Surviving The Fourth Calamity

The golden peacock dances in mid-air.

Soon, it is joined by a companion.

Hill couldn’t help but tilt his head... even though he had tried his best to be flawless, there was still a noticeable difference when Lansendel’s true form descended.

Only a true Great Peacock possesses that kind of divine beauty, perfect beyond measure.

Lansendel flew with the statue peacock for a while, then dragged it back to the ground.

He conspicuously covered the statue with one wing.

The Great Peacock turned to Hill and asked in an unusually cheerful tone, ”My little Hill, is this a gift for me?”

”Where’s your face, Lansendel?” Celene couldn’t help but speak up, ”It’s obviously something Hill made for himself!”

This peacock statue actually looks more like a guardian for the Magic Tower.

Many mages like to add something similar to their Magic Towers... for example, in Toril, many powerful mages enjoy tethering a Giant Dragon at home.

After all, to rival a Dragon with strange objects, you need not only powerful materials but also exceptional craftsmanship in creating these objects.

That’s not an ability everyone possesses.

Therefore, most mages prefer to violently subdue a Dragon.

It’s just a lack of virtue, but they don’t care.

This Great Peacock is obviously a vanguard against evil... similar to Hill’s painting, but more focused.

Thus, its strength in striking evil is also more potent.

Of course, the powerful effect also owes to the Sun Peacock having a hint of Lansendel’s colors.

As deities, they understand that such creations mostly stem from a sudden flash of inspiration.

Even Hill couldn’t create another statue like this Sun Peacock... the appearance might be identical, but the aura is hard to replicate.

That’s why Celene mocks Lansendel.

Normally, he should ask Hill to make another one for him.

Then Lansendel could imbue this peacock with divine power himself... in that case, it would likely surpass the one in Hill’s possession.

”What do you understand?” Lansendel retorted, glancing at her.

Hill shifted slightly: for some reason, when Lansendel takes the form of a peacock, his sense of mockery seems stronger.

Could it be because the beady eyes are more aggressive?

Anyhow, the gaze that embodies three parts mockery, three parts disdain, and even four parts provocation looks quite punchable.

The Great Peacock waved his wing: ”How could someone like you, who only knows how to smash with a hammer, understand art?

It’s true; in your eyes, there is only white and silver-blue. How could you comprehend the beauty of color pairing?

This naturally formed aura, how can simple divine power compare?

Tch~”

The contempt in his gaze made silver light shimmer in Celene’s hand.

Hill quickly intervened in the conversation... he didn’t want to cause any chaos due to his probing.

Though he used his friend a bit, Hill had no ill intentions.

He merely wanted to know if, when his mouth was sealed and someone happened to bring up other matters, potentially affecting some future circumstances, he would be unable to respond.

This was crucial for Hill.

He was not necessarily looking to entangle himself in others’ destinies... but he needed to know the extent of his incapacity to speak.

Otherwise, if someone took advantage of his inability to speak, doing or saying something harmful to him?

He had to prepare a response in advance.

Especially, when his prophetic ability was discovered... and suddenly being silenced could serve as proof.

It’s pointless to say he can steer the topic elsewhere.

If someone intends to plot, they can push him into a corner.

Fortunately, fate always favors him.

When the topic is raised by someone else... even fate’s protagonist... Hill can handle it normally.

Hill understands that such a method should not be used frequently.

No matter the issue, frequent use leads to deterioration.

But doing it occasionally can still be amazingly effective.

At least, no one will think he’s easy to deal with, which is good.

He slightly squinted his large eyes, smiling with curved eyes, cheeks lightly rippling with two small dimples: ”Lansendel actually likes this peacock so much?

Indeed, it is the most perfect creation I’ve produced!

Giving it to you is not an issue, but you have to help imbue divine power on the others... Celene is right, I intend to use them to guard the tower.”

Hill never lies.

He truly plans to add this Great Peacock to all his Magic Towers.

After all, in any world, the Sun leans toward him... Though Toril’s Sun doesn’t, but that Sun doesn’t shine much either.

The true brilliance is Lansendel.

啧~ No matter how you say it, the Sun God doesn’t even have the Divinity of the Dawn’s Radiance; it sounds a bit laughable.

No wonder Amanata is leaning towards the God of Law, and no wonder Kashus considers him as kin... A fervent burner, how does he resemble the Sun?

The Sun is a symbol of light and heat!

Only a half-powered Sun... tch tch tch~

Forget it, he got all the benefits, so best not to delve too deeply.

After all, the Sun Peacock atop Hill’s Magic Tower has additional enhancement.

Including this chaotic Dual Core world.

No matter how muddled things get, Lansendel is the savior of this world’s Sun.

Even if this Sun eventually gives rise to a Sun God belonging to this world, he will still accept this reality and remember this grace.

Thus, the Sun Peacock illuminated by this Sun is bound to have extraordinary power.

Hill always thinks a bit more... he worries that someone might take action against Russell and Carpenter while he is away.

After all, he plans to have these two children live beyond the planet, in the Starry Sky.

The advantage is keeping them as far away as possible from intrigue and petty tactics.

But the disadvantage is that it won’t be necessary to break through the planet’s defenses to target these two children.

Although Hill is confident in his Alchemy skills, he ultimately hopes to apply as much protection as possible, as strong as possible.

This Sun Peacock is one of the protections he has prepared.

Of course, he couldn’t possibly leave his most satisfying one to Russell... that would rather bring them trouble.

But one granted a portion of Lansendel’s Divine Power is not an issue.

Anyone daring to tamper with that thing would incur not just Hill’s wrath... but also Lansendel’s.

The crucial point is, who dares to run around carrying an object with Lansendel’s Divine Power? Especially a stolen one.

”No problem! Leave it to me; you can rely on me again in the future.” Lansendel agreed cheerfully.

Hill couldn’t help but flash him a radiant smile.

Lansendel is truly a very good friend.

If it were any other Deities, they would never tolerate Hill’s approach... That Peacock was modeled after Lansendel himself!

Even if Hill’s identity and status prevent demands for worship, such a disrespectful request should never be raised.

But the fundamental principle of friendship is equality.

After leaving Teraxil, Hill encountered many Deities, yet until today, he hadn’t found one he could communicate with normally.

Round and round, it’s still Lansendel.

At the moment Lansendel pointed at his cuff and shouted without hesitation, at the moment this Lord of Dawn treated his own small statue as Hill’s work, Hill knew he could be friends with him.

This is something he never imagined before entering Toril.

Before that, Lansendel was always the Disaster King in his mind.

Of course, he still is now.

Hill doesn’t think Lansendel would feel any regret over those past disasters.

Both he and the followers who lost everything and could only enter his Divine Kingdom merely placed their lives on a one-way gamble, with a failed outcome.

The spirit of accepting defeat is truly exhibited in the Lord of Dawn and his followers.

Hill didn’t understand before... but now he comprehends why, even with complete failure, Lansendel remains respected and trusted by the followers.

Even if they might fall from the Cloud Realm, Lansendel ensures his people won’t plummet to the abyss.

In such a cruel place like Toril, this is already the most beautiful future mortals can aspire to.

Adventure, at least in the eyes of Lansendel’s followers, is no longer just the game of Deities, the paradise of the strong.

Mortals in the Fantasy World truly have a hard life.

The more he understands this, the more Hill finds himself restrained.

When he just left Teraxil, Hill thought only about minding his own business, not getting himself involved.

But now... every time he restrains his own hands, it’s because he doesn’t want to be the one causing a disaster.

The reason he tightly clings to the path of the Mage is because he wants to continue being human.

Therefore, Hill must maintain his humanity.

He glanced at Lansendel, muttering to himself, claws flashing Golden Light... applying Divine Power to several small peacocks, wings firmly pressing on the Great Peacock, and in his heart, his future path became clearer.

”Eh~” Celene suddenly interrupted softly, breaking the harmonious atmosphere between Hill and Lansendel, ”Is that spider silk?

How can there be such small spiders!

Moreover, why is there no trace of evil aura... If I didn’t misjudge, that is, after the Abyss?

Tch, for Miska to be resurrected, she’s really daring to do anything!

But the silk on her wrist wasn’t from Spider Demon, so how can it be without an aura?

Besides, it’s not that thin!”

Hill silently glanced at Shaer, finding that the Lady of the Night also turned to him... they both guessed who the Chaos Queen’s new supplier was.
