was exactly what Charles Prescott loved to hear.

After all, what bothered him most was that Anne Sutton had left him for Nathan Fawcett, only to constantly provoke him.

But now that she had humbled herself and was tearfully complaining to him about how hard things were with Nathan Fawcett, Charles Prescott’s heart softened.

”It’s good that you realize that! Few people can stand Nathan Fawcett’s temper. Haven’t you seen how he treats his own father at home? He’s a total tyrant!”

Anne Sutton said, ”Then what should I do? If I try to divorce him now, he’ll never let me go!”

She looked at Charles Prescott, saying this on purpose.

Charles Prescott said, ”Isn’t he on his way out anyway? Let’s just leave things as they are for now. I won’t tell my father. Once Nathan Fawcett is gone, we can discuss what to do next.”

As long as Anne Sutton’s heart was with him, the baby could be dealt with at any time. Charles Prescott wasn’t so worried anymore.

He had been certain all along that she would regret it.

’It seems she really can’t stand Nathan Fawcett anymore,’ he thought.

’Otherwise, she wouldn’t be saying such placating words to me now.’

Anne Sutton said, ”Alright, then. You get some rest. I’m going to go pick up my parents from the hospital.”

Anne Sutton deliberately gave him a gentle look before turning to leave. Just as she was about to go, Charles Prescott said, ”Wait.”

Anne Sutton turned back and glanced at him. ”What’s wrong?”

’Holy crap!’

’He’s not going to back out now, is he?’

Charles Prescott said, ”Unblock me on WeChat.”

”...” She had blocked him when she was angry with him before.

Hearing his request now, Anne Sutton took out her phone and unblocked Charles Prescott.

They had interacted just like this when they were together before.

But now, just exchanging a few words with him made her feel like she was going to puke.

However, if she didn’t placate him and get him on her side, it would be hard to explain things to Miles Prescott.

’For my baby, I can endure this!’

If she could endure Nathan Fawcett’s temper, she could certainly endure Charles Prescott’s past indiscretions.

’It’s not like I’m actually planning to get back together with him anyway!’

After Anne Sutton left, Charles Prescott returned to his hospital bed and picked up his phone. Seeing that she had added him back, his mood instantly improved.

’Yes, no matter what, I still like the feeling of being courted by Anne Sutton,’ he realized.

He even overlooked the fact that she was carrying Nathan Fawcett’s child.

Anne Sutton drove her family home.

Finally back home, Mrs. Sutton’s spirits lifted considerably.

Anne Sutton sat on the sofa, watching her mother’s happy expression. The hospital really couldn’t compare to the comfort of home.

Sean Sutton sat to the side, phone in hand, sending a voice message to Chairman Fawcett. ”Thank you for the business referral, Chairman. I’ll take them out to dinner tonight.”

Anne Sutton realized she was still quite useless.

Although she despised her father, she would still be terrified if something truly happened to her family, if their lives were in danger.

So, for their sake, she was even willing to say things she didn’t mean to Charles Prescott.

Anne Sutton didn’t rush back to the Fawcett Family estate. Instead, she had a meal with her family and then went to her room for a nap.

She preferred being at her own home over the Fawcetts’.

Now that Sean Sutton was benefiting from the connection, he no longer pestered her about getting an abortion. Although her parents still didn’t particularly like Nathan Fawcett, they had to admit that their son-in-law did bring them advantages.

After a nap, Anne Sutton was woken by her phone.

She answered the call. ”Hello.”

”Where are you?”

”I’m at home.”

”Come out to dinner with me tonight.” Nathan Fawcett was sitting on the sofa. He had originally planned to have dinner with his mother and didn’t want to bring Anne Sutton along.

But since Anne Sutton was fond of his mother and was now cooped up at home because of the pregnancy, he decided to grant her this wish.

’She was mad at me all day yesterday. If I humor her a little today, she’ll probably forgive me, right?’

Anne Sutton said, ”Okay.”

She generally didn’t refuse any of Nathan Fawcett’s requests these days.

She came out of her room, and Mrs. Sutton asked, ”Are you staying for dinner?”

”I can’t. I have to go back. Nathan Fawcett is looking for me.”

At the mention of Nathan Fawcett, Mrs. Sutton’s brow furrowed.

Anne Sutton looked at her and said, ”I’m heading back now.”

”Go on, then. I’ll be eating alone tonight. Your father has to go meet a client.”

Sean Sutton was a workaholic. As long as there was business to be done, he didn’t mind at all, even if his injuries hadn’t fully healed.

Anne Sutton returned to the Fawcett estate and went upstairs to find Nathan Fawcett changing in the walk-in closet.

The butler was standing to the side, saying, ”This one looks very nice.”

Nathan Fawcett was dressed especially handsomely today. He had even gotten his hair cut short, making him look much more refreshed than usual.

He looked at his reflection in the mirror but still seemed dissatisfied and went to change into another outfit.

The butler stood by, a helpless look on his face.

”What’s gotten into him?” Anne Sutton asked.

The butler glanced at her and said, ”Ma’am, you’re back. Mr. Fawcett is changing his clothes.”

”...What, he has to dress up just to go out for dinner? Is he meeting someone important?”

Nathan Fawcett was the last person to care about his appearance.

No matter the special occasion, he would just walk out in a random shirt, completely indifferent to what others thought of him.

Today, though...

’This is so weird!’

’Anyone who didn’t know better would think he was going on a blind date!’

The butler pressed his lips together, unwilling to reveal the truth.

Anne Sutton sat on the sofa and watched as Nathan Fawcett tried on two more outfits. He looked handsome on a whole new level, yet he was still asking if he looked good.

”Aren’t you done yet?”

Seeing her sitting there, Nathan Fawcett said, ”When did you get back?”

”...” ’So I’ve been sitting here for ages and he didn’t even notice? Am I invisible?’

Anne Sutton said, ”I don’t think that outfit looks as good as the last one.”

”Really?” Nathan Fawcett looked at her skeptically.

Anne Sutton nodded. ”Mm-hm. Really! Why would I lie to you?”

She was being sincere, only hoping he would finish his fussing so they could go eat sooner.

’If this keeps up, we’re going to be late!’

’If I’d known Nathan Fawcett was going to be this fussy, I wouldn’t have rushed back. I could have had dinner with my mother at home.’

Nathan Fawcett took Anne Sutton’s advice and changed back into the previous outfit—a dark suit. It was the first time she had seen him dress up like this, and he actually looked quite dashing.

’Damn, if he dressed up like this every time he went out, my parents wouldn’t be so scared of him on sight!’

Nathan Fawcett looked at Anne Sutton and asked, ”Aren’t you going to change?”

”What’s wrong with this?” She was wearing a very casual dress. Although she had been running around all day, she didn’t feel there was anyone worth dressing up for.

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Then let’s go.”

...

As they sat in the car, Anne Sutton looked at him and asked, ”So, who are we meeting? You seem to care a lot.”
