Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill couldn’t help but glance at the scenery on the giant screen.

If AO intends to do something as significant as cleansing the Toril Gods... then he wouldn’t be interested in this world’s dual core sun.

Otherwise, with the chaos in the god system and the continuous day and night or their alternation... it’s basically no different from restarting Toril.

So, Hill looked at Celene, who was watching with great interest the scene on the giant screen of Lansendel’s verbal battle with Amanata... Didn’t she take this matter that seriously?

Although Celene is not as attentive as Tyr or Mystra to the affairs of Toril land, she still cares about this world.

She really likes this bustling world that brings her countless joys.

Thus, Hill always remembers that when Midnight Mistrala’s repetitive deaths unexpectedly lifted Chult’s seal, and Dandell burst out of the world, devouring that sun when no one was prepared, it was Celene who found an Eternal Fire to ignite new stars.

The only regret for her was that although Amanata lost the foundation of his existence, his presence was too strong... a new sun could never give birth to a new Sun God.

The reason Lansendel was successfully tempted was naturally because the sun was no longer Amanata’s... If he were only a bit tempted to become the Sun God before, his shackles were directly unlocked at that moment.

Unfortunately, this matter was Amanata’s conspiracy from the start.

Lansendel forgot that he was Toril’s first light, after his appearance came the blazing sun.

Amanata could indeed be born through his body.

Of course, AO must have had a hand in this, like using the Tablets of Fate to give Amanata a bit of luck.

But during that time, Amanata indeed resurrected splendidly... Upon discovering that the sun had become the weakest link in the Toril Universe, the Toril Gods, who had no intention of helping others guard their homes, naturally weren’t so unwilling to see his resurrection.

Although they still loathed him, everyone is realistic, who would be willing to sacrifice current interests for a bit of past sentiment?

Dandell’s easy success gave them a wake-up call.

So, Amanata easily returned to strong Divine Power.

Although no one wanted to bother with him... but the power is there, what do those things matter?

Hill looked at Amanata on the giant screen who, while fiercely resisting, still showed a hint of internal weakness, once again feeling that his journey through Toril was both thrilling but truly rewarding.

Perhaps for AO, who likes using deities as tools, Amanata is more useful.

And Lansendel, who always skips around causing trouble, has matured and become more stable, accepting reality... that’s even better.

Yet, Hill does not wish to see that kind of result at all.

The appearance of Edna Mistrala, although influenced by him and the Undead Tribe, was mostly AO’s own choice... Only Lansendel was Hill’s true influence on fate.

While this incident caused Hill to be discovered by the Master of Destiny for his ability to influence the Power of Destiny, thus some aspects of his speech abilities were blocked, Hill truly didn’t regret it at all.

The only joy he had was... although Lansendel didn’t pay heed to Amanata’s conspiracy, continuing his youthful dreams kind of destiny’s tributary was rare, it existed.

Hill’s action was just turning this destiny’s tributary into a legitimate mainstream... unless entities like the Master of Destiny could discover the Power of Destiny intertwined on it.

Which means the destiny influenced by Hill’s presence, the related protagonists would absolutely not trace Hill’s marks.

They would simply think it was their own flash of inspiration.

Like AO’s subordinate Edna’s birth.

Old AO might not favor Edna’s lazy and spectator-like joyous personality, but he was satisfied with her work attitude... Edna just wouldn’t work overtime, nor actively take on tasks, but she did complete what she was supposed to do.

Furthermore, she wasn’t greedy, definitely wouldn’t want to achieve some dreams relying on the strength of the Weave... including crazy ideas like world peace.

Probably Midnight left a deep impression on AO, he surely wouldn’t again because some guy is kind-hearted and persistent and feel they are fit for managing neutral institutions.

Black Eye Mystra is a bit greedy and likes playing dirty, but she wouldn’t drag the Weave along a dead-end path!

Hill also later learned from Shaer’s occasional curses... Midnight’s actions almost let her Shadow Demon Network separate entirely from the Weave.

Which means, if Shaer hadn’t helped Eric kill Midnight, Toril’s Weave would have been divided into two... goodness to goodness, evil to evil.

And then neutral would run both sides.

Running both sides means, everyone understands... neither side is touched.

And Toril’s mages are primarily from the Neutral Faction.

If that truly happened, either mages collectively move, or... off-network spell casting would become the basic education for mages once again.

Just like in the days of Naise Mages.

AO spent countless efforts to have this world entirely controlled by the Weave!

So, Midnight’s death was almost inevitable.

And Shaer’s anger lay in the fact that she originally intended to use Midnight’s death to directly dismantle the Shadow Demon Network and take it for her own.

However, she was instead counter-manipulated by her old man.

Although her Shadow Realm thus returned to its complete and dark form, thoroughly back in her grasp, allowing her to maintain her strength without relying on the Shadow Demon Network... Shaer was still displeased by being manipulated.

Hill glanced at the cold-faced and closed-eyed Lady of the Night... So, was this a reminder within her words just now, right?

But she wouldn’t say these words in front of Lansendel.

With Shaer’s tenacious and unwilling-to-be-used disposition, the Midnight incident was something she’d remember for a long time... The two subsequent deaths of Midnight in history were both due to her unwillingness.

At that time, Shaer’s sunk costs were too high... So even knowing that AO was smiling behind the scenes, she would vent her anger first.

And now, although Shaer didn’t contribute much, only offering Cyric a chance, and with the newly reappeared Goddess of Magic being Edna, at least allowing her to save face on these matters and remain somewhat satisfied, she obviously doesn’t want to get involved in AO’s schemes anymore.

Though this somewhat resembles fearing rope after being bitten by a snake once... Hill deep down feels that Shaer doesn’t want these messes to affect her romance!

Otherwise, she’d only choose to see if she could take the opportunity to first clear some creatures from Toril.

Hill pursed his lips in slight displeasure... William is the one truly disrupting fate; why just seal his mouth?

Then his discontent was abruptly interrupted by Amanata’s furious roar: ”Lansendel! You’re actually seeking help!”

What nonsense is this?

Hill sharply lifted his head... And was stunned to discover, beside the Lord of Fire Elements, a massive Water Elemental Creature had somehow appeared.

A... Water Elemental Deity ascending to the Sun?

Hill’s wide eyes stared roundly: ”Who is this?”

”Netherwater Goddess,” Celene whispered softly, ”Though I’ve heard of her existence, she’s always ignored everything and everyone.

Thus, even the least noticeable Deity of Elements is stronger in presence than her.

But, if I remember correctly, she should be the only independently transformed Water Elemental in the first batch of water elements.

Just like some Earth Elements were influenced by the World Tree’s existence... She also was influenced by the existence of the Styx.

Then she’s been residing closest to the Styx in the Water Elemental Plane... Did the Styx invite her to act?

Why does the Styx attach such importance to this world?”

”No wonder, Asmodier sealed this world’s Styx tributary for less than 10,000 years, and the Styx’s will discovered it.” Shaer couldn’t help but open her eyes wide, closely examining this Goddess of the Styx, who stood on the Sun yet suppressed Kashus, ”Though logically speaking, it’s not impossible, such a coincidence is the true essence of fate.

However, the Styx’s reaction was indeed exceptionally fast.”

Hill could understand Shaer’s intriguing judgment... If the Element Lords’ reaction speed is 1, then the Styx’s is essentially 0.00001.

”Perhaps, for the Styx, eternal night and eternal day have some utility?” Contemplating past novels he’d read, he proposed a thought from his heart, ”Moreover, during eternal night, Silvermoon and Dark Moon could serve as light sources.

The Aislin you conjured, perhaps, he also fondly enjoys.”

Celene’s eyes blinked furiously... She and Lansendel toiled for so long, only to benefit the Styx with that old silver coin?

Damn it!

These long-lived old guys, why are they all so sneakily deceitful!

”Anyway, what Lansendel wants is merely a locator within the Styx; I presume the Styx would willingly offer such a benefit.” Hill mused before speaking softly, ”And you, Lady Celene, aren’t you originally in it for some amusement?

After all, the Styx wouldn’t mind if you left a locator as well... It’s not too much of a loss, right?”

Celene silently regarded him: ”What I want is the impossible-to-appear Dark Moon!”

Shaer silently rolled her eyes and coldly chuckled.

Hill pointed at the outside clouds: ”He’s not planning to start now.

After all, ordinary humans still exist in this world.

The Styx has sufficient time to wait for this world to develop to that stage.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have had you and Lansendel completely seal Dark Moon and Dark Sun.”

Lansendel dragged this matter on, allowing Aislin to thoroughly absorb the Power of the Dark Sun.
