Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill thought for a long time but couldn’t understand. Does Asmodeus’s attack on Heavenly Mountain this time really require the Queen of Chaos to take action?

Although she is indeed very strong, able to take on several Dimogogan.

But with so many Demon Lords and Grand Dukes of Devils, it shouldn’t be to the point where they can’t fight without the Queen of Chaos, right?

Not to mention, the Gods of Order are obviously planning to completely cut ties with Asmodeus this time, even at the cost of their own people... But they have always only cared if they themselves aren’t the ones dying.

As for the white-bearded old man who kept rambling, reminding Hill of the past... Hill suspected he was so self-righteous, even thinking he had some connection with Asmodeus, that he was just pushed out by other Gods of Order to take the heat from the Lord of Hell.

That guy’s head must not be very good... Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been the one to fool the native inhabitants of Heavenly Mountain back then.

Don’t the Gods of Order know that doing this would arouse the deep consciousness of Heavenly Mountain’s resentment?

Even if that thing doesn’t have much intelligence, its resentment would cause misfortune for the deities... They still live in it after all.

The smarter ones would act like AO, although hiding behind valiant Battle Angels, at least showing friendliness and respect.

The foolish ones, probably like the white-bearded type, thinking they are exceedingly clever, absolutely able to control these Battle Angels at will.

They even chose sacrificial lambs, claiming these Gods of Order will resist to the death, but not even Aesces would believe that.

So, even if the Queen of Chaos can take on ten enemies at once, what’s the use?

Hill couldn’t understand.

Luckily, Celene also couldn’t understand... Though whether her ’not understanding’ was genuine or feigned madness remains unknown, at least she expressed her doubts to Shaer.

Shaer glanced at her as if sensing something: ”Why are you asking this?”

”At first, I thought my easy access to Heavenly Mountain’s top layer was because of my chaotic-good nature.” Celene answered seriously, ”Some might not understand, but chaos is inherently the biggest enemy of order.

It’s also the easiest to exploit the gaps in order.

So, I didn’t find Asmodeus’s idea of using demons to pave the way strange at all... Darkness might be constrained by light, but chaos is not blocked by order.

On the contrary, order is always something that chaos breaks down.

But they overemphasize the role of the Queen of Chaos’s existence.

It’s as if... only she can break through the blockade of the conference hall.

Moreover, it’s clear that even those Gods of Order are unaware of this.

They are so confident in their methods that they are allowing the Demon Army such leeway.

So... why?

What is so special about the Queen of Chaos?”

”Whether gods or demons, they are both spirit-and-flesh unified beings.” Shaer fixed her gaze on Celene, ”Most Abyssal Lords are created, not naturally formed.”

Her statement was ambiguous, but everyone understood it.

In essence, it’s still the so-called Primordial Power.

The Queen of Chaos is a being born from the early Chaos Sea... Although she is an evil demon, in a certain sense, she can be called a Natural God of the Chaos Sea.

It’s just that different planes display their laws with varying tendencies.

And the Chaos Sea, like Heavenly Mountain, is a special plane created in the universe. However, possibly due to its later formation, it is less mature than the Abyss and Hell.

It undoubtedly has some flaws.

In a certain way, Heavenly Mountain and the Chaos Sea are naturally opposing forces.

That is to say, the attacks by the Queen of Chaos are critical hits to the weaknesses of Heavenly Mountain.

Asmodeus’s target is the Pool of Life, and the Abyssal Will likely holds something else he desires.

As for the other Abyssal Lords~

Think about it, gems connected to Miska can be safely stored in that conference hall... How many treasures must be inside!

Ordinary gold and silver jewelry hold no value for these Abyssal Lords, but... those divine artifacts infused with the power of laws from various worlds are valuable to everyone.

The Dukes of Demons probably share this interest as well.

It’s just that they don’t trust their master as much as the Demon Lords do, so they plan to follow behind and wait for the right moment... When it’s time to divide the spoils, is there really any demon whose eye can’t exceed that of a demon?

That group, only obsessed with gaudy treasures, have no ability to discern the truly valuable things in such a short time.

So, this is a highly coordinated robbery... Of course, what the Bottomless Abyss and the nine layers of hell seek is something else: respect and submission.

The more mortals fear them, the stronger their presence becomes.

Although the reputations of Hell and Abyss have indeed been terrifying over the years, they fall short of their past glory.

In places like Toril, strong individuals have even begun capturing Demon Lords for breeding.

Not to mention, some even dare to capture Six Fingers... Even if that person is a powerhouse standing shoulder to shoulder with deities, it still proves that, in the minds of these people, the threat of the Bottomless Abyss is far less than before the Blood War.

Although the Blood War is a good thing for Hell and the Abyss, in a certain sense, it actually reduced their threat to the mortal world.

This also allowed many forces to rise to power over them boldly.

Heavenly Mountain is, of course, the most flamboyant among them.

Looking at how Heavenly Mountain has inflated to this extent because of Asmodeus’s illustrious war achievements... the Abyssal Will and the nine layers of hell must have long been displeased.

After all, the combat power no longer belongs to Heavenly Mountain, does it?

Plus, with AO stirring things up in the middle, the God of Order is bound to suffer a huge loss this time.

”I don’t understand... If even you know about this, why don’t those old geezers know?” Celene pondered for a long time before squeezing out a sentence, ”Is the Chaos Sea such a peculiar and bizarre place?”

”Guess, who exposed this weakness?” Shaer said with a smile.

Without thinking, Celene pointed at the Pool of Life collaborating desperately with Asmodeus and said, ”Isn’t it him!

Besides him, who else could know about this flaw in Heavenly Mountain?”

”So, how could those old geezers know?” Shaer pulled at the corners of her mouth, ”I suppose only three...”

She swallowed the rest of her words, but that Sanhill still heard.

Naturally, Celene did too.

She didn’t care about what Shaer intended to retract; she just seriously counted, ”The old man, Asmodeus, plus you who used some method to eavesdrop on the old man.

How did you do it?

Teach me~”

”Get lost.” Shaer used the simplest word to express the infinite emotions in her heart.

”Wow~” Celene, entirely unfazed, exclaimed at the huge screen, ”The tentacles of the Queen of Chaos are really powerful!

They are much stronger than your Shadow Touch, Shaer.”

”Do you want to try?” Shaer whispered softly, ”Rest assured, no matter how you babble and intermix things, I won’t tell you how I did it.”

”Tch~” Celene tossed her head with dissatisfaction, ”Just wait, I’ll find it out sooner or later!”

”Suit yourself.” Shaer’s smile was filled with scorn.

-----------------

After understanding the necessity behind the Queen of Chaos, Hill stopped listening to the chitchat between the sisters... Their conversation sometimes was really not for outsiders to hear.

Just as well, the giant screens on both sides had reached their climax.

Although the large-scale military battle on the right was very spectacular.

Even holding back a bit, the God of Order is, after all, supremely powerful... Each one could hold off thousands of armies.

If it weren’t for the Demon Lords and Monarchs of Hell still working hard, those encirclements would have been broken long ago.

After all, no matter how indifferent, once discovering that the attacks of the Queen of Chaos truly affected their conference hall hiding countless treasures, those Gods of Order panicked a bit.

They only imagined too beautifully, not really wanting to make generous gifts to hell and the abyss.

But perhaps they were too lax in the early stages, so even after starting to counterattack, the God of Order’s combat strength was still a bit sluggish.

For a while, they couldn’t break free from the combined siege of demons and devils.

The mana light shining across the sky, the overwhelming battle aftermath, was truly brilliant... Especially against the nearly eternal pure white scenery of Heavenly Mountain.

There is a kind of bizarre, cruel beauty.

But Hill focused all his attention on the giant tranquil screen to the left.

Asmodeus seemed to have reached a crucial moment... The various runes of light bursting from above the pool captivated Hill’s gaze.

He’d already seen several runes he had never encountered before!

Hill initially took out his magic notebook to record these runes... but found he couldn’t put them to pen.

This, it should be that so-called natural divine pattern.

He could engrave them in his own mental sea, but couldn’t write them down for others to see.

Since that’s the case, he could only work hard by himself.

No matter how little he remembered, even if it was only one, it would be his victory!

These are light runes!

Don’t look at how many healing divine arts the gods grant to priests, even they may not have more light runes than Hill.

Many so-called healing spells rely on divine power to draw out the future potential of the injured to use now... In other words, the energy for wound recovery actually uses this person’s future physical strength.

Of course, if there are sufficient substitutes, it can work too.

Such as various gemstones rich in life energy.

Hill’s Natural Healing Spell is actually also utilizing the life energy provided by nature.

Therefore, the temple surely charges for saving people, and priests and priests certainly won’t work at a loss.

But true light runes are hard to convey with divine arts... Either someone has a light physique, or someone has enough intelligence and spirit to inscribe these runes into their mental sea.

How could someone with such ability become a priest?

No matter how devout, they would choose to become a mage with faith.
