Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill, not quite capable.

Recently promoted to a level 1 magician, he’s used almost all his strength, yet still hasn’t caught up... The concept of being a mage truly requires inspiration, but it indeed requires sweat as well.

The so-called one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration actually means you only hope for that one percent inspiration after sweating through ninety-nine percent of the effort.

This is because he truly has decent talents... For mages with lesser talents, this ratio might need to be calculated in batches of ten thousand.

With Hill’s luck, he also has to spend a large amount of time and energy to complete that ninety-nine percent of effort.

Even just to achieve a level 1 magician, he’d need several years, or even more than a decade of effort to match his mage level.

This is four levels!

Hill was on the brink of bursting apart upon realizing what was happening.

The key is, can he be sure that during such a long period, his magician level can stay there waiting for his mage level to slowly catch up?

Hill himself wasn’t confident.

But even if he’s not quite capable, hearing Lansendel’s dogsh*t-like inquiry, he could only smile lightly and breezily: ”I’m still young, I can slowly make up for it, don’t worry about these little things.”

”Indeed.” Lansendel nodded, ”Take more walks and see more, the Stellar Realm is quite valuable for mages.”

Although Lansendel was deceived by his calm façade, Shaer clearly was not.

However, the Lady of the Night still gave him a bit of face, though her gaze sliced through like a knife, at least her mouth didn’t expose him.

On the other hand, Celene, who didn’t feel particularly about Hill’s strength and future, was now considering another issue.

”Asmodeus hasn’t reached the top layer of the Heavenly Mountain!” She glanced gently at the dazzling giant screen... It’s quite clear that Shaer on the other side was continually shadow jumping.

This means that although the Heavenly Mountain has risen in war flames everywhere, there’s no scene worth stopping for Shaer to watch once more.

We can only wait for the united army of the Hell and Abyss to fight all the way to the peak of the Heavenly Mountain.

Her tone was calm with a hint of curiosity: ”But, when Styx opened the gate of the Heavenly Mountain, he went to discuss future cooperation with you, right?

AO did too.

With his usual character, he wouldn’t do anything too offensive to the mighty ones... After all, on our Toril, it’s quite easy to come in and cause trouble.

Even though he can handle it, he doesn’t want to bear too much pressure.

So, upon discovering he dared to directly undermine the Heavenly Mountain, I could determine that he also believed that the Heavenly Mountain would undoubtedly lose.

Thus, the victory of Asmodeus was a known certainty to those old folks.

Why?

If Asmodeus were indeed so powerful, merely needing to bring along these hitmen from the Abyss and Hell... wasn’t the angel legion of yesteryear also able to lead the way, right?”

Lansendel looked indifferently: ”Doesn’t matter much, as long as we know who will lose, that’s sufficient.

When do you ever consider so much?”

Celene glanced at him in surprise: ”I always consider a lot, alright?”

Even Hill, who had issues on his mind, couldn’t help but widen his eyes and look at her... Hill felt this statement was even more shameless than Celene daily shouting about her once loving her sister, Shaer, most.

”What do you want to do?” Shaer couldn’t help asking.

”I don’t want to do anything~ I just don’t understand what made that sneaky old man from our place, who usually only takes advantage from the back, suddenly so bold!” Celene looked curious.

Lansendel quickly retreated, sat back on his couch, and silently withdrew from the main battlefield... At times like this, only Shaer could step up.

He was not afraid of AO, but it was unnecessary to offend someone in a place like this.

And Lansendel knew very well that his mouth would spell trouble as soon as it opened.

Shaer glanced at Celene, frowned slightly, then thought of something, or perhaps someone told her something, and she straightforwardly smirked coldly: ”Although the battle angel legion moved into Hell back then, they did not completely sever themselves from the Heavenly Mountain.

They, only pledged to block the invasion of the Bottomless Abyss for the Heavenly Mountain.”

Celene listened in utter confusion, pointing at the giant screen with a puzzled face: ”This way, block?”

”So, after this time, Asmodeus and his angel legion will completely sever ties with Heaven.” Shaer smiled calmly, ”Guess why the God of Order back then exiled Asmodeus and his group to Hell, yet didn’t take away the key that opens the Heavenly Mountain’s gate from the battle angels?”

”They, can’t do it, right?” Apparently, Celene wasn’t entirely clueless, ”Asmodeus and the battle angels are native species of the Heavenly Mountain, aren’t they!”

”Yes.” Shaer cast a sidelong glance at Celene, ”As long as the battle angels themselves don’t wish it, the Gods of Order cannot sever their connection to the Heavenly Mountain.

Even if they’ve fallen into evil, they are still children of the Heavenly Mountain.

But actually, Asmodeus and his group weren’t so clear about all this.

Until Zeus brought the Greek Gods, with thunder above their heads and sin upon their bodies, to live in the Heavenly Mountain.

Asmodier finally realized, Heavenly Mountain does not entirely forbid evil from entering.”

Hill blinked... So, when the Gods of Order accepted Zeus for Mount Olympia, were they doomed to get beaten up today?

”Many things, without becoming deities, Asmodier just won’t understand.” Shaer suddenly chuckled coldly, ”So I don’t even know now if it’s an accident that the God of Destiny fell right into his mouth.”

”Hmm? Oh~” Celene answered crisply, ”Nothing around Old Man can truly be an accident.

Otherwise, he’d have long been finished off by someone.

Such a wicked, utterly wicked being, wouldn’t dare to breathe unless everything around him was tightly secured!”

”What madness are you on about today?” Even Shaer was a bit confused.

”Heavenly Mountain has this outcome today, Old Man has done quite a lot in it!” Celene suddenly sighed.

”Don’t tell me you have friends on Heavenly Mountain.” Shaer was incredulous, ”Those beings there would rather deal with Cyric than play with you, right?”

Celene puffed her cheeks, looking defiant, ”What are you saying? Is it necessary to insult me this way?

I look much better than Cyric!”

Celene’s focus is always beyond comprehension.

The critical thing is, this focus can switch at any moment.

”So, what madness are you on about?” Shaer, being used to her manner of speaking, simply ignored her nonsensical words.

”Corpses are strewn all over Heavenly Mountain.” Celene suddenly showed a look of sorrow, ”Shaer, they are all beautiful girls.

I hardly feel anything when those angels blow up... They were made just to be tools.

But those, who completely don’t know what’s happening, and have no protection... They are really tragic.”

”You should know the reason they were all massacred is because they were originally maids serving the Gods of Order, right?” Shaer looked at Celene puzzled, ”Otherwise, with their little skills, how would they qualify to live near the Dimensional Gate?

They were eyeliners placed by the Gods of Order on the lower levels of Heavenly Mountain, monitoring other deities, collecting tributes from other deities... So when misfortune befell them on Heavenly Mountain, them being the first to fall was always destined.

So, don’t tell me you feel any sorrow over the death of these pretty girls.

Celene, what madness are you on about?”

Celene pressed her lips... She knew, even if she took the appearance of Luna in front of Shaer, there’s no way to hide her true feelings.

Yet, there are some things she indeed doesn’t want to reveal now.

”Are you up to something with AO, right?”

Unfortunately, Shaer grasped the main point without needing her to speak, ”And you suddenly realized that the death of these goddesses is inseparable from what you’ve been doing.

That’s why you suddenly flew into a rage.

For someone like you who always poses as the kind Moonlight, having deities of the Kind Alignment lose their lives because of your actions is indeed... quite disturbing.

But I don’t believe AO would do anything to affect your faction.

It’s just you realizing this point yourself... No wonder you were talking about that Dark Moon thing earlier.

What? Did you send a message to the Chaos Sea or did something for the Bottomless Abyss?

No... You wouldn’t make such a direct mistake.

Hmm... did you get involved with those kind Zholar who worship Elisui and then got deceived?”

Celene looked at her sister with sheer panic.

”Heh~ Elisui herself doesn’t know how many spies from Rose are within her followers...” Shaer jeered, ”Yet you dare to reach in so casually.

What, thinking those Zholar dancing ritual dances in moonlight truly worship the moon and would never betray, right?

Pretending to understand without actually understanding... is your greatest folly!”

As Shaer spoke, she became more and more agitated... Apparently recalling the past once again.

Yet Lansendel couldn’t help but interject: ”I say, Shaer, what exactly happened, could you enlighten us listeners?”

”Has nothing to do with you.” Shaer said unflinchingly, ”It’s just Celene being manipulated once again.

Some information was likely transmitted through her moonlight.

Just like when you sought out the World Tree, relying on your radiance directly illuminating to the center of the universe.

Celene’s moonlight, of course, can also shine into the Abyss, and into the Chaos Sea.”
