Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill sometimes felt indecisive.

Clearly knowing that Aislin was bound to end up like this... In essence, if Aislin had done something while Glaysia and that Goddess of the Silvermoon were fighting, this wouldn’t have been her outcome.

But Hill could also understand the imbalance between her inherently weak soul power and the powerful mana that was instilled in her... She simply couldn’t have strong willpower.

Indeed, some people can achieve it, but Hill wouldn’t look down on Aislin for not being able to.

All we can say is that she became naturally despondent when the time came, and from start to finish, she never struggled.

Moreover, people have to pay for everything they’ve done in the past.

After all, even deities cannot escape the so-called cause and effect.

Hill suddenly shook his head and couldn’t help but laugh... The one who saved Aislin was her admiration for Ruth.

If she had acted according to her original character, she would definitely have given Gilbert a lot of trouble.

But, Ruth didn’t allow her to do such things, so she wouldn’t do it openly.

When causing trouble secretly, she didn’t target Gilbert himself... Looking down on the Hainarson Clan is not really overstepping.

Moreover, even if Gilbert considers Ruth’s affection, and the fact that the Hainarson Clan still remains in the Tower of Dark Enigma, he will protect this Eldest Martial Sister somewhat.

Aislin didn’t do many good things in her lifetime, yet received her one bit of goodwill in the end.

Hill shook his head, trying hard to pull his thoughts away from the cycle of karma, but the shock was simply too overwhelming this time.

After all, it was the Circle of Destiny, one that began tens of thousands, no, hundreds of thousands of years ago, affecting even his birth... Just thinking about it is terrifying.

”Speaking of which, I still need to open a door for the Undead Tribe,” Lansendel suddenly said thoughtfully.

”Why?” Hill’s eyes widened... He thought all his preparations would go to waste!

”Ah... Some time ago, I was deceived by Asmodeus!” Lansendel smiled warmly, ”So, the few worlds he used to blind my vision, I accidentally blew them up.

They’ve been completely permeated by the hellish atmosphere anyway, so foul-smelling that I’m eager for them to disappear quickly.

Moreover, Celene was quite involved.”

Celene turned her head and said seriously, ”I don’t know who’s responsible for those hellish worlds, but anyway, they reeked of deception and betrayal.

Not even a neutral world... The most terrifying thing is a world with few women and few newborns, just thinking about it tells you how they reproduce!

How could I possibly just watch as such a filthy world continues to exist?”

Hill pressed his forehead... The few worlds near Teraxil are utterly doomed this time!

Though he didn’t quite agree with Celene’s reasons, after all, the reproduction of devils is something else entirely... The absence of women in devil-controlled worlds is too normal.

Yet he doesn’t need to sympathize with the enemy’s plight either.

Anyway, Lansendel’s reasons he acknowledged.

This time, the Stellar Realm gate resembling a Spiral Constellation from Teraxil finally served as a true exit.

Shaer obviously understood how absurd Celene’s reasons were, and she glanced at her sister like she was a monster, but she wouldn’t explain this for the nine layers of hell.

So, she likewise chose... to change the subject.

”Do you think, once Asmodeus returns from the Heavenly Mountain, he will make another move in this world?” Shaer looked at Lansendel.

”He and the Bottomless Abyss will inevitably turn against each other, but it will take a decade or two.” Lansendel answered casually, ”Once he goes back to settle accounts, those Great Devils kicked out of the power circle will need a place to go.

Aside from Toril, isn’t this world the most suitable?

After all, the Styx’s atmosphere is more suitable for these devils.

In this world, the foundation of the devils is strong enough, even if they drift away from the Devil Tower, the Mage Tower certainly contains some of these devils’ tricks.

Devils actually love worlds where they can fight both openly and secretly.

Even if they’re doomed to fail, the desires they gain are enough to break even.”

”What’s it got to do with you?” Celene asked, puzzled.

Lansendel looked at her helplessly, ”Aislin’s presence was acknowledged by the Styx.

Do you think it’s that easy?

Moreover, at the time, the Styx could have directly thrown that dual Sun core to Amanata... Do you think the Styx would be afraid of Toril losing too many people?

Of course, it was because I reached an agreement with him that we ended up with this perfect result!”

Lansendel couldn’t help but mutter, ”Besides, it’s obvious there are quite a few hidden hands in this world.”

”What do you mean?” Celene suddenly became curious, ”Have you discovered someone’s hidden hands?”

”The Rut in Aislin’s memory seems a bit off,” Lansendel said thoughtfully, ”I always feel I’ve seen Soul Power like his somewhere before.

I’ve never been to this world before. If there’s a familiar feeling, there must be...some outsider.”

”Asmodeus, what nest have you stirred up?” Celene asked confusedly, ”If we go by what Hill said, his planning is truly quite comprehensive.

I thought having your Chosen fall into this world because of an accidentally exploding half-plane was already a rare thing!

As for Hill... Hill’s entry can be understood. Given his luck, matters related to Teraxil naturally draw him in.

That... old mage of Teraxil should be for similar reasons.

Originally nearby, then this world has ties with them...

So, I really think only your Chosen is the unexpected one.

What?

There are actually others?”

Hill glanced at Lansendel... he actually had this feeling when he left the Tower of Dark Enigma.

The connection between Rut and the Tower of Dark Enigma is a bit... too close.

When he suddenly learned that this world easily births a dual soul as one, Hill somewhat guessed a little something... clearly, he always felt Rut didn’t seem like someone without Soul Mage talents.

But he indeed wasn’t a Soul Mage.

However, if his other half of his soul is, then?

Moreover, the Tower of Dark Enigma, as the mage faction that understands souls the most, finding a way to migrate Rut’s other half soul into the Soul Tower shouldn’t be too difficult.

If that’s the case, Hill can understand why no matter how far or long Rut leaves, the Tower of Dark Enigma continues to act on his will... even if he chooses to become the subsidiary tower master of another Magic Tower, he hasn’t been abandoned by the Tower of Dark Enigma.

As for why, theoretically, the half-soul that’s most cold and ruthless without emotion cooperates so well with Rut... just like Delphus, that part of his soul is missing virtue but still has things it doesn’t want to lose.

The approach the Tower of Dark Enigma took to separate the two was clearly filled with goodwill for any Rut... it’s directly becoming an immortal Magic Tower!

Hill, having controlled so many Tower Spirits, knows how unbelievable actions such a Magic Tower can achieve.

Whether it’s exploitation or for their own good, Rut knows best in his heart... no matter which one.

And such a mentor, at that moment, vanished completely.

Even if there are grievances or desires, in the face of such a tragic outcome, both Ruts probably want only revenge.

A bit sinister, but understandable.

So, Hill simply didn’t bring it up.

However, Lansendel’s words made him react to another matter: the dual soul as one in this world, although it can be artificially created with some unconventional means, naturally, it just exists.

So, if the mages of this world could achieve this, they would have done so long ago... one becomes a mage, the other, immortal, who truly fares better; until the end, nobody knows.

With humanity’s usual style in this world, perhaps more actually wish to become a Magic Tower!

The legacy of the Tower of Dark Enigma certainly doesn’t contain related knowledge... so, there must be an outsider who taught them.

This, presumably, is the familiar force Lansendel mentioned?

But, that Soul Power seen by the Lord of Dawn, who could that be?

Lansendel hesitated for a long time, unable to define it, indicating it’s likely an old entity from ages past.

To slip under Asmodeus’s nose undetected, their capability must be at least comparable to that of Grand Duke of Hell Mephistopheles.

Though this figure has failed multiple times on Hill’s side, he’s someone whom Asmodeus finds vexatious to the point of granting him due power and status, as the lord of the eighth layer of Hell.

Hill shook his head, abandoning further speculation... he is, after all, young and lacks experience; even with inherited memories, matching individuals with identities isn’t straightforward.

He can only wait for Lansendel to figure it out himself, or until that patient entity who hasn’t revealed themselves decides to show up.

”But, Hill...” Shaer suddenly stared at Hill for a moment, ”Have you increased your magician rank?

This world is having a great impact on you!

I think since your arrival, your rank has increased by at least two levels!”

Shaer was still conservative; just that instant epiphany elevated Hill’s magician rank by three levels.

For such an existence as the magician, whether they continue to grow stronger depends solely on how much energy they can extract from their own bloodlines and souls inherited from ancestors.

The higher one’s potential cap, the easier the growth.

”Weren’t you aiming for the mage’s path?” Lansendel glanced at him with some sympathy, ”Can it work?”
