Married the Sick Uncle – Just Waiting to Inherit His Fortune

Fortunately, when they lay down this time, he didn’t hold her again. Anne Sutton could finally get a good night’s sleep.

The next morning, when Anne Sutton got up, Nathan Fawcett was already awake. He was taking a shower in the bathroom, and she could hear the sound of running water.

His phone, which he had left on the side, rang.

Anne Sutton glanced at it. There was no name displayed, so she didn’t know who was calling.

She picked up the phone, answered the call, and said nothing, waiting for the other person to speak first.

On the other end of the line, Stella Shields was already speaking. ”Mr. Fawcett, are you back home? How are you feeling?”

Her voice was filled with concern. Over the past two days, in front of Anna Linden, she had seen how Anna treated Nathan Fawcett.

She had previously thought he had a bad temper, but she never expected him to put up with so much in front of his mother.

But because she had to attend Ethan Linden’s funeral, she hadn’t returned with Nathan Fawcett and didn’t know when he had left.

She had only just now remembered to call and ask.

Anne Sutton said, ”He’s already back.”

Hearing this, Stella Shields paused for a moment, recognizing her voice. ”Oh, it’s Ms. Sutton! In that case, please help take care of Mr. Fawcett. Thank you for your trouble.”

With that, Stella Shields hung up.

Anne Sutton held the phone, listening to Stella Shields’s words. ’How ridiculous. She was the one with Nathan Fawcett for two days, and now she’s telling me to take care of him.’

Lying in bed, Anne Sutton instantly lost all desire to make lunch for Nathan Fawcett.

’He hasn’t eaten for the past two days, and he seems fine, right?’

’When he’s with his precious Ms. Shields, he doesn’t need to eat. He can just live on love!’

Nathan Fawcett walked out and saw Anne Sutton lying on the bed. He asked, ”What’s for lunch?”

”Why are you asking me?” Anne Sutton retorted. ”Eat whatever you want.”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”That dish you made when your parents came over was delicious.”

He hadn’t finished it at the time because Stella Shields had arrived, which he greatly regretted. ”Can you make it again?”

Anne Sutton’s eyes widened as she stared at him. He had humiliated her and made her lose face that day. Her mother had even cried over it, and Charles Prescott had come over just to mock her.

’And now he has the nerve to bring it up?’

’Don’t get angry, don’t get angry!’

She clenched her fists, comforting herself internally.

Anne Sutton put on a pained expression. ”I’m not feeling well today. Is it okay if I don’t cook?”

Nathan Fawcett said, ”Didn’t you say last night that it wouldn’t be a problem?”

He just wanted to eat her cooking. He really, really wanted to.

Anne Sutton replied, ”I don’t know. This is my first pregnancy, so maybe everyone’s constitution is a little different.”

’Anyway, I just don’t want to cook. I’ll get away with it if I can.’

’If he gets really angry, I’ll cook then.’

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett said, ”Alright, then. Get some rest.”

After all, the baby was the most important thing right now.

As a good father, he couldn’t let anything happen to his child.

The thought of not having to cook for this man put Anne Sutton in a much better mood. She took another nap, and when she woke up, she found that lunch preparations were already underway.

The Fawcett family’s chef was cooking today and had made many of Anne Sutton’s favorite dishes.

Chairman Fawcett was doting on his grandchild, so he had instructed the kitchen to prepare all sorts of delicious food specifically for her from now on.

Before, Anne Sutton had always been the one serving Nathan Fawcett. After all, if Nathan Fawcett wasn’t eating well, no one else could either.

Now, seeing that everything was prepared for her, she sat down, feeling quite happy.

Nathan Fawcett was there too.

He hadn’t been home for two days and hadn’t gone anywhere today. He had an appointment for a doctor to come and examine him later.

Nathan Fawcett sat to the side, looking at the table laden with what others would consider delicacies, his brow furrowed with anxiety.

Anne Sutton took a couple of bites, then said to the completely motionless Nathan Fawcett, ”This tastes pretty good. You should try some.”

Nathan Fawcett glanced at her, tried a mouthful, chewed twice, and immediately spat it out.

He ordered, ”Get me some water.”

Hearing Nathan Fawcett’s order, a servant hurried to pour some water.

Anne Sutton watched this incredibly fussy man with curiosity. ”So what did you eat these past two days while you were out?”

”I didn’t eat anything,” Nathan Fawcett said. ”I drank water.”

”I guess even water tastes sweet when you’re with someone you like. But when you’re with me, nothing tastes good. Why don’t you call Ms. Shields over?”

Hearing her words, Nathan Fawcett’s expression turned cold. ”What nonsense are you talking about?”

The person in the photo with Stella Shields wasn’t him; it was Ethan.

Stella Shields was an old acquaintance of Ethan’s; she had simply made a mistake. Later, when she saw Nathan Fawcett elsewhere and heard people mention his name, she assumed he was the person she had taken the photo with back then.

That’s what led to the previous mix-up.

However, Nathan Fawcett had no intention of explaining any of this to others.

And he certainly wouldn’t tell Anne Sutton.

Seeing him get angry, Anne Sutton shut her mouth. ’He has the gall to do it, but I’m not allowed to talk about it?’

’Fine, I won’t say another word!’

Anne Sutton finished her meal with relish. She saw Nathan Fawcett sitting to the side, having drunk a glass of water and eaten a few grains of rice. He hadn’t touched the other dishes at all.

He had eaten what she cooked quite happily before.

The butler said, ”Sir, would you like to eat a little more?”

”I’m already full.”

He truly couldn’t eat any more.

The butler stood by, able to do nothing but worry.

Before long, the person who was there to examine Nathan Fawcett arrived. He stood up and looked at Anne Sutton, who was still eating. He couldn’t eat a thing, yet she was enjoying her meal immensely.

Seeing him staring at her, Anne Sutton asked, ”Wh... What is it?”

’I didn’t do anything wrong, did I?’

”Never mind,” Nathan Fawcett said. ”Come out for a walk with me later.”

”But your health...”

”It’s fine!”

Seeing he had already made up his mind, Anne Sutton didn’t argue further.

She finished her meal and rested for a while. By then, Nathan Fawcett had also finished his examination.

The two of them got into the car. Inside, Nathan Fawcett didn’t speak, and Anne Sutton had nothing to say either.

She used to think about initiating conversations with him, but now...

She no longer had her previous enthusiasm.

The Fawcett family’s car stopped in front of a baby store. Nathan Fawcett got out first, and Anne Sutton followed. It was only when she saw him enter the store that she realized he was here to buy things for the baby.

Although she had been dealing with pregnant women ever since she started working, this was her first time becoming a mother herself, and naturally, her first time visiting a store like this.

When Nathan Fawcett walked in, the store clerks were all a little intimidated by him. They just watched from a distance, not daring to approach.

Nathan Fawcett himself didn’t mind.

He walked to a rack at the front and stopped. Seeing Anne Sutton standing a few steps away, he said, ”Come here. What do you think of this?”

Anne Sutton walked over and saw he was holding a tiny piece of clothing.

Her own heart softened. ”Oh, it’s so cute!”

It was probably the first time Nathan Fawcett had ever asked for her opinion. ”So, we’ll buy this one?”

”But isn’t it too early to buy it now?” There was still a long time until the baby was due.

As soon as Anne Sutton finished speaking, the man beside her fell silent.

She looked up at him and saw his face had darkened, looking particularly frightening.

’Okay!’

’My mistake!’

’He only has less than two months left. If he doesn’t buy it now, he won’t get another chance!’
